Chapter 1

It was Wednesday October 4;

Blare sighed and rubbed her neck. She was tired from all the running she had done the day before and the morning. Her legs ached. "Hey guys!" She greeted with a wave. She grinned to her friends, Annie-her nickname was Ann, Mannie- Man, and Brad-Brass (he got that nickname from a Halloween costume he wore once). It was lunch time and Blare was sitting with her friends, as always.

"Hey, it's B!" Brass motioned with a grin. He always called her that and she didn't know why.

"Hey Blare, how's it goin?" Ann asked sweetly.

"Pretty good, I'm kinda tired, though." She admitted. After soccer practice she had been working on an art project all night. "How about you dudes?" She grinned amusedly.

"Pretty good. How was practice?" Mannie asked sweetly.

"Same ol', same ol'." Blare shrugged. Her friends snickered.

"Hey, yo Sis!" Zeek ran over. Blare looked up at him, a slightly annoyed look on her face. She was still annoyed with him for ruining her art project nights ago. He was the reason she had to stay up. "Do you have like- five dollars?" Zeek asked, smiling as cutely as he could. His shoulders scrunched as he gave a huge grin and held his eyes closed peacefully. He looked quite funny.

"Why do you need that?" Blare asked in an amused tone. She leaned on her right hand, smirking slyly at her twin. If he wanted her cash; he'd have to work for it.

"My ASB. Five of the dollars Dad gave me disappeared and so, I need five dollars. I promise I'll pay you back!" Zeek clapped his hands as he begged.

"What's in it for me?" Blare smirked.

"I'll do you chores for a week-"

"Keep it comin'." Blare waved his hand.

"Two weeks!" Zeek held up two fingers. "And I'll pay you back and you get the satisfaction of knowing you helped your older, wiser brother." He nodded, resting a hand on his chest.

"I wouldn't say 'wiser.'" Brass hummed slyly.

"Ah, Brad, you're supposed to help me!" Zeek whined. He was laughed at. "C'mon, please sis? You know I need it to do soccer!"

"Yeah, yeah. Here." Blare handed her brother a five dollar bill.

"You're the best! Thanks sis!" Zeek called as he ran off. Blare's eyes rolled. She snickered with amusement.

"Your brother is so cute..." Ann mumbled distantly. Blare made a ganging noise, snapping Ann out of her daze and causing her red cheeks to darken. She pouted. Blare snickered and messed up her hair affectionately.

"Like him if you want." She smiled amusedly. Ann smiled shyly and looked away. Blare looked away lazily. "I'm tired." She yawned.

"Obviously." Brass laughed.

"Hey, Blare, wanna come eat with us?" Jen, one of the more snide soccer girls asked slyly. Blare looked up culelessly. "Instead of hanging out with these losers."

"'Kay, first no one but me gets to call them 'losers.' Secondly, no thanks. I'm good here." Blare looked away, trying to hide the frustration.

"Suit yourself- oooo... There's Zeek, are you sure~?" Jen winked at Blare. Blare's nose scrunched.

"He's my twin." Blare hissed. Jen's face paled.

"Oh..." She whimpered. She slowly walked away.

"Well, that was completely disturbing." Brass commented.

"Yeah..." Blare's voice trailed off wearily. She looked away from the quick moving girl to her friends. "It happens." She shrugged. She went back to eating.

They ended up outside after eating, with Blare's soccer ball. She carefully bounced the ball on her feet as she talked to her friends. She had been practicing this trick and was trying to show off. She watched the ball but listened to her friends and kept on a conversation with ease.

"A side kick outta no where!" Zeek cheered, kicking Blare's ball away.

"Hey!" Blare glared at him. Dean smirked. He caught the ball with his feet and was kicking it the same way Blare was.

"Come an get it~" he teased in a low, sly tone. Blare's eyes rolled. Dean Dale, the biggest jerk in school and my brother's best friend. Dean was wearing a lose soccer jersey, under was a tight fitting black shirt. He was wearing black running shoes, knee-high black socks and gray jean-shorts. It was only Fall, but he always wore shorts. His flat-billed hat was faced backwards, hiding the Super Man logo. His tiny ring earring was kind of a tease. "Do you want it~?" He hummed slyly.

"Now that you touched it?" Blare scoffed. She couldn't believe she had ever been friends with him, in Elementary he was the sweetest kid in the world- sure he teased her, but that was because they were friends- now, though, Dean was a jerk. He mocked almost everyone, he never used his manners, he dressed like 'a bad ass' (or his version of one), and he actually shoved people. Blare couldn't believe Zeek still hung out with him. "I'd rather a hippo ate it then shit it out and me have to get it back than take it after you touched it." She angrily growled. Dean chuckled.

"Suit yourself." He passed the ball to Zeek. Dean was a skilled soccer player, no doubt about it, but his attitude was completely off setting. He date at random constantly, he showed up late always, he left trash wherever he wanted. He was basically his own version of "cool." Blare resented him.

