"Good morning, sunshine!"
You looked back at your bedroom door and saw Yejoon, so you ran over and gave him a hug. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to take my favorite girl to school today." He smiled, then he furrowed his eyebrows. "Did you have something on your wrist?"
He pulled your arm away from him and looked at your wrist. "Uh, last night a lot of stuff went down, and Daehyun pushed me, so I caught myself and landed wrong."
"He pushed you? Does Hyunjin know about this?"
"He was here when it happened." You nodded. "Daehyun ended up going to the hospital last night."
"Is Hyunjin okay?"
"Some cuts and bruises. He says he's okay."
Yejoon ruffled your hair and grabbed your backpack for you. "Other than that, is everyone else okay?"
He started walking, and you followed him out of your room. "Um, my dad slept on the couch last night, and my mother isn't here, so she probably went out and did something stupid last night, and the Kims are probably at the hospital with Daehyun."
He got to the front door and opened it. "Do you wanna stay with me for a little while?"
You shook your head. "I need to stay here with my dad, but thank you for the offer, Joon."
After the nurse re-wrapped your wrist, all while emphasizing how important it was for you to go to the doctor, you thanked her and headed to class. On your way there, you heard giggling and stopped, turning back around so you could peek past the corner. You saw Yui get up on her tiptoes, and Hyunjin step back from her. She tried to do it again, and you rolled your eyes as you walked over to them, smiling up at Hyunjin.
"Hey, Hyunjin."
Yui watched as you slid your hand into his, and you saw her expression change. His fingers interlaced with yours, and his finger tips were gentle on your skin.
"Hi, princess."
Your cheeks got hot, and you looked over at Yui. "Did I interrupt something?"
She scoffed and crossed her arms. "You are so unbelievable."
Then she walked off and disappeared behind the wall. "Thank you." Hyunjin sighed.
Both of you headed to class. "I wasn't gonna let you suffer any longer."
He smiled and you were about to open the classroom door, when he grabbed your face and kissed you. Without saying another word, he opened the door and told you to walk in first. When you sat down, Yejoon looked back at you and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why are you blushing like that."
"Like what?"
"Like you just got kissed." He said, and you looked up at him, making him grin. "You just got kissed, didn't you?"
You nodded, smiling big. "Yeah."
After school, you were sitting on your bed and watching the rain fall against your window. The silence made your mind wander, and suddenly you remembered something. That night that you saw your mother and Mr. Kim together was such a mess, that things that should've clicked, didn't.
Your mother hated clubs.
She thought she was too good to be around all those 'horny people', so she said, and if she were to go anywhere late at night, it would be somewhere five star and expensive, somewhere that wouldn't make her look bad. This realization hit you hard, and you didn't realize how fast your heart was beating until you heard it in your ears.
There was something else going on between your mother and Mr. Kim.
You jumped off your bed and put your raincoat on, sneaking out your window. You were so caught up in the moment that you didn't grab your phone or anything, only your keys, and you drove to the club in near tears. When you got there, you ran inside and found your way to the managers office, knocking loudly.
"What, what- who are you?"
"I need to ask you an extremely important question, please don't waste my time."
"Little girl-"
"Don't talk to me like that. Some people I know were here not that long ago. Did they leave something behind?"
He cocked his head. "Why are you asking me?"
"Just answer the question! Please."
He flinched a bit when you raised your voice. "Were they in a room? If they were, what number?"
"Twenty seven."
He walked into his office and looked through a cabinet, pulling something out. "We called the number on this form, but no one picked up. We've been keeping it since we found it."
He handed you the bag that had some papers in it, and you turned it so you could read it correctly. Your heart dropped and your eyes started watering.
Divorce papers.
"Thank you, for your help." You mumbled.
Then you went to your car, threw the papers into your passenger seat, and started driving with no particular destination.
Hyunjin's phone started ringing, and he quickly answered when he saw it was your dad.
"Hyunjin, is Y/N with you?"
"No, sir. Why?"
"She's not in her bedroom. She's no where in the house."
Hyunjin's heart dropped. "She's gone? Have you tried calling her?"
"She left her phone here. That's why I called you. I figured you would know where she is."
Hyunjin's thoughts were all over the place, and then he remembered something. "I think I might know where she is."
"Oh, thank God."
"I'll let you know what I find out."
Your father thanked him and hung up, then Hyunjin quickly went downstairs and grabbed his keys. "Where are you going?"
He turned around to his mom and gave her a quick hug. "I'm gonna go and try to find Y/N."
"Find her?" His moms expression flushed with worry.
"Yeah. Her dad called me, and he doesn't know where she went, and she left her phone at the house. I think I might know where she is, though."
She nodded and gave him a small smile. "You're a good boy, Hyunjin."
He smiled in return and left the house, getting in his car and driving towards the city. Whenever something made you upset, you always went to the same place; an all night coffee shop that you loved. He pulled into the parking lot and rushed out of his car, walking in to see you at the back of the shop.
His heart broke when he saw how hurt you looked; you were staring at some papers in front of you, you were crying to a point where he could see you shaking, you looked tired, you were holding onto your wrist like it hurt, and you never looked up once too see who had walked in.
He slowly approached and sat in front of you, and when you looked up, Hyunjin couldn't help but tear up himself.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He whispered.
You wiped your eyes and pushed your hair back from your face. "I was thinking earlier, and I remembered that my mother hates clubs, so why would she go to one with Mr. Kim? There had to be another reason, other than sex, because she hates clubs, despises them. So, I went back and asked the manager if he found anything in the room after they left, and he gave me this."
You pushed the papers towards him and he looked at it, then back at you. "She wants to get a divorce?"
"Yeah," you sighed, sniffling. "And that's gonna break my dad's heart."
You started crying again and he grabbed your hand, making you look up. "I'll stay with you tonight if you want, but we have to get you home, ice your wrist, and get some rest."
"You'll stay?" You whispered.
"Of course I'll stay."
You nodded and grabbed the papers. Hyunjin walked you to your car, then he went to his and followed you to your house. When you walked in, your dad was pacing, and as soon as he saw you, he pulled you into a hug.
"Thank God, you're okay."
You nodded against his shoulder. "I'm okay."
While you hugged your dad with your free arm, you hid the papers behind your back with the other.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Can we- can we talk about it in the morning?"
"Of course. Of course. Go get some rest, okay?"
You nodded. "You need rest, too."
He smiled at you, and you went up to your room, while Hyunjin got some ice. You quickly changed into shorts and a t-shirt, then you sat on your bed. Hyunjin came back and sat next to you, unwrapping your wrist and gently putting the ice on it. You were staring down at your comforter, so he carefully grabbed your chin and made you look up at him.
"You'll get through this, just like you've gotten through everything else so far." He whispered. "Me and Yejoon, we'll be here for you, and your dad in this case, always."
"I know." You replied. "I know. Thank you."
You smiled weakly at him and he kissed your forehead. "We'll ice your wrist for a little longer and then we can go to sleep, okay?"
You nodded, and as you iced your wrist, you ranted to him about the business, the wedding, the affair, and the divorce; you just let everything out. You told him your plan, and he thought it was a good plan, and he reassured you that you could do it. Then, he rewrapped your wrist and both of you laid down, and he pulled you against his warm chest.
"Thank you, Hyunjin. For everything." You whispered.
His grip tightened slightly. "You don't have to thank me, Y/N. This is what I'm here for."
