After Party - 27

A/N: I'm not loving this chapter. The dialogue just did not flow right for me... I may edit later. Tell me what you think. Is it too boring? I've been reading some bad stories and I think it's taking a toll on my writing ability right now...

Oh also, my chapters are cut up into shorter pieces and usually flows right from the chapter before so it can be confusing if you don't remember where everybody is. Usually, I try to make each chapter it's own thing, but with this story I'm trying something different.

"You look... perfect." His black velvet voice was lowered and his cologne unfailingly filled my senses. He stood close by me while I perused the snack table. I didn't answer him, I guessed my voice would turn to a moan if I did. Instead, I looked up to meet his burning grey eyes and smiled wistfully. I wished I could pull him into a kiss before taking him to the dance floor. He stood with his hands in his pockets and desire in his eyes even though his face was an emotionless mask.

I caught sight of Victoria leaving the dancefloor with a drink in her hand. It wasn't her usual strut, it was more determined and vindictive. I followed her trajectory to find Izzy standing near a table talking to Shane and Paulie who were sitting back in their chairs. I abandoned my search for food and went straight to Victoria at almost a trot.

"You're the skankiest little bitch." Victoria was saying as she started to pull her drink back to pour it on Izzy who had spun in anger. I caught Victoria's hand that held the glass just in time and nudged her away from the table.

"It's not like she looks half as good as you." I whispered in Victoria's ear so the others couldn't hear. Victoria let out a deranged laugh and though my statement had good intentions, unfortunately I was being completely sincere. "Montgomery is watching." I whispered to her. She didn't let her eyes give away that I was trying to protect her from getting thrown out, but I felt guilty about not really doing it for Izzy anyway. I didn't think she needed a drink poured on her, but I was still pretty sour with her since she'd still been treating Jenna like crap and glaring at me every chance she got. I led Victoria away. "The girl is just jealous of you." I told her with the voice of a snake, when we were far enough away from the to not hear us.

"Everyone knows only I wear red to the Winter Formal. It's my color." She growled.

"I doubt her dress cost more than $40." I mocked, almost hating myself for being nasty, though it seemed to make Victoria abandon her mission to bully Izzy for simply wearing a red dress. "Besides, it kind of clashes with her hair." I muttered through my teeth, making Victoria let out a cackle. Tia and the others found us, all having ditched their guys on the dance floor.

"That is so true, Kate." Victoria agreed.

"Your date's looking for you, Chernoff." Tia said in her nasally voice with a glance out to the dance floor.

"I'll go dance with him." I stated simply.

"No. Make him come to you." Victoria insisted, making me raise an eyebrow.

"We're not dating, Victoria. I have a boyfriend." I stated sounding exasperated.

"Have you slept with him yet?" Tia asked.

"Dwayne? No. You mean my boyfriend?" I asked in confusion. She just nodded as they all seemed to lean in. "Ye-ah." I breathed with a smile, before I left them all to go join Dwayne when the song switched to a slow one and the dateless people were leaving the dancefloor in a herd. "Dwayne." I called as he left with Victoria's group's guys.

"Hey, where'd you get off to?" he asked rhetorically. "Do you wanna dance?" he asked.

"Sure. I actually suck at dancing to slow songs." I admitted as I led him back on the dance floor.

"Same. What do we do? Just sway?" he said in exasperation, making me throw my head back and laugh.

"Sure, I guess that's what everybody else is doing." I said after looking around at all the awkward couples and putting my arms around his neck as he took my waist. "Slow songs are boring." I told him, making him laugh.

"We'll have to jazz it up a little." He joked, taking my hand to spin me before we resumed a waltzing pose with my hand in his and my other on his shoulder.

"I do know a few moves." I said dipping our hands with a funny bit of foot work. We laughed as he bent me back and I came back up shaking my head. "Terrible. If we're not careful they'll get a video of us for blackmail."

"My reputation as a good dancer will be ruined." He said sarcastically.

"Hey!" I chirped as I remembered he was from Brooklyn. "I'm spending the holidays in NYC! We should hang out. You can meet my cousin." I insisted brightly as I forgot about our swaying dance and my hands went back to their place around his neck. There was some space between us and he looked down at me in surprise.

"That sounds awesome. I could take you to a few of my favorite places." He insisted, sounding excited. "I thought you were from Miami."

