Chapter 2

You're a horse?

Narissa looked confused as she looked at the half horse man. She thought that was just a crazy part of her dream/ a hallucination due to lack of sleep and food but sure enough there he was.

"Good to see you are awake." Chiron greeted her with a soft smile crossing his face. As he took a step forward she took one back. "You're a horse..." She trailed as her eyes flickered over him.

She noted the brief flash of annoyance at that before it melted away back to the kind look. "I am a centaur." He corrected her.

"Like from stories? That's impossible." She scoffed a laugh. "Unfortunately it is possible, all of it is. You, hay for breath and this camp." The man she saw the previous day said, now sporting a hideous Hawaiian shirt. "Me? What the hell have I done to you?" She asked with narrowed eyes.

"You were born. You and all the other useless half-bloods here." He replied back which only angered her further. "I don't see you being of any use!" She took a step towards him as she glared. "Who even are you?" Narissa scoffed as she looked at him.

"Dionysus here is the camp director." Chiron said as the two kept glaring towards each other. "Dionysus? Like the Greek God of wine?" She now looked towards the centaur with a doubtful expression on her face.

When she saw the small nod of his head a smirk crossed her face. "So a alcoholic is calling the kids here useless? That's interesting." She didn't even bat a eye with him being a god cause frankly she didn't care.

"What is your name child?" Chiron asked with a small sigh, trying to keep the two from arguing further. "Narissa Avalon." She informed as she crossed her arms, her eyes leaving Mr. Alcoholic and turned towards My Little Pony.

"Would you take a walk with me Narissa?" Chiron asked, the young girl shrugging slightly as she nodded. "Sure."

The two walked outside, along the lake as he explained everything to her. That the Greek Gods and goddesses were real, that they had kids called demigods and this was the camp where they trained and were safe from the monsters that lurked beyond the barrier. Narissa was mostly silent during the walk as she tried to take all of this in, her eyes focused on the ground as she chewed on her lip deep in thought.

"So.." she started as she kept her eyes casted downwards, she was afraid to ask but she needed to know. "Who's my father?" Narissa finally said aloud as she turned her eyes up towards the man.

The soft pitying, sympathetic look that flashed over his eyes didn't go unnoticed by her. "I'm afraid I do not know. Your godly parent hasn't claimed you yet." He sighed softly as he really did feel bad he couldn't provide her that answer or even reassure her that one day she would know the answer, because he knew that she might never learn that truth.

She frowned as she worked on getting the rock out of the dirt with the tip of her shoe. Narissa couldn't believe she was learning all of this and still wasn't wanted by the Greek god. "You will be staying in Hermes cabin until you are claimed. Cabin 11 with Luke." Chiron continued to explain as he picked up a walk again, trusting the girl to follow after which she luckily did.

Narissa didn't understand why this was happening to her, maybe this is why she had to leave home in the first place. Maybe being a demigod had something to do with how her mom and stepdad treated her.

~♠~♠~♠~

After their walk Narissa was sitting by the edge of the lake, her knees pulled up to her chest as she worked on figuring out what was going on here. Was she just going to believe what they said about Greek gods and goddesses being real? She didn't want to but after seeing a centaur and a satyr who was she to deny the existence.

"What are you think about?" A voice asked as the blonde boy sat beside her. She cut her eyes over to Luke. "Everything I guess." She said with a small shrug, her whole life was a lie it seemed,so much was hidden from her and she didn't even know why.

The chuckle that came from beside her was shocking, she didn't expect him to laugh when she met him earlier he didn't seem the laughing type. "Everything is a lot to think about." He remarked as he leaned back in the grass, his eyes flickering towards her.

"This is all a lot." She gestured dramatically around her as she stood up, hear Grover calling to the two of them. Luke sighed a bit as he stood up as well. Both looking towards the approaching boy. "Hey." He said with a smile crossing his face. "Hi Grover." Narissa greeted with a hint of a smile.

"I was sent to see if you two wanted to train." He smiled at them. Luke nodding some, he was very good with a sword and would use it any chance he got rather then some other things that could be happening.

"Train? Train for what?" Narissa asked as she trailed after the two of the boys who started walking to a arena type area. "In case we have to go on a quest and fight monsters." Luke told her as he glanced over his shoulder.

Narissa scoffed a laugh as she shook her head. "Yeah right." That was so far-fetched even with what she has learned over the span of twenty-four hours, maybe she would believe in monsters if she was six.

"Hes telling the truth....ever demigod wants to go on a quest. It is a chance of proving themselves to the gods. But the quests can be dangerous, you would have to fight monsters and go great lengths." Grover explained as he fell back into pace with her.

Narissa looked towards him, her dark eyes searching for any sign that he was joking. "Seriously?" Grover nods his head at that. "hmm" Narissa hummed as she looked forward again.

Narissa was amazed as she looked at the arena, dummies to fight, racks upon racks of weapons and even a archery field. It looked amazing.

"Ok I think I can get used to this." The young girl grinned.
