Chapter 60 - The End Of Another Journey
"Absol, hyper bea-"
"Pikachu, quick attack!" Ash shouted, to completely drown out The Boss's voice, a cheap tactic that worked nevertheless.
"Umbreon, agility" Parker looked at Ash, the words reminding him of the time only a day ago, when Umbreons speed dominated Pikachu. "Now, quick attack"
Umbreon disappeared, the pink aura leaving a small trail as Umbreon and Pikachu simultaneously smashed into the Absol on the left.
"Pikachu, iron tail!" Ash didn't want to let one of the Absol's attack. Pikachu flicked his tail and slammed the iron down onto Absol, causing it to fall into the ground.
"Umbreon, hypnosis" Parker caught everyone off guard and he grinned as the right Absol fell asleep.
The mega Absol on the left had already taken adequate damage.
"Ash, now!" Parker signalled to Ash, who was waiting for this moment.
"Charizard, I choose you!" Ash threw his pokeball out and Charizard appeared.
"Umbreon, shadow ball" Parker pointed up and then turned to Ash. "Get on Charizard.
Pikachu hopped onto Ash's shoulder as he jumped onto Charizard, Parker following closely.
The rest of Team Shadow tried to advance, but Ash wasn't going to make it easy for them.
"Charizard, flamethrower" Ash didn't signify a target, so Charizard aimlessly spread his flamethrower around the room, blocking anyone from getting to them.
Meanwhile, Umbreon had opened up a large hole in the roof, hopping onto Charizard with Parker.
"Head to Professor Oak's lab!" Ash patted Charizard, who flew off through the crack in the roof, keeping himself at an angle where everyone could easily stay on.
"Did I surprise you?" Parker asked Ash as they soared through the sky.
"Not at all. You have used hypnosis way too many times now to shock anyone" Ash replied, sharing a laugh with Parker.
"That's true. But, this won't be over yet" Parker said.
"What do you mean?" Ash turned to Parker, who was furiously writing on paper.
"Take these instructions, the code and remember the plan" Parker handed everything to a confused Ash. "Tell Charizard to land"
Ash did as he said, but continued to look confused. "What are you doing?"
Parker turned to face the direction they just came from.
"The others will be heading this way to intercept us. I will make sure they don't make it to the lab, just go" Parker looked at Ash with serious eyes. "Don't try and argue with me, just go"
Ash didn't reply after that, he tapped Charizard and they flew off again, over the forest and towards Pallet Town.
Parker and his Umbreon stood and waited, a grin planted on Parker's face.
He prepared himself as the other four members made their way across the field, heading straight for Parker.
Ash landed outside of the lab and returned Charizard, before rushing in.
"What happened to Parker?" Gary instantly asked.
"He stayed behind, Team Shadow showed up out of nowhere and we need to hurry" Ash rushed through the main room and down the corridor, not even explaining anything else. He barged through the door and explained the situation to the rest of them, before handing Professor Oak everything.
"I will need help with all of this" Professor Oak was fascinated by the instructions and the codes, but he didn't have the faintest idea of how to use them.
Ash headed back out to the main room and asked Clemont to come.
"We need you to help build everything and then, if you can try, crack and reverse the code on the chip Professor Oak has" Ash explained to Clemont, who digested the information.
"I will help in any way I can" Clemont reassured Ash.
"I will be back again soon" Ash rushed back outside and sprinted in the direction of Parker's location.
I can't leave a man behind. Even if you have put me through hell. Everything you do now is for Serena, so it has to make you a good person.
"I already know what you are thinking, Ash" Gary smirked as he sprinted next to Ash.
"A friend of Ash is a friend of ours, no one gets left behind" Cilan smiled at Ash, followed by Brock. The boys broke through the forest, to see Parker being overwhelmed by the other four members of Team Shadow.
"You really thought that just because we followed you, that we would be weak?" Elizabeth scoffed. "Don't make me laugh"
"Excuse me, but did someone order a butt kicking?" Gary put his hand above his eyes, searching left and right, before grinning like an idiot.
"Leave" Parker slowly got up, his Umbreon following his movements, both stumbling around on their feet.
"Huh?" Ash looked at the back of Parker's head.
"You don't need to help me. Look at what I did to you. Just leave" Parker snapped at Ash. "LEAVE"
"I think you have owed your debts, by being the only one that could help us" Ash stepped past Parker with his Pikachu. "Everyone stand back, I'll handle this"
"You really think you have the strength to take us down?" Elizabeth tutted. "I swear you idiots are all misguided"
"I don't think I have any sort of strength" Ash shrugged, mimicking the casual ways of the old Parker.
"Don't mock Team Shadow!" Elizabeth pointed at Ash. "Get him!"