"I am but I have family in New York and I don't feel like flying." I lied.

"Well, I'm not complaining. I'd love to hang out with you. My friends would be jealous of boarding school if they knew girls like you went here." He laughed. I just smiled and tried to ignore the worry that he would think we were dating if I went to too many places with him alone. I figured bringing Lena would make it less likely and she wouldn't mind hanging out with him and his friends.

Victoria commandeered me before the dance slowed down and Dwayne and I went with their group back to Hothmore hall. I was sad I didn't get a chance to see Margaret and meet her date. Victoria and her friends had surrounded me on the dance floor as I busted out some of my club moves and tried to pretend I wasn't surrounded by high school students and even worse... teachers. I had briefly seen Shane and Delila dance together and Gina was having a great time just talking to her date most of the night at one of the tables.

"Sooo, newbie, this is when the actual party begins." Victoria hissed to me, throwing her arm over my shoulders as we made our way out of the dance.

"If there's alcohol, I'm in." I joked, getting a hoard of cheers.

"Really? Spin the bottle?" I cringed as I uncapped a Smirnoff and then took a heinous burning gulp.

"Yeah, sit. We also should play truth or dare." Michelle clapped.

"Aren't you guys a little homophobic for this game?" I asked, sitting down next to Dwayne and looking around the circle at all the girls interspersed between a few grinning guys.

"We can pick truth if we don't want to make out with a girl." Victoria laughed.

"Oh, okay, apparently I don't know how to play." I laughed as Tia placed the empty diet coke bottle in the center of us on the floor of Michelle's dorm room.

"So, you can choose 'kiss' or 'tell'. Everyone who's not the spinner or the one it lands on has to drink." Victoria giggled, pulling a reluctant Paul down next to her.

"Okay." I shrugged as Tia grinned and spun the bottle. It was empty and spun too quick before catching on Dwayne's shoe. He frowned.

"Uhhh, truth?" he asked we all took a gulp of our various drinks.

"Are you a virgin, Dwayne?" Tia sneered.

"No..." He answered simply, taking the wind out of Tia's sails. He spun slower and it landed on Victoria. She smiled with an evil glint in her eye and Paul looked offended like he expected her answer.

"Kiss." She said victoriously, before leaning over the bottle with her eyes on me for a moment. Dwayne practically cringed before pressing his lips to hers and I saw her slip her tongue in his mouth before he pulled away and Paul grabbed her hips and pulled her back down. She spun the bottle with a smile and it landed on Melissa.

"Truth." Melissa stated sounding unconcerned, even in the face of Victoria's devilish smile.

"Do you like Dwayne?" Victoria asked with a suggestive tone. Melissa had a mask of emotionlessness when she replied.

"Yeah, I like Dwayne." She said, removing any suggestive tones from her calm voice.

"No, wait!" Victoria crowed. "Do you have feelings toward Dwayne?" she corrected.

"Too late, Victoria. She already answered." Michelle said it like it was too bad. I gulped more vodka as Melissa spun the bottle. This time it landed on me and Ryan and Tommy howled.

"I know you're homophobic, but I'm not much of a truth person." I said with a tilt to my head. "It's up to you if you wanna kiss your roommate."

"Ugh, I can't think of truth anyway." Melissa huffed. "Let's just get it over with." She groaned, making me laugh. I leaned over the circle and moved my face close to her slowly. She met my lips hesitantly and I increased the pressure of the kiss as I moved my lips against hers. Hers answered mine, but I was good and didn't stick my tongue in her mouth and instead pulled away after a good 7 seconds.

"Ohhh! Did you just kiss Melissa?!" Two girls out in the hallway asked in shock. I just smiled.

"Come join us!" I called to them, with a friendly wave. "I'm done with this game, it's totally boring." I laughed, getting up to get to my phone that I left on the desk.

"Awww, we just started!" Victoria cried as Paul and Dwayne both got up to leave the circle.

"Can we actually join? Are you guys drinking?" one of the girls asked as they stood in the doorway in their skimpy dresses and three-inch heels.

"Fuck yeah. We need to put some music on." I answered, as I texted my friends in a group text to join us in Hothmore at Michelle's room and bring their dates. The only ones I didn't text were Cho, Jiji, and Paulie, but I just didn't have their numbers. I almost regretted texting Izzy, but excluding her would probably just make her hate me more.

