Chapter Nineteen - Chiharu

A/N: I'm sorry for disappearing again. I kept putting off writing this chapter. It's been half written for months, I just want it to be perfect. Especially since this is near the end.

A lot has happened in the past months, I've been busy. I also got engaged at the end of 2016 too. That makes me sound old, I don't want to be old.

I've also got plans for a new story, it's going to be original. Would any of you consider reading it?

4th September 2011

"So how does Kira kill? I'm curious." Katsumi asks me. I shrug.

"I'm just as clueless as the rest of the world is. He told me it was for my protection, in case I'm tortured for information. If I reveal it, chances are I'll be killed instantly. He hopes that me not knowing would give him time to rescue me." I explain. "It will also be bad for him, should that information get out. I'd rather not know."

"Doesn't it bother you that you're living with someone who murders people?" Katsumi asks. My eyes widen and I shake my head.

"I hadn't really given it much thought... But he's our God. He's only killing those who are evil. I'd rather be with him than someone like Hajime." I say honestly. Katsumi's eyes narrow and he pinches the bridge of his nose.

"He's got you all brainwashed. He's a murderer, regardless of what sort of people he kills. He doesn't even check to see if they're guilty! My wife died because of him!" Katsumi rants. I look away.

We continue walking in silence.

2nd January 2011

I haven't seen Katsumi since that day. I can't help but feel like Katsumi is apart of something, and I feel conflicted as to whether I should inform Light of this. Chances are, he's part of the AKO and they're going to kill Light. But at the same time, if Light hears of my suspicions, then Katsumi would die.

I can't let Katsumi die.

It's not like I've seen Light much recently anyway. Last I heard is that someone is killing off his employees one by one. The main reason why I'm stuck inside. Light doesn't want to risk me dying too, especially since I've already been a target.

I rub my swollen belly and lean back on the sofa. Not long now. I'm due any day now.

I sit there for a few more minutes, before I finally grow tired of being stuck inside. I'll go for a walk. Nothing too bad can happen, right?

I slip my shoes on, my stomach being far too large for me to bend down to put my shoes on properly. When I leave the building, I notice a girl with black hair and grey eyes sitting on a bench nearby. Our eyes lock, and a scowl crosses her face.

A shiver sprints up my spine. I look behind me. The streets are empty, it's far too cold out for people to stroll around. Further up, walking directly towards me is a petite girl with brown hair and the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen. She saunters past me and up to the girl sitting down. She pulls out a bag and hands it to the girl. The black haired girl's face relaxes, and her lips turn up into a smile.

The smaller girl looks around at me, our eyes locking and I realise I'm being weird.

Suddenly, a sharp pain crosses my abdomen. I fall to my knees, clutching my swollen stomach.

Hands touch my shoulder. "Oh my God! Are you okay? Lia, call an ambulance!" The voice is soft, but I don't recognise it.

"Are you crazy? I aint helping Kira's whore." Another voice snaps. I'm in too much pain to feel offended by her words.

"Don't be mean! Kat would be grumpy if he heard you say that." The smaller voice retaliates. A hand strokes my hair comfortingly. "It's fine, ignore her. She's a little grumpy today. We'll get you help."

"Katsumi won't know. Fine, I'll call an ambulance. I'm only doing this because you want to help."

"Thanks, Lia."

"Oi, the ambulance is on it's way." The black haired girl snarls.

I look up at the girl who's sat in front of me. She smiles at me. "You'll be fine. Hey, you must know our friend Katsumi! He's your bodyguard. We're good friends with him!" She says enthusiastically. I smile weakly and nod. She continues to ramble about things, I zone out as the pain is too much for me to handle.

After several minutes, she leaps up. "The ambulance is here!" She helps me into the back of the vehicle. She quickly says goodbye before joining her friend on the pavement.

After several hours of being in excruciating pain, baby Kou is welcomed into the world. I hold her in my arms, stroking her cheek gently. Her dark eyes stare up at me. A smile spreads across my face. She's perfect.

Kou fits her perfectly. I know she'll bring me happiness, and I'm sure she'll bring happiness to others too.

13th January 2011

I wasn't sure what was happening until it was too late.

It didn't take me long to figure out. Once we started going down unfamiliar streets, it was very clear what was happening. This wasn't a trip to the shops as Katsumi promised. No. Not at all.

Far from it.

We've been kidnapped.

I catch Katsumi's gaze in the windshield mirror reflection. His eyes full of guilt, mine full of fear.

"I'm sorry I have to do this to you, Chiharu. I hope you can forgive me." He says firmly. His hands grip the steering wheel tighter.

I don't reply.

I can't reply. I'm frozen. Shock and fear taking over my body. My heart is beating rapidly. I look over at Kou protectively. She's fast asleep. I curl my hands into fists.

The AKO. It's all clear now.

Katsumi was using me this whole time.

I don't know what hurts more, being betrayed or being used. It hurts.

I was used to get to Kira.

Those two girls outside the building are probably with him too.

"They're all dropping like flies! Someone is doing it!" I remember Light screaming into his phone. His face was twisted and contorting with anger. At the time I had no idea what he was yelling about. His employees are all dead. Murdered, one by one.

