On her 17 birthday which was a week or two from her first kiss with Nik was finally here. The family celebrated it by having delicious foods/sweets and a bonfire.

She was excited for her birthday like usual only family was allowed so everyone was there instead of superstars like normal. They all loved her in different ways and expressed it with bracelets. That's all she wanted was bracelets so that's what they made every year.

They did certain designs so it's not all the same which she thought was cool. She got one that was purple with metal looking like a tree that lost it'd leaves and it looked different from any normal bracelets she got, so she wore that more often and guess who got her that one. Kol of course. She treasured it and she...couldn't get it off.

Elijah told her in the early morning that he had big news for her and she would be happy. So, she was looking forward to this very much.

Kol has been distant lately, off doing who knows what but she thought he would come around after her birthday. She misses his cuddles and their talks. She truly did.

Niklaus well their not together but they did kiss two more times. She didn't know if he liked her or if it was just lust but they were friends as usual not awkward.

Astraea sat in a field with bekah she picked her favorite purple flowers in the field that Kol had shown her. Bekah helped do small buns with the rest braided for the brunettes hair while adding in the flowers.

She hummed a song as she picked some for bex as well. She enjoyed the sun that seeped through the trees and pieces of sunlight caught the girls faces. Bekah always enjoyed Raea's voice and enjoyed doing hair so this was nice and calming for her.

Once she was done she looked in the river to see her reflection. "Bekah...it's beautiful thank you."

Rebekah blushed and looked at her work it was really pretty. "No problem. Can you my hair? With no flowers this time." Astraea nodded immediately and helped her sister figure.

Bekah loved the simplicity of the braid and hugged Astraea. "Come. Let us rest and enjoy the view." The brunette pulled the younger blonde to lay down in the field. They laid down opposite of each other almost touching cheeks looking up at the sky through the rustling trees.

"It's really calm here." Bekah voices her opinion.

"Yes it most certainly is."

The stayed in silence for a while not breaking the peacefulness. You could hear the birds chirping and the trees swaying. It was a nice day. Soon the sun would set signaling dinner before the party.

"Can you sing that one song that you do all the time?" Bekah asked breaking the silence.

"Sure, sweetheart."

"Where did you learn it?"

"I don't know. I just seem to have it stuck in my head ever since I could remember." Astraea answered honestly. She really didn't know where she heard it or learned it from but it was beautiful and soft.

"I think family should be ready for you soon." Bekah said once she could see a orange and pink hue light up the sky.

The family had put out all of the birthday girls favorite food. Everyone had their gifts stashed somewhere and the few who weren't waiting for Astraea and Rebekah's return helped make sure everything was good.

Not long did the two girls walk to the home where everything was. Astraea liked this. Just family, the people who she loved the most surround her on her birthday.

She went straight to Esther and Mikael hugging them and saying a thank you. Esther pulled away from the hug looking the young brunette over.

"You look stunning darling." She smiled at her.

"Thank you. Bekah did it for me. She is really talented at hair." Esther nodded smiling in response.

Esther the kissed her cheek as she went to walk away to go to Elijah.

"Hey big bro." She smiled widely at him.

"Hey little sister. Having a good birthday?" She nodded not really paying attention, she wanted Kol. He was being weird and in all their life he has never left her side one day.

When one got sick the other would be by their side sick together. It was weird to not care if you get sick but they took care of each other, well with the help of Esther of course.

"You look beautiful, dear sister." He chuckled noticing her far away look and knowing who it was she wanted. Or at least he hoped it was who he thought. Niklaus wouldn't shut up about his kiss with the beautiful brunette, it was not what he wanted to hear between his half sister and half brother.

"Thank you."

"I see you mind is else where."

She sighed as she looked at her brother wearing a cheeky smile. "Where is he?"

"Which one?" He has to ask.

She cringed at the question, of course he knew, why wouldn't he? "You know?" She asked defeated.

He nods sighing, "Sister. He would not shut up." She smiled slightly when he chuckled.

"Kol." She said.

"He is in his room." That hurt her to hear. Was he not going to come? Why was he there?

"Thank you." She kissed his cheek and headed inside.

Elijah watched her walk away and he went off to find Niklaus.

