Your First Love and How To Go About It

At some point in your life, you're going to meet someone who makes your heart beat a million miles per hour but also stop at the same time. I guess that's why Demi Lovato calls it a 'Heart attack'. It's the first taste of love you'll get, aside from your parents. When you fall in love for the first time, you don't realize it until one moment when it hits you right in the face. I like to use this quote to describe it:

I am going through this myself, and it isn't easy because you don't know whether that's the man/woman God wants you with. You wonder whether you should let yourself love them or not because you don't want to waste the love God has destined for someone else on this person, if they're not {that} person. So, what do you do about it? I spoke to my mother the other day about this, and she told me that it isn't easy, but it's simple. 

1. You pray 

2. You keep your feelings in accordance to God's Word

3. And you wait

Now, when I heard this, I was like, "That's nice and all, but I can't do anything with that. I need to know now." 

My mother smiled at me and shook her head. 

"That's not how it works, Megs. God is in control, let Him write your love story." she replied.

I feel like that's the best thing my mother could've told me, because no matter how impatient we get, we have to remain patient and let God do His thing.

This can be hard, because you see that person at church, or at school, or at work, and the butterflies in your stomach are on steroids. Your feelings go out of control and you don't necessarily want to stop them. You like how you feel when you're around them. When this gets out of control, what I like to do is pray and ask God, 

"Father, please help me control my feelings and help me to remain calm. Give me guidance for this day. Thank you, Father. I love You, Amen." 

Such a simple prayer can really move mountains. God knows our thoughts even if we don't voice them, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't. There is power in our voice, so I always whisper it to myself when I know I am going to him. I have had people look at me as if I was crazy, I looked like I was whispering to myself, but I didn't care. I needed to talk to my Father and that wasn't going to stop me.

When you seek help, ask that of the Lord. He loves You and wants You to ask Him for help.

"Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I will not be put to shame."

- Isaiah 50:7