"If you want to know how Kira kills, or anything about him, I can't tell you." I say firmly, but my voice still shook. I silently pray that Katsumi doesn't notice.

"That doesn't matter. We don't need that. We need you to do something else." Katsumi says. His voice is sharp. He meets my gaze once more, but I can't stand looking into his clear blue eyes so I look away quickly. I stretch my hand out to stroke Kou's face, silently begging that she gets out of this alive.

I'll die for her if I have to.

These people can't be cruel enough to murder a new-born child.

I glance out of the window, the outside a blur of brown.

Even if I jumped out of the car now, there's no way I'll find my way back to Tokyo.

We're in the middle of nowhere.

The car pulls up to an abandoned building, with cracked and peeling paint on the window frames, the surrounding bricks broken and cracked. Windows smashed, with cheap wood covering the holes. The roof was missing tiles, the rest that remained covered in moss and dirt. Some were even broken. The footpath is covered in weeds, overgrowing and almost obscuring it. It's clear that people have pushed their way through recently.

Katsumi leaves the car, walking over to my side and opening the door. "Step out please." He orders. I follow without a second thought. "Don't move. You run and I'll shoot you." He threatens. I nod. All blood running from my face, and my body is trembling with fear.

I watch as he walks to the other side, opens the door and pulls Kou out with her car seat. He walks over to me and passes her to me.

"Follow me inside. I'll still shoot you if you try to escape."

I follow him. There's nothing I can do but follow his orders.

Hopefully Kira can save me soon.

He should save me.

I clutch Kou's car seat tighter, bringing it closer to my body. Kou asleep, undisturbed. Thank God.

The building smells damp. Dust is everywhere. The walls are cracked and the rooms are dimly lit. The lights flickering.

I follow Katsumi through the hall, and through a doorway that led to a staircase. I follow him upstairs to a room. Compared to the rest of the building, it's clean. The wallpaper is peeling, and the window is boarded up, but it's a lot better compared to what I had seen previously.

In the corner of the room is a metal frame with a mattress on top. The sheets are clean.

"You'll be staying here." Katsumi says. "Before I go, I need you to call Hiro." He hands me my phone and a slip of paper. "This is the address. I want you to tell him to rescue you here and that you've been kidnapped by the AKO."

I nod, taking my phone and the piece of paper. I place Kou down on the bed, standing as close to her as possible. With shaking hands, I open my contacts and dial Hiro's number before hesitantly holding the device to my ear.

It rings several times before I hear Hiro's voice. "What is it, Chiharu? I'm busy at the moment so please make it quick." He says hurriedly. His voice is strained.

"Uh... I-I've been k-kidnapped." I choke out. Sobs causing my body to tremble and my voice to shake uncontrollably. I choke out the address, as the words leave my mouth the device is ripped from my grasp. Katsumi snaps the phone shut before shoving it into his pocket. His gaze is dark.

Tears roll down my cheeks and I cover my face.

The door shuts, and a lock clicks into place.

Katsumi doesn't return for several hours, the door swinging open and I tear my eyes away from the watch on my wrist.

He holds a gun up, pointing it directly at me.

I freeze.

The gun shakes slightly, I barely caught the slight movement. It was definitely there.

I look up from the gun. My eyes meeting Katsumi's.

Pain. His eyes are full of pain. His cheeks were stained slightly, as if he had been crying.

"You need to tell me Kira's name. His full name. Or I'll shoot." He demands. The gun moves again slightly. It's clear he's shaking.

The sleeves of his grey jumper are damp. Splodges of dark grey dotted around.

Has he been crying?

"Now. Tell me now." He demands. His voice is unsteady. His blue eyes are narrowed. His eyebrows furrowed.

"Light Yagami." I say quickly when I see his finger twitch against the trigger.

I squeeze my eyes shut.

There's a loud bang, a lock snapping into place.

I spend several minutes sitting there, too stunned to do anything. Kou's quiet cries rip me away from the fear taking over.

21st January 2011

I don't see Katsumi for several days.

Periodically throughout the day, I'm brought food and drink by the same girl that helped me before. Everything I need for Kou is brought too. She offers smiles, and a light conversation each time. But the glow in her eyes from before is absent. The smile falls from her face as she leaves the room each time. Every two hours the girl escorts me to the bathroom, and at the end of the day I'm allowed a shower and given fresh clothes to wear.

Considering I've been kidnapped, they're treating me very well.

That evening, Katsumi reappears. His face void of any emotion.

"We won. I killed Kira." He says coldly. He leans against the door, his arms folded across his chest. He stares at the opposite wall blankly. "I'll be taking you home tomorrow. You'll be given all of Kira's money, and I promise to keep you safe until the day you die."

He doesn't look at me, and leaves the room without another word.

A/N: There are two chapters left after this! I'm sad that this is already close to the end, I love Katsumi, Hana and Cecilia so much that I don't want to leave them.

I'm sorry if this is awful. I've tried my best to make this as good as possible.

I'll try to update as soon as possible. It will most likely be next Monday.

Next chapter is the 'final' chapter. Everything will be revealed. Then after that it will be the Epilogue.
