Chapter 3
It was Sunday October 8;
"Blare, I want you to train the newby. Blare, this is Dean, he's our new recruit. I want you to train him for the week." Megan, the manager of the movie place, told Blare motioning back and forth. Blare looked up from what she was checking. She stumbled to a stand. She looked at Dean and internally sighed. Dean sent her a smirk, he was standing behind Megan towering over her. Though, everyone towered over Megan; she was only four-foot-ten.
"Yes ma'am." Blare nodded, smiling her customer smile. Megan nodded.
"If you need any help, let me know." She waved and walked off.
"So I get a cutie as my trainer?" Dean hummed slyly.
"Save it." Blare waved dismissively. "I guess I'll teach you stock first, or customers, whichever comes first."
"Fine by me." Dean sent a flashy grin.
"First off, don't flirt with the customers; especially not ones that are clearly in a relationship." Blare warned. "That's how you get complaints and totally get fired." Blare crouched, motioning for Dean to follow. Dean followed. "Secondly, never get angry at a customer. That's how you get more complaints. Customers are always right... Unless it's the menu; always clarify the menu. Speaking of which, never ever ever change a customer's order. Never ever give anyone something they don't ask for and if they specifically say not to have something; do not give it to them." Blare said sternly as she moved items around. She pointed out what they were and what they were for.
"Excuse me?" A soft female voice called.
"Yes?" Blare asked, raising her head. "Ow!" She winced, hitting her head. She stood and rubbed the back of her hair. Dean held in laughter as he stood. "Hello, may I help you?" Blare asked, sweetly smiling.
"Are there free refills on the drinks?"
"Only on the soda, the Icees cost a dollar to refill." Blare explained, smiling.
"May I have a diet Pepsi then please?" The girl asked sweetly. Blare smiled and nodded, taking her drink. She refilled the drink and gave it back. "Thank you very much." She beaned.
"Have a nice night." Blare smiled and waved. She exhaled with relief when the customer left. She faced Dean. "Always appreciate the polite ones. A lot of them are jerks, of course we never say that to them." Blare nodded. Dean chuckled and nodded. Blare faced the customers. "We can help someone here." She waved. A group approached. Oh geez. "Hello, how may I help you?" She smiled.
"Hi, I want three Pepsis, two Cherry Icees, and a water." The man with the group informed. Blare quickly tapped on the computer to put in the order.
"Will there be anything else with that?" She asked sweetly.
"Two packs of peanuts, a large popcorn with butter, and- kids what do you want?"
"Dippin' Dots." One of the kids decided.
"And a pack of Gummy Bears." Another announced. Blare rushdly typed to keep up.
"What flavors of Dippin' Dots would you like? We have-"
"Just the banana for all of 'em."
"I'm allergic to bananas..." One of the shyer kids mumbled. "I wanted birthday cake..."
"So, one birthday cake and five bananas?" Blare asked for confirmation. The group nodded. "Alright, I'll get that for you right now. What sizes for the Dippin' Dots?"
"All large." The adult announced. Blare smiled and nodded. Dean followed her around and helped her get everything. They were getting yelled at by the kids, but were working as fast as they could.
"Your total is 50.65." Blare informed. She was handed cash and change. Oh God, here comes more yelling. She held the fifty dollars to the light while quietly explaining to Dean what they were looking for. She was getting yelled at by the adult. She stowed the money away, deciding it wasn't counter fit. "Thank you very much, have a nice evening." She waved and smiled. She sighed with relief when most of the movies started and there weren't many people out. "Got the basic idea?" She asked Dean.
"I think so." He nodded.
"Good, because I'm going to let you take care of our next customer." She smirked. Dean smirked back, deciding it wasn't a hardship.
"Cool." He nodded.
"Here you go." Blare motioned and stepped out of the way. Dean stepped up to the plate.
"We can help you here." Dean smiled and waved the on coming customers. Two teenage females from their school approached. "Hello, may I help you?" He asked in a slightly sly tone. They giggled.
"Hey, Dean~" one of them hummed. It was the blonde one, the head cheerleader; Dalyla. The brunette, her best friend Minnie giggled.
"Hello." He leaned on the counter, smirking. Blare internally sighed. "How may I help you?" He hummed cockily.
"How about you ditch the job and come watch a movie~?" Dalyla asked slyly. Dean chuckled.
"My apologies, but I do have to work. I can take your order?" He offered.
"I guess that'll work. Maybe some other time?" Minnie giggled.
"Definitely." Dean nodded, straightening his stance. "What can I get you?"
"Two Watermelon Arizona Teas and two Birthday Dippin' Dots." Dalyla decided.
"Oh and a small salted popcorn, no butter." Minnie decided. Dean was awkwardly tapping and struggling. Blare was pointing and helping. Dean managed to succeed and then got their order. He exchanged for cash and that was that.
"Nice job." Blare approved.
"Blare, Theater 6 clean up, then family bathroom." Megan called.
"Gotcha!" Blare agreed. "Follow me." She waved Dean after her. Dean smirked and followed. He bit his lip, watching her as she cleaned. "You're surprised to be helping." Blare glared at Dean.
"Just enjoying the view." Dean shrugged, going back to sweeping. Blare scoffed and rolled her eyes. Dean smirked and worked. "People leave behind some weird stuff." Dean pointed out, poking a weird wrapper. His nose scrunched. He carefully tossed it.
"Trust me, it's horrible. I've found panties before." Blare shivered at the thought.
"Dude hot." Dean grinned.
"God, you're disgusting." Blare sighed heavily. Dean chuckled. The cleaning was long and drawn out, but faster with two people. They were cleaning the family bathroom which was very fast. They then cleaned the hallways and the main entrance, behind the counter too. They went through a theater, checking it out and then left.
"Well, my shift is over." Blare stretched, popping her back. She sighed with relief. Dean winced with the sound. "Recommendation: get your work schedule around your school schedule, especially after school activities." Blare told Dean. Dean nodded in agreement.
"My shift is over too." Dean decided, following Blare. They checked out, Blare waved to Megan as she left. Megan waved, smiling.
"Later, Dean." Blare waved, walking off.
"You sure you don't want a ride?" Dean called, smirking amusedly. He had actually ridden his motorcycle.
"In your dreams." Blare scoffed. Dean smirked. Only sometimes. He walked off to his bike.
Blare was walking home. Dean road passed her, waving in a cocky manner. Blare rolled her eyes and tapped on her phone. She shyly blushed and bit her lip. Her head shook, forcing away her thoughts. Definitely not. She sighed heavily.
