Angels had what they would call Grace. Grace is their heavenly power, basically their soul. And they had to have actual bodies to be able to do things on Earth. Those bodies were called vessels.

Every angel has, or had, a vessel.

Gabriel, Castiel, Lucifer, Michael, even God.

Yes, even God had a vessel. He actually ran away to hide on Earth. Yep, God, the one and only, ran away from Heaven.

So, on Earth, he sat there, wasting away. He did do something. He would write books, that made things actually happen. Well, he's God. He could do that.

But he actually called Himself a profit, instead of just saying that He was God. He would tell everyone that His name is Chuck Shurley and He created the Supernatural books.

I'll explain what a profit is in the next chapter.

But God just up and left Heaven. And that's when angels tried to be God. Tried to make everything okay... but it didn't work.

Metatron, God's Scribe, tried.

Castiel tried.

Lucifer tried.

But they all ended badly. People died. Good people.

But things happen. And since God was gone, no one was there to stop it. Oh, except for the Winchesters.
