Chapter 31 - Final Sixty-Four!
"Ladies and gentleman, this is it! The final sixty-four competitors have spent the last few weeks overcoming the obstacles in their way to get to here, the final matches" The announcer paused from her announcing while the crowd cheered. "The 32 matches will be selected at random. 5 matches will 4 matches will occur at the same time, but the people in here are lucky enough to see matches from every round and also the final match!" Her talk was met by more ground shaking cheers, the excitement already reaching its peak.
"You ready buddy?" Ash turned to Pikachu, who only had to nod. Ash knew he was ready. Everyone else stood around Ash, each preparing themselves as the announcer gestured to the big screen.
"And here is our first match of the day, in this very stadium!" She said as the pictures began to change. The first picture popped up. "The first competitor is John of Johto, who will he be facing?"
Then, the second stopped and she tried to sound a little more ecstatic to get the crowd pumped up. "And there you have it folks, the first match is John vs Parker. Two very talented young boys take the centre stage in our first match to kick off the day in stadium 1!"
"And the match in stadium 2..." The announcer looked up to the big screen as the same process occurred. "Ash of Kanto!" and then "Lily of Hoenn!"
"Ok then buddy, lets head over to the second stadium!" Ash said, wheeling away as fast as he could.
"Good luck!" He heard various shouts from the others, running outside to the second stadium.
"Ok, back to the screen for stadium 3!" The announcer continued the process, with none of Ash's friends getting into the first four matches. Also, only Parker from Team Shadow had a match and he was on the main stage.
"For the first match, all competitors can only use 3 Pokemon, choose wisely and goodluck!" The announcer nodded and this acted as a signal, a referee came out in each stadium, ready to call the match. The big screens surrounding the main stadium all turned on, revealing the other three matches. The three smaller stadiums also turned their screens on, to watch the other matches simultaneously.
"AND...begin!" The referee's said in unison, starting each match.
"Lets go, Sceptile, you're up first!" Ash declared, releasing Sceptile from his pokeball.
"Hmmph" Lily said in an annoyed voice, but then she grinned. "Lets go, Flareon!"
"A fire type, huh?" Ash said, studying the Flareon. "Ok then, Sceptile, quick attack!"
Sceptile rushed forward, slowly gaining speed and making its size a completely invalid factor. Sceptile rushed Flareon, who took the hit with its trainer not saying anything. Flareon flipped into the air and landed with a graceful landing.
"Flareon, flamethrower!" Lily shouted out.
Flareon took in the words and gracefully leapt forward, like it was dancing. The flames ejected from its mouth, surrounding Sceptile, who couldn't dodge due to the leap Flareon had executed.
"Sceptile, use leaf blade!" Ash gritted his teeth, hoping Sceptile could fight the flames.
Sceptile did, leaping through the flames, the leafs hanging of its arms turning a brighter green, cutting down Flareon. Sceptile's strength sent Flareon back to Lily, where it instantly span back up on all fours.
"Flareon, use attract!" Lily shouted, causing Ash to be slightly stunned.
"Not everyday you get a female eevee" He said with a little smirk, before throwing a hand forward. "Sceptile, back off and use leaf storm!"
Sceptile stepped back as the hearts floated over, coating itself in a storm of leaves. The leaves cut off the hearts, stopping any from contacting Sceptile and thus protecting it.
"Sceptile, agility lets go!" Ash shouted, spinning his cap around to show how serious he was about the tournament. Sceptile focused, activating the psychic move and increasing its speed. "Now, quick attack!"
Sceptile was a literal blur, being next to Ash for one second and then hitting the Flareon within the next. The crowd gasped, wondering what had just happened because of the speed. Flareon recovered well and Lily continued to grin.
"Flareon, lava plume" She flashed an even bigger grin, before staring tensely at Flareon, who summoned up as much fire as possible, then, then it all began to rain down, the molten hot lava crashing and burning around Flareon. Sceptile had no where to go and Ash knew it.
"Sceptile, put everything into this leaf storm!" Ash emphasised his words, encouraging Sceptile to go full power. Sceptile focused and summoned up a large storm, all of the leaves thickening and the number of leaves increasing. The lava that crashing around Sceptile burned down the leaves, but this lessened the damage on Sceptile, who was forced to one knee, almost falling down.
"Sceptile, hold on and use leaf blade!" Ash urged on Sceptile, who got back up on both feet and, using the excess agility speed, dashed forward at Flareon.
"Dodge it!" Lily said, causing Flareon to jump into the air, one of Sceptile's blades missed, making Lily grin.
"Erm, you forgot about the other" Ash pointed, as Sceptile done a 180 degree spin and threw his arm down at Flareon, cracking the blade across Flareon's back. There was a moment of silence as everything seemed over. The Referee gave an intense stare at Flareon, who wasn't moving.
"Wait!" Lily said just before the Ref decided to raise his flag and declare her first lost. Flareon twitched and she smiled. "Flareon, flare blitz!"
Flareon's eyes immediately flashed open. She span round, facing Sceptile as she became shrouded in a large fireball, leaping up into Sceptile's gut and causing a large fiery explosion.
"Sceptile!" Ash shouted out in worry, as both Pokemon came into view.
Sceptile was not standing, lying on its back, while Flareon was also not standing, having caused recoil damage with the move.
"Sceptile and Flareon are both unable to battle!" The Referee declared.
"Ok! Greninja, it's your turn!" Ash threw his pokeball out and Greninja appeared before everyone.
"Jolteon, I choose you" Lily decided on her Pokemon, sending out her second eeveelution.
Meanwhile, in stadium one, Parker was still using his first Pokemon, whereas his opponent, John was on his final Pokemon.
"Bisharp, metal claw!" Parker was shouting out to his Bisharp, who charged forward, showing incredible speed. Bisharp's unmatched speed was too overwhelming for John's Raichu, as the shiny steel arm of Bisharp slammed down into Raichu's gut, sending it flying back against the wall.
"Raichu is unable to battle. The winner of the match is, Parker!" The Referee in stadium 1 had called the first match, leaving stadium 2, 3 and 4 still going strong. Everyone in the main stadium turned to the screens.
"It seems like Ash and that girl, Lily I think, are having an intense match" Serena said, pointing up to the screen.
"You're right" Misty looked at the other two screens. "This match is over and the other two are in the final stages, whereas Ash's match is only just halfway"
"His opponent must be very strong" Brock commented, then turning to the main arena they was in. "Not as strong as Parker though"
"Team Shadow sure do have lots of strong dark types, don't they?" Iris folded her arms and scowled at Parker, who wasn't looking their way. He caught a glimpse of her scowl and turned, winking at her and then adding a grin as he made his way out of the stadium.
"Lets go cheer on Ash!" Serena said like it was the best idea in the world.
"Sounds like a plan!" Miette agreed and they rushed off.
"They are so hopeless" Dawn laughed, shaking her head as they all followed.
"You can say that again" May said, joining in the little laugh.
With the rest of the matches over, everyone had turned to Ash's match against Lily. It was still a 2 v 2 match, except Greninja had been switched out for Pikachu, making it an electric vs electric match up.
"Jolteon, you can do this!" Lily gave her Pokemon encouragement, making Ash feel uneasy.
"Don't worry buddy, you have this in the bag. Lets show them what we have got!" Ash smiled at Pikachu, who fist pumped and nodded with confidence.
"Pika!" He exclaimed, before turning to Jolteon.
Ash prepared to begin the second part of the tournament, the tournament of his dreams and his nightmares.

Ok, quick note. 'Lily' and 'John' are random names for random characters. I can't just blank out the other competitors, so I have to come up with names x)
Hope you enjoyed!