"Uh-uh" Ash held a finger out and wagged it, before pointing up at the sky.
At that moment, just as everyone looked up, a police helicopter came into view. The helicopter dropped a net on the members of Team Shadow, including Parker.
Officer Jenny came on her bike, skidding to a stop.
"Thanks for the call Ash" Officer Jenny walked over to the net.
"Wait" Ash stopped her and then gestured to Parker. "I promised him that he would be safe. So please, just for me, can you spare him?"
"He has done a major crime and needs to be sent to prison" Officer Jenny raised her hand, signalling Ash to not reply as he opened his mouth.
"It's okay Ash" Parker spoke, coughing and sighing in pain. "I know you won't be holding your end of the deal, but this will give me time to think. Just let me go"
"Are you sure it's what you want?" Ash stared hard at Parker, who stared twice as hard back.
"One hundred percent" Parker allowed Jenny to cuff him and sat him on the police bike, before riding off.
"What the hell, Ketchum?" Gary punched Ash's arm in annoyance. "We was following you, ready to fight and you pull this stun by setting up a trap with the police?"
"When Parker said he was staying behind, I called them up on the way here and set everything up" Ash explained, his eyes tracking the bike that was disappearing into the distance.
Everyone followed his gaze and Gary patted Ash's back.
"Don't worry, he will return soon enough" He said reassuringly.
Ash just smiled, feeling glad that the whole ideal looked over.
"Yeah" He replied simply. "We better head back, the helicopter crew can handle the rest"
Also, the police had managed to recapture The Boss, who was secretly trying to make his escape to another region, using the boat. Ash had bet on that happening and asked Officer Jenny to keep the docks in check.
As soon as the guys got back, the other three made their way into the crowd, Professor Oak at the front.
"Professor?" Ash asked, wondering what he might say.
"Clemont is doing some final adjustments. Then, we will hit the button" Professor Oak put a hand on Ash's shoulder. "Everything will be okay"
"You have made it so soon?" Ash felt like crying, but he smiled instead, thinking of Parker. "You made a worthy sacrifice. I owe you big time when I see you again"
"Huh?" Professor Oak asked, puzzled by Ash speaking to himself.
"Doesn't matter" Ash looked at the crowd, that had now parted.
"Are you ready then, Ash?" Professor asked Ash, gesturing to the corridor.
"I was born ready" Ash headed in after the Professor. Serena was surrounded by machines, an exact replica of the machine used on her not too long ago, in the past.
"It's now ready to go. All I need to do is hit the button and then it should begin" Clemont cracked his fingers and stretching his arms. "Do you want me to leave?"
"Do the honours, Clemont" Ash moved Clemont back to his original position.
"Are you sure? What if it doesn't work?" Clemont gulped nervously.
"It will work. I believe in you Clemont and I believe in Parker and what he has done for us at this moment, so press it"
"Ok" Clemont took a deep breath and hovered his finger over the button. "Ready?"
"Press it" Ash repeated and Clemont pressed it. A bright light emitted from the machines as they began to work over Serena. She became encased in the white light, screaming intensely and writhing around slightly in agony.
The white light expanded through the whole room, making every go bright.
The light slowly began to fade, Ash instantly jumping next to Serena.
She had her eyes closed, however. No response came from her as Ash slowly poked her arm. But then, suddenly, her eyes began to open, ever so slightly, the deep ocean blue colour back in them. Ash stared into her eyes, everything back to normal and wrapped his arms around her, bringing her in.
The shock of everything made her burst into tears, Ash rocking her gently.
"Everything is okay now, everything is okay" Ash whispered in her ear, keeping her close. Everyone else stared through the door window, Clemont and Professor Oak sharing a smile.
Everything is okay.
Two weeks later...
"Sometimes in life, being good means being evil. Just when you think you are the good guy, you have to do something that means you become the antagonist, the person who looks to cause trouble. No matter what the cause is, you are labelled a villain. Looking back on everything retrospectively, I do and I don't regret my decisions. For one moment, I would think about what I am doing and whether it is right or not, but then I realized that everyone has misguided ideologies and inspirations for their duties, because they do good things for the wrong reason, whereas some people try and counter the good things with bad things, again, for the wrong reason. Evil vs good is a never ending circle, that will always label one person good and one bad, but they can switch at any time, but they don't care, so long as their actions make them feel good"
"You think this suggests what you did was right because it felt good?"
"Sure it felt good, at one point. But, people change for the better. Ash was all for justice and he is in no way one of the bad guys. He made me realize who I used to be and what I have become. A follower of misguided ideologies, a villain. Ash's ideologies were not misguided. He had the underlying support of his dozen friends to keep him going. As soon as I helped them, I was brought here"
"You realize that your actions still warrant time in our facility?"
