I Will Always Find You

GODLY TEARS. The Witcher

Brick by brick, Deanna DéGarmo planned to rebuild herself.

She once believed in Gods who would protect her from the hurricane within her heart; the chaos that followed her footsteps as if it was merely her shadow. Deanna believed the golden ichor that belonged in the veins of gods and goddesses was what was keeping her alive because there would always be someone to watch over her. A girl with a broken glass heart and blood-stained past, grit and blood caught under her nails, purple marks around her eyes, and never-ending scars that told a story no man dared to read, that was who she was. Perhaps when she was younger, Deanna prayed things would be different, that she would be braver than she was despite her Destiny. That was what she was brought up on — Destiny. Because without it she had no reason in the grim world of destruction that surely tore at her rotting body. It meant that whenever something miserable and gory ruined her life, there was always something to blame it on. The DéGarmos had this motto engaged into their very souls from birth — an excuse for people's bad behavior.

Destiny had always been and will stay, seen as a curse in disguise by the youngest sister. Something that took its disguise with malt liquor that burnt the throat just enough for it to be pleasurable, and bards' poetry while it seeped into people's distracted souls and destroyed those who did not deserve it, who had built their life on a lie of destiny and fate. Destiny bought a reason to tear them apart, inch by inch, before replacing them with a void as if they were nothing but decoration. The stains the curse left held next to nothing that any mortal soul could experience before completely losing themselves; the red that it would call its past willing to drown anyone that ventured too far into the darkness alone.  It was an easy escape from the pitch-black world, for someone who couldn't handle the curses of destiny when thrown at them. Unlike most, Deanna DéGarmo was forced to face her destiny head-on because, on the Continent, girls without the mental strength to fight their demons would never gain the good things left for them by the Gods they once cried for.

Much like the wretched thing itself, Deanna was born cursed. A child birthed from hell, a gift from Niya herself. Each broken piece of her body kissed by death, burned with despair and heartache. She walked the shadows and emerged with darkness in her eyes, spitting out evil — a child born of tragedy and the bodies of a million broken Gods from the angelic and sweetly sickening Fox Hollow.

Perhaps that was why when she found her estranged sister running a guild of assassins that were born in the shadows when she first menstruated, something was promising. The White Araneae would give her a life filled to the brim with sorrow, drowning blood, and the worst of all... Destiny. It was a life of endless dirty promises while they admired the luxuries of life they were so unfortunately not born into. The Dark Goddess of the East, Niya was able to allow them to destroy people's realities whilst holding Destiny in the palm of their hands like it was a fruit. These assassins worked as the failure of the women under the eclipse of the Black Sun, the leftovers to bring justice to the cult people across the East followed in secrecy. The Araneids carved their gold crowns out of stolen jewels with bloody, broken hands, and promised the river valleys that they would one day be stained the color of their pasts from the bodies of wrong-done humans. It was their purpose in life, the largest dirty promise ever heard.

And while she had always longed for the moment of being by the side of her perfect older sister once again, Deanna was smart enough to know that everything good in life never worked with girls like her. Because hand in hand with karma and fate, Destiny would find a way to bring the pain upon her with the strength of old Gods and dark deities.

Yet, she was good at avoiding whatever would come for her, it was something she had been doing for years now and she wasn't going to allow destiny to change. Especially not now. Deanna had not lived this life for so long to only end up failing right before completion, that was not her purpose. She was an unspoken enigma of aggression and Destiny's very own favorite toy — a skilled swordsman who battled her demons more than the wretched people around her. But it was not her purpose, that was her dirty promise from Niya. And it was why she did not bother to hide her annoyance when she stumbled across a problem in the form of two men within one of her most threatening contracts. Yet she could not find it in herself to worship the old Gods with slit throats and poisonous words, the Gods that caused reckoning and pain that had led her whole life away from the destiny of her life.

Whilst blindly hurtling through golden flames, limited luxuries, and romance, alongside monsters of the unknowns, Deanna realized Destiny was a curse hanging over her head, ready to pounce. And yet her old Gods and deities would not gain a delicate pray from Deanna DéGarmo, and that was her promise to her youth as she rebuilt herself. Rather, she vowed to make the Gods cry as she did for them.

Even if it meant destroying the Continent to do so.

Author's Notes guys... it's genuinely been five years since the creation of this plot and it is the first time she is getting a faceclaim change! my loyalty to hera helmar as deanna was unmatched but after watching the barbarians i knew that jeanne was too good to pass upon. but deanna has been with me since the start, and i cannot seem to shake her despite the three year wait between each season of this show. ive randomly decided to rewrite her despite the lack of recent content we have gotten for the new hemsworth season.

now, this book will start with season one as act one (mixed with au for most of it as deanna only appears in two episodes overall in s1) and then act two being set in season two. book two (acts three n four) will be s3 and s4 so basically each act will align with each season. this book will mainly focus around deanna's origins prior to meeting geralt/jaskier and what she is during it. it also includes the plot of deanna's sister and laurent, which is significant to how deanna views political agreements, etc.

inspiration for my darling deanna comes from: Johanna Mason (THG series), The Dark Brotherhood (Skyrim, her guild plot follows this iykyk), and Aelin Galathynius (TOG series).

but anyway, i truly hope you enjoy this book when i get around to publishing the chapters!!
