Chapter 49 - Lance & Iris vs Zekrom
Everything was calming down inside, but the battle on the outside was just beginning to heat up. Everyone was spreading out and pairing up, some even joining up to make teams of three, to drive back Team Shadow and stop their plan from progressing. They had made lots of progress, using Zekrom and Darkrai as their catalysts, but each time a battle occurred, the sun started to rise again and everything was ok again. But, The Boss still hadn't deployed his Pokemon control machine that he was using on Zekrom and had even used on Ash, proving it to be effective on humans that are holding their Pokemon.
Iris broke off from Cilan and headed straight to Lance, the champion of the Kanto region.
"You're one of Ash's friends?" he said without taking his eyes off of his Dragonite, who was chasing down Zekrom in the air.
"Yes and I want to help" Iris offered, making Lance put his attention on her for a moment.
"What type of help are we talking?" Lance asked, gesturing to Iris's pokeball.
Iris through out her pokeball and out came her Dragonite.
"Hmmph, I see" Lance smiled and then nodded. "Guess I have no choice, lets take down this Zekrom together"
"Right" Iris nodded, turning to her Dragonite. "Are you ready?"
Dragonite nodded and then took to the skies, following Lance's Dragonite.
At that moment, there was a flash as the electrical energy in the area increased tenfold. Zekrom clenched his fists as the electricity surrounded his body, then suddenly, Zekrom headed full speed into the pair of Dragonite's.
"Quick, move out of the way" Iris and Lance said in unison, watching as the two Dragonites dodged the attack, but Zekrom swooped around and caught Lance's Dragonite with a thunderous attack, causing his Dragonite to hit the ground with a lot of force.
"Dragonite, flamethrower!" Iris continued to put up a fight and her Dragonite, being tough and determined, put everything into this move as he opened his mouth, firing off a huge burst of fire at Zekrom, who swooped up into the sky to dodge the move, before flying just above Iris's Dragonite and letting off a huge fusion bolt, the blue thunderbolt striking Dragonite down onto the ground.
"Dragonite, you okay?" Iris shouted to her Pokemon just after he crashed into the ground.
"I guess we need a little team work" Lance suggested. "I will distract Zekrom and you take him from behind, use everything you can"
"Got it" Iris replied, preparing herself for the attack. They both craned their necks upward slightly, to keep Zekrom in their view.
"Dragonite, dragon claw" Lance went first, both of them watching closely as his Dragonite charged Zekrom, his claw changing colour and shining. Dragonite slashed, just as Zekrom backed off slightly. He kept on going, keeping Zekrom on the back foot.
"Now!" Lance shouted, cueing Iris, who almost jumped out of her skin in response.
"Dragonite, ice beam" Iris took her turn and Dragonite rushed in immediately, not wasting any time. He opened his mouth and the ice shot out like a cannon, rushing through the sky in a cold wave. Zekrom was struck by the ice beam, but it was almost like poking a bear with a stick, except this bear reacted so quickly that both Dragonite's couldn't move in time.
Zekrom activated his own dragon claw, striking down Lance's Dragonite once again. He then instantly turned and flew across to Iris's Dragonite, the blue electrical energy surrounding Zekrom's body once more as he hit Dragonite with a fusion bolt.
Both Dragonite's fell back down again, but adamantly got back up, refusing to back down.
"I can see your Dragonite is just as stubborn as mine" Lance joked, Iris frowned.
"Lets just hit Zekrom with everything we have, Dragonite, flamethrower!" Iris started off with flamethrower, waiting for Dragonite to do the move. As soon as the fire stopped, she continued. "Ice beam!"
"Dragonite, dragon claw again!" Lance decided to do the same strategy again, but Iris was planning ahead even then.
The claw connected this time, catching Zekrom off guard. The numbers advantage allowing Iris's Dragonite to fire off enough beam of ice, striking Zekrom while he was dazed.
"Now, use dragon rush" Iris knew it was risky, since Zekrom had speed on his side. The dragon aura moulded over her Dragonite as he flew down into Zekrom, who swiftly dodged the attack as Iris expected.
