Part 33

Nilsa blinked, looking over Rieka's soaking figure. "Right now?"

Rieka didn't seem to get the idea. "Of course."

Nilsa looked to Ronan for help, who luckily caught on faster than his sister. "We are both coated in enough water to water all the palace gardens and still have some left over."

It was as if the goddess just then noticed the shirt that stuck like glue to her due to the wetness of the fabric. "Very well. I shall meet you there when I am dressed." Rieka walked away and towards the palace.

"I'll take you there," Ronan stated.

Nilsa almost laughed at him. "What part of 'enough water to water all the palace gardens' did you not get?"

"The part where I am dry."

She was about to question it when within the blink of an eye he was dry. His tight shorts were now looser without the water, and his hair no longer stuck to his face. She regained her composure. "Yes, you are. Now you're just indecent." She pointed to his naked chest.

Ronan shrugged. "Can't win at everything." He grabbed her shoulder and in the blink of an eye, they were in Nilsa's study. Nobody paused to notice their arrival.

Nilsa had to blink several times to adjust to the new scenery. "I told you to warn me when you do that."

"Now what fun is that?" He moved to examine the books that Rieka had set out on a table for them. He scrunched his nose as he picked one up, blowing off a sheet of dust to read the cover. "Does she never clean these?"

Nilsa rolled her eyes, taking the book out of Ronan's hands and setting it back down on the table. "Careful. These are ancient scripts."

Ronan gave her a disgusted look. "You sound like my sister."

"Do I? Maybe it's because she would kill me if you ruined one of these books while I was with you. She already thinks our relationship is reckless and idiotic on my part."

He set his hands and leaned forward against the table to get closer to her, his lazy smile only inches away from her face. "We have a relationship?"

Nilsa's face heated. "Not in that way."

Ronan raised a black brow. "No? I surely wouldn't mind."

For once Nilsa was glad that Rieka came into the study to start the session, only because she was stuck for words. "No flirting in my study," the goddess states loud and clear. "Continue your childish actions when I am done with the prophet. Preferably a distance away from me."

"You ruin my fun," Ronan said with a pout.

"And I take great joy in it."

"What did you find?" Nilsa asked, dying to change the subject.

Rieka's golden eyes found her and then left to read the books set on the table. "I spent all of last night counting down every almighty being that has the power to send you these messages. Based on your silly desire to be a village fortune teller," Nilsa scoffed, "I was able to limit the options down to three." She opened three of the books, flipping them over and placing them side by side in front of Nilsa. Each had a detailed drawing of a person, two of them men and one female.

It was if a bell went off in Nilsa's head. Her eyes went directly to the male in the middle and refused to move to anything else.

Rieka noticed. "You found something, didn't you?"

Nilsa nodded. "The one in the middle. Who is he?"

Rieka's eyes widened slightly. Her movements were quick. She pushed Ronan roughly out of her line of movement and met Nilsa's side of the table, leaning against Nilsa to clearly see the book. She closed the other two and set them away. "He is called Tybalt, and he is one of the most powerful beings ever known to this earth."

"If he is only one of the most powerful, who holds the most power?"

Ronan had taken up a new spot against the side of a bookshelf, a good distance away from his sister. "Take a guess." She didn't need to.

"I don't know why it took me this long to realize," Rieka admitted. "Of course it's him."

Nilsa was about to reply when another being overtook her mind and she was pulled to the back of her mind. The words came out of her mouth but they didn't belong to her. "It took you long enough."

Rieka stiffened and her attention snapped upwards. Ronan's intrigued look was replaced with one of slight worry as he pushed himself off the bookshelf. "Can't say you helped much, Citali," Rieka said. "Not that I expected anything else from you."

Citali ran a finger across the wooden table, walking around the piece of furniture to face both of the gods. "Why would I? It is not my job to help the gods uncover their little mysteries."

"Do you not agree that Nilsa should know who is sending her messages?"

Nilsa focused on Ronan, who turned stone cold. She was never ashamed of Citali, nor was she now, but it was easy to say that it was hard to handle. He knew Citali was there, but she didn't know if anyone could be prepared for when she randomly popped up to the surface.

Citali shrugged. "Nilsa has always had a talent for uncovering information. If she wanted to know, she would have figured it out, but I don't see how it matters. Tybalt has taken quite a liking to her already. I can only imagine how pleased he will be when her power grows to her full potential." Nilsa could feel her eyes move towards Ronan. "How are you Ronan?" Citali asked. "You look much better than you did the last time we talked."

"It appears that whenever I see you, blood follows," Ronan snapped. He took a step forward. "Do you ask for her permission before you overtake her body or do you just pop in whenever you like?" Nilsa wondered if he knew what dangerous territory he was stepping in.

Citali smirked. "Nilsa Maistell gave me full control of her body. Consider her lucky that I stay inside most of the time. Most Oracles prefer to take full control of the vessel."

Even when Nilsa was stuffed in the deepest corner of her mind, Ronan still managed to look directly at her, into her really. "How does she feel when she's stuck in there?"

"Worried," Citali said honestly. "Nilsa likes control, something she loses when I come out." Citali stepped even closer and spoke so quietly that only her and Ronan could hear what was being said. "She likes to know everything, and like I said, she will find out what is to come, possibly sooner than you will be ready for."

Ronan's jaw clenched. "I'm right, aren't I?"

"It shouldn't have taken an Oracle to confirm such a thing." Citali returned to where Nilsa had been standing. "Take care. I may be returning closer than expected." With that, Nilsa was pushed back into control, this time with such a force that she needed to grab onto the the table to stabilize herself. Her breaths came out heavy.

Ronan spoke from behind her. "I'm going to change now," he stated before his footsteps left the room quickly. Had she scared him? What was he hiding? What was I supposed to find out?

"Tell me prophet, and tell me honestly," Rieka said quietly so nobody else in the study heard. "When Citali takes control of your body, do you feel safe?"

Most Oracles prefer to take full control of the vessel. Was that all she was? A vessel? It never occurred to her that Citali technically had more control of Nilsa's body than Nilsa had. Did she feel safe? Was she comfortable with the amount of control she'd given away? "I don't know," she replied honestly.