Shane and Margaret showed up each with their dates and told me the others were still at the dance. By then, Victoria's group had been swallowed up by tons of other girls and Dwayne was hanging out on the side with me as we talked to Paul, Melissa, and Tommy. Victoria had gotten another group to play spin the bottle and Paul kept glancing over like he was making sure she wasn't kissing anybody else.

"Hey, let's play never have I ever!" one of the girls called after they had gotten tired of all the girls choosing truth and Victoria picking on their insecurities as if she was feeding on their embarrassment.

"Sure, I guess." I shrugged, pulling Margaret and Shane in. Their dates greeted Dwayne and Paul and Michelle finally put on some music. It wasn't what I would've chosen, but it was better than nothing. It was just a list of pop songs, but it was good background music.

"Kate, come play." Victoria insisted, pulling me down next to her on the trunk at the end of someone's bed.

"Sure, yeah, I'll play." I shrugged.

"I'll start. Never have I ever been to Paris." She said, with an arrogant look on her face. I just sat there while a few people took hesitant sips. Michelle had a huge bottle of Peach Schnapps that they had all mixed with soda and I could see some of them swaying as if they were already drunk. I was definitely already drunk or else I would've never played never have I ever because I was bound to get asked questions.

"Kate's next." Victoria said turning to me.

"So, wait, we say something we've done or haven't done?" I asked in confusion.

"You say something you've done that you think nobody else has done." Victoria insisted.

"I think you're supposed to say something you have never done that everyone else has done. That way everyone gets drunk if they've done it." Melissa corrected.

"Oh, yeah. I guess I got it backwards." Victoria laughed. I smirked.

"So, did I. I was supposed to drink since I've been to Paris." I laughed, taking a drink. "Oh, this one is so sad, but I know I'll get at least half of you. Never have I ever gotten straight A's for a year of school."

"That is sad." Melissa mumbled taking a drink. Victoria drank too and only Dwayne and Shane didn't drink.

"Uh, never have I ever... oh, had sex with a guy!" Shane laughed, making me laugh and take a drink. Tia and Victoria took a drink, but I was surprised most of the others didn't.

"Michelle, you're a virgin?!" Victoria picked up on it right away.

"Yeah, well, wait does oral count?" she asked, making the circle laugh.

"Yeah, sure that counts." Shane shrugged. Everyone turned to Delila and she looked nervous and innocent.

"Never have I ever drank alcohol before tonight." She said in a meek voice. We all laughed and took a gulp.

"Now you're one of us." Shane laughed, making her blush and smile.

"Oh, it's me." Margaret realized, sitting up straight. "Never have I ever... oh been able to that thing where you roll your r's. Like Spanish." She chuckled. I made rolling 'R' sound like a purr before taking a drink.

"That's so fuckin' sexy." Tommy accused me with chuckle.

"Yeah, I actually don't think I can make that sound." Victoria said in surprise before trying and sounding like her tongue was caught in a trap. They burst out laughing as a few of them tried. Dwayne was successful and I gave him a high five as he took a drink.

"Sean, you're next." Margaret said softly to her quiet date. He pushed up his glasses as he thought.

"Uh, never have I ever gone to public school?" he shrugged. I took a drink in time with Dwayne and we high fived as we chuckled into our drinks. Shane took a sip and everyone else was waiting for Paul.

"Never have I ever gotten in trouble at school." Paul said.

"Oh god, I'm so drunk!" I laughed. "I don't have to take drink for all the times I've gotten trouble, right?" The laughed and Victoria asked me about the worst time. "Well, I've been to school wasted a couple times and this one time I beat the shit out of a guy who thought he could take advantage of me. What an idiot. He ended up getting suspended and my dad was pissed." I shrugged.

"Were you kicked out?" Delila asked, clearly not seeing the humor in my story.

"No, I just had to do community service." I answered nonchalantly.

We played for a little longer before Shane and Margaret's date decided to leave and when Paul decided to leave, Victoria left with him. I had pretty much done all the things none of the little catholic school girls ever did, so I was definitely getting myself friggin' wasted. Shane decided to walk Delila back to her dorm and to my relief Gina joined us and told us about Michael, her date who had kissed her when he dropped her off at the dorm. Jenna and Cho and Jiji joined shortly after and the party was buzzing along when Izzy came in too. She refused to drink with the rest of us and only spent a few minutes before going back to her room.