Blare's arms crossed. She rolled her eyes. Dean watched her hips sway as she leaned to the side in an annoyed pose, the same one she had had since they were kids. Blare seemed unimpressed. Dean stared at her gentle gray-fading blue eyes as he kicked the ball in the air. Zeek cheered him on. His gaze trailed to her short brown-ish red-ish hair. She had the same cut as Zeek's blonde hair.

Dean averted his eyes to watch the ball as he passed to Zeek. Zeek took the ball and teasingly kicked it in the air. Instead of watching, Dean went back to staring at Blare. Her tinted peach skin complimented her soft pink lips. Dean avoided looking at her face. He focused on what she was wearing.

Blare's clothes were her normal outfit; a black slouch beanie, a gray hoodie, tight fitting gray and black jeans, black combat boots, and presumably a tank top under. She was wearing her favorite pair of earrings, ones she got from Dean when they were younger; little dogs that hung off her ear.

"Dean, catch!" Zeek cheered. Dean's attention diverted. He caught the on-coming ball... with his face. "Oh shoot!" Zeek ran over. He looked down at Dean, he seemed dazed. Zeek laughed. Blare snatched her ball.

"Thank you very much." She hissed.

"I thought you said you'd rather touch hippo shit?" Dean teased, regaining his composure. Blared kicked him and stormed off with her friends. Dean chuckled and stood.

"Rude, Blare! Real rude!" Zeek yelled.

"Eh, who cares?" Dean laughed. "Not me." He smirked. "Let's go pick up some ladies~" he noticed a near by pack of girls and walked off. Zeek's eyes rolled as he followed.

"He's so annoying!" Blare hissed. She was complaining about Dean for the sixth time in two days. Mannie and Brass exchanged a look. Ann was trying to calm her down. Blare sighed heavily, forcing herself to calm.

"You totally like him." Brass pointed out.

"I do not!" Blare yelled, her face turning red.

"Say that to your red face." Mannie smirked. He ran off when she started chasing him. Mannie was laughing and trying not to get murdered. "Blare likes Dean! Blare likes Dean!" He chanted like a child. Blare sighed frustratedly and pinched the bridge of her nose as she slowed to a stop. It's fine, it's fine. It's not worth it. "Blare loves Dean!"

"I do not!" She yelled at him. She tackled Mannie down. They wrestled around, both ending up laughing.

Dean and Zeek exchanged a look. They, and a huge group of people had been watching the thing. Dean was forcing his nervous feelings back, ignoring them as usual. He smirked slyly, though, to keep his cocky composure.

"Alright you two, break it up." Brass instructed. "Come on, before a teacher comes over here." Blare freed Mannie from his head lock and Mannie let go of Blare's hair. Blare and Mannie both repositioned, Mannie rolling off his back. They sat, folding their hands in their laps. They stared up at Brass childishly. He chuckled and passed Blare her hat. She fixed her hair the best she could and put back on her hat.

"Blare is totally into Dean." Mannie squeaked, grinning.

"I am not!" Blare yelled, she was getting extremely annoyed at this point. The bell rang. Blare sighed, standing. She caught her ball, which Ann had tossed. "Later." She waved to her friends after snatching up her stuff. They waved casually in response. Blare sighed and walked off towards gym.

Blare tensed with the new presence right behind her when she was opening her locker to grab her gym clothes. She was being pressed against. "So you like me~?" Dean asked slyly, leaning over her shoulder. His hands rested at her waist.

"In your dreams." Blare hissed. She raised her foot, hitting him where it counts. Dean whimpered and slowly sank, covering the spot.

"Not cool." He whimpered. Blare's eyes rolled.

"Neither is being a pervert." She closed her locker and walked off, leaving Dean to suffer.

"Ahh, I hate the volleyball unit." Blare whined to Zeek.

"So do I, I don't see why we have to do it." He mumbled.

"Especially with these stupid uniforms. Why do the girls have to wear tight clothes while the guys get to wear the normal uniform? I swear the teachers here are all perverts." Blare complained.

"Wouldn't doubt it." Zeek laughed. He tossed the ball in the air as they were supposed to.

"You know, I like it." Dean smirked, tossing his ball around. "I getta see all the fine butts." He grinned at the thought. "Ow!" He glared at Zeek, who had just kicked him. Zeek rolled his eyes.

"Sometimes I'm worried that we're friends." Zeek sighed dramatically. Dean chuckled amusedly.

"You love me and you know it." He decided. Zeek rolled his eyes, but laughed.

"I guess so." He agreed. Dean laughed. Blare's eyes rolled. She continued to smack the ball back and forth with some kid from her class. Dean snuck a few glances at her and every other girl in the room. He was being a brat.

"Hey, sleepover this weekend, right?" Ann asked, running over before she had to sprint to her bus. Blare nodded. "Awesome, later!" Ann yelled, running off. Blare chuckled and ran off to her bus.

Blare hid herself in the back seat. Of course, her brother and Dean were crushing her because they literally wouldn't leave her alone. End my suffering. She silently begged. She glanced at Zeek and Dean, who were shoving one another and some other kid. She looked back out the window and heavily sighed. This sucks. She read through a book on her phone boredly. She hated being crushed, especially touched. She hated the fact Dean was coming over again. She huffed sharply.