She walked to his door and pushed it open. The smile that was on her face decided to make it's leave as she saw him in a hot and heavy make out with the girl she had avoided all contact with.

She soundlessly walked away from the door a tear making its way down her gorgeous face. She should be happy, not throwing a pity party for herself. This was her best friend, no one who she had a chance with. Kol was hot, a charmer and a nice 15 year old boy. But she couldn't help but feel hurt and defeated.

She wiped the silent tear away but she could not wipe the pain from her heart away. She held her head high a smile on face as she went out and grabbed her food.

Nik came up behind the broken hearted girl placing a kiss on her cheek. She smiled weakly turning around to face him. "Hello, Nik."

"Hello, love. You look absolutely amazing." He complimented her.

"Yes, I have been told. Thank you."

"Hope you enjoy the night but I think our brother is catching up to me." He smirked at her and kissed her cheek one last time before rushing off, leaving her giggling.

This was why Nik was so special to her, he made her smile no matter what. Even if she hadn't liked him that was, maybe she was starting to and maybe one day they would be together while Kol is with the girl.

Kol had joined in and saw the whole thing with Niklaus and his best friend which he didn't like, but maybe it was best I mean he did think he was going to marry this girl and she was nice and there marriage wouldn't be all that bad if he at least tried to like her.

Nevertheless, it hurt to see her with his half brother. They avoided each other for a remarkable amount of time given there wasn't many people there. Was this what they would have to deal with the rest of their life?

The campfire was lit and the food was changed to sweets. Elijah saw the way his sister looked since she got out of their home and hoped his younger brother didn't do anything stupid, but who was he kidding it's a young Kol of course he did.

He was hoping to hurry with the gifts so he could tell his sister of the news. He hoped just hoped he could help restore the bond his sister and brother once had.

When it came time for the gifts she got some new clothes from Esther and Mikael, flower crown and flower bracelet from Rebekah and Henri, obviously Bekah made it Henrik just added his name to one. Elijah got her a necklace with a white crystal and brown leather, Niklaus gave her some drawing he had done of her on their outings.

The most awkward one but they tried not to show it was Kol. He worked on it all week for her to make it special this time, it was a bracelet with violet beads in the middle of each braid of the black leather then it had a piece of him, his favorite color dark blue beads sit right next to the violet beads showing how close they were and their favorite colors together.

She smiled at him and he put it on her right wrist. She had claimed to him awhile back that her favorite hand and wrist was her right, and he remembered. She looked him in the eyes and hugged him.

"Happy birthday, love."

"Thank you." She held back the tears and held her smile that would have many men swoon.

"No problem darling."

But of course she couldn't have a good time the rest of the night because as soon as she went to sit next to Elijah near the campfire, the stupid girl that was not invited came along.

The girl went straight to Kol despite what her parents told her and hoped he loved her for she had fallen for the boy that she thought she would marry. She kissed him and when she did that she made sure she was all up on him.

It angered Astraea to no limits, and she excused herself from Elijah. Sniffling she walked ash, quite fast paced as well. Elijah didn't understand till he saw what she had looked at previously. His heart clenched at the sight and he automatically knew his sister was hurt.

Feeling a multitude of feelings she had to go. She went to the field she had thought of as calm. The dark sky brought no light her mood not helping. She cried and she made it rain and thunderstorm just around her.

Her once beautiful light braided hair with flowers was soaked and moved around her face. Tears came out of her eyes as she couldn't control her powers. The loud roar made her cry more. The field was watered and drowning while she stood getting drenched. Her heart sped up and she screamed out from the use of magic. She tried to stop it but she sobbed which made it hard to do anything.

Another loud scream and everything stopped. Her head ached and throbbed as she got light headed. She whimpered and touched her head sending a shock through which made everything worse. She whimpered and sobbed out, "Kol..." That's who she wanted, that's who made her do this, that's who she had loved deeply, and that's who she wanted a future with. Despite being only 17 she knew who and what she wanted but you can't always get what you want can you?

She started falling But before she hit the ground someone had rushed to catch her.

She was knocked out and very overheated despite the cold rain that had poured down on her. He wiped the rain and hair away from her face showing how fragile she was. Tears escaped her eyes and he picked her up carrying her back to his home.