"I understand, one hundred percent. Hopefully, Ash can live a happy life now and continue on a new journey, because I will meet him during that journey"
"Thanks for your time, Parker"
"No problem, officer"
Parker headed through the iron door and head to the room that he was going to be staying in, a place that could give him time to consider his future, consider what he did in the past. A place to rectify any problems.
Meanwhile, at the beach...
Everyone was having a great time, splashing water, lying down in the shade, relaxing. Dawn and May continued to hit a volleyball back and forth to each other, Serena, Misty and Iris laying down on lounge chairs, sitting in the sun.
The guys were all gather in the water, just messing around, dunking each other.
To think two weeks ago, we had the worst week of our lives. Everything has turned around now, Serena is okay, everyone is okay. Maybe this is the end of another journey. But what will be next?
"Ash?" Gary broke off his train of thought?
"Huh?" Ash came back to reality, looking at Gary, who was grinning.
"Don't you think Serena looks a little too dry?" Gary rubbed his hands together like his plan was the master plan.
"You know what Gary?" Ash said, standing up out of the water.
"What?" Gary took his turn to ask.
"You're a genius" Ash dunked Gary, rushing off before he could do anything in return and rushed over to Serena.
Ash then wrapped his arms around Serena, scooping her up into his arms.
"Ash!" Serena yelled, trying to get off of him as he ran back to the water, jumping in with her in his arms.
They rose back to surface, Serena taking time to catch her breath, shock still on her face.
"You looked a little too dry" Ash shrugged at Serena and then smirked.
"Ash Ketchum, get back here!" Serena began to swim after Ash, chasing him around the water. She managed to catch up, grabbing his ankles and pulling him into the water. They went in really deep, staring at each other in the water, with smiles. As soon as they rose back up, their gazes froze.
"I am so glad everything is okay now" Ash's smile widened slightly.
"So am I" Serena put her arms around Ash.
"I love you"
"I love you too"
Serena and Ash locked lips at that moment, ignoring the world and letting their love be known.
There is no way this is the end of my journeys. With each journey ending, a new one always shows up. I suppose that is the life of Ash Ketchum. One thing is for sure, though. There is now a big change in my journeys. A really big change that will impact my life forever.
Serena.
She is my everything now and without her, my journeys would never be the same. Because she is my treasure, something I want to protect.
Serena, I love you.
-----------------
The curtains have closed, what did you think?
This was the hardest thing I have written in my life. Someone else try and write a 60 chapter story, because I always feel like I have missed out important things, or even made storyline mistakes and messed up big time. I also feel like the ending is good, but not as good as I could make it.
I just wanted to do the finale and get it done, but at the same time, I didn't.
This book has been one hell of a ride, we have over 16k reads and almost 1k votes, which is just mind blowing. 60 chapters does indicate a lot of reads, but with 100+ per chapter, I just can't thank you all enough for the support.
I only write for fun, but I am so happy to see positivity everywhere. I usually like criticism, but this community is so nice, I just love you all XD
I guess I can't describe how awesome you guys are, so lets leave it there.
I may or may not have more stories in the future, who knows? You will have to keep an eye on my creations and wait.
I am sure as hell going to take some off of hold and finish them, in the near future.
I want to wish everyone else in the amourshipping watties good luck, it is going to be fun to see the winners and read their books in a few months :D
Speaking of books, I wanted to take this moment to shout some people out, because their books are just outstanding. I don't think I can compare, to be honest.
So, here is the list:
EthanSK02 He has an amazing book he has been working on for some time and I think he deserves more, a very talented writer with a good amourshipping. Please take some time to check his books out :)
Jackie_Sparks Many people read Jackie's newest book (The Musician), but it definitely deserves more attention. Everyone has to read the Your Lie In April/Pokemon mix, because it is amazingly well done. DO IT!
Grace_Everdeen I have been reading her book (A New Adventure) and it is a great, 12-13 chapter book. Just like the rest, make sure you give it a chance and read it if you haven't, because there are a lot of books that have been recognized, but they deserve more, because I know there is more this community can give :D
Pixel_Stix I read one chapter and it turned into two, then it turned into loads. She is another talented writer, who, just like the rest, deserves loads of reads, comments, votes, followers, people who will interact with her.
Crys-Chan She started a book recently (Sakura Sickness) and it is really interesting. Just as good as everything else I have read on Wattpad, everyone I have listed is just as good as the next, so get some more reading done, since we are done here.
I just made it sound like people want reads and votes, etc. I just want people to recognize the good writers that I have seen (there are loads more)
So with that, one last thank you from me.
Enjoy other peoples stories.
I will be editing all 60 chapters over the coming weeks.
Until next time!