"Dragonite, wing attack!" Lance chose a perfect moment to distract Zekrom, who had just dodged an attack. His Dragonite swooped in, the dragon Pokemon's wing glowing with a bright aura. Lance's Dragonite slammed its wing into Zekrom, in an attempt to keep Zekrom under pressure.
But, with flying moves being weak against electric Pokemon in the first place, Zekrom latched onto Lance's Dragonite and then roared with all of his might, the sound waves hitting Dragonite with direct, consecutive hits, the hyper voice hurting a lot.
"Dragonite, use twister!" Lance watched as his Dragonite backed off and then he conjured up a large gust of wind with his wings. It began to get bigger and bigger, a large tornado that caused the wind to pick up everywhere, everyone being affected by it heavily.
Iris then saw the perfect chance to get Zekrom.
"Dragonite, flamethrower into the twister" she shouted at Dragonite, relaying her message for him to put everything into the flamethrower. Dragonite open his mouth and let the flames shoot out, the power causing a great heatwave throughout the field. The flames rose up the twister, slowly causing it to become a fully transformed flame-twister, like a huge explosion had just erupted from the ground, but it was moving around with great wind.
The twister hit Zekrom just as the flames shot up, causing two moves to hit the legendary Pokemon at once.
"Did we get it?" Iris wondered to herself, as the legendary Pokemon went quiet.
"I wouldn't be so sure, stay on your guard" Lance warned, watching and waiting for something to happen.
But nothing happened. As soon as the fire-twister dissipated, there was nothing there. Zekrom had flown away.
"Wha-" Iris didn't know what to say.
"Looks like our fight is over, but we better stay here just incase Zekrom shows up again" Lance kept Iris on her toes, she immediately straightened up and nodded.
"Dragonite, lets keep watch here" she said to her Pokemon, who landed by her side.
Meanwhile, in the building, Ash was resting, with Serena sitting right by his side. Misty and Cynthia had gone outside to assist in battle, but Serena wanted to stay with Ash.
She let her fingers linger on his limp ones, his unconscious body not replying.
"I don't care what anyone says, or whatever happens. We will come out of this together, Ash" Serena whispered to him, or more so herself.
Serena stifled a sniff. "I am kind of glad we managed to stop the bleeding. I thought you was in big trouble. As soon as you wake up, I will make sure you know how stupid you are" she laughed to herself.
Suddenly, Ash's fingers tightened over hers, making her peer down at Ash, who had slowly woken up.
"I know I am an idiot" he smiled at her, before Serena leaped straight into him, holding onto him tightly. "Woah, woah, it hurts" Ash winced at the pain, Serena letting go instantly.
"Sorry" she went slightly red.
"It's fine, you must be glad to see me awake. What's going on?" Ash asked Serena, looking around. All they could hear was explosions and shouts outside. Ash turned and saw the huge hole in the side of the building. "Woah, what happened?!"
"Team Shadow have shown up, Darkrai and Zekrom too. There is a huge battle outside, four champions and our friends-" Serena was cut off by Ash, who lifted his hand up.
"I need to help" He interjected, before struggling to his feet, tensing his body and sucking in a deep breath to hold in the pain.
"You need to rest, besides, Pikachu isn't with you" Serena pointed out, making Ash worried.
He had a flashback to when he was conscious. "Oh yeah! I told them to run" he remembered, frowning. "I will need to find them then"
"No" Serena made Ash lie back down. "With the carnage going on, they will find us"
So with that, Sceptile and Pikachu, who had already started to try and find Ash, continued their journey as an impatient Ash, who wanted to help his friends, waited.
He waited for his Pokemon, for Serena.
Because she was his light, blocking out the bad things that had occurred, obscuring the shadows around them.

Wow, almost on chapter 50. Incredible feat for a not-so-good book (I doubt I can compare myself to Pika or Typovo at this stage, or any other amour writers tbh)
Hope you enjoyed, we are now down to the last 10 chapters, so the finale will be soon.
I plan on making the last five chapters at least 2,500 words (minimum) each.
