Hanuman Chalisa, a very famous Hindu prayer to show devotion towards Lord Hanuman was written by Goswami Tulsidas, in the 15th century. This prayer consists a total of 42 verses.

In the 18th verse it is written that: 'yug sahasra yojan par bhanu, lilyo tahi madhur phal jaanu'.

It means that, though the sun is (1 yug = 1,2000 years; 1 sahasra = 1,000 mile; 1 yojan = 8 mile) 12,000 * 1,000 * 8 = 96,000,000 mile away from the earth, you thought it to be a fruit and ate it!

According to present day scientists the average distance between earth ans sun is 92,9555,807 mile, which is approximately similar and close to that calculated by Tulsidas.

In 1653, Christian Huygens became the first person to measure the distance between sun and earth through the transit of venus, and he is officially regarded as the first person to measure the distance between Sun and earth accurately.

Before him, around the time of 600 BCE, a Greek philosopher named Aristarchus, also attempted to measure the distance between sun and earth using different phases of moon and then with the help of Pythagoras theorem.

So, we can see that all the attempts made to measure the distance between sun and earth has been done on the basis of some theory or formula. But, Tulsidas guessed it almost correct, with the help of nothing.

However, we should stop looking for scientific evidences in old holy books. Otherwise everything will be like, everything scientific was once found in India or everything that is science has already been invented by Muslims.

This is where the difference lies. We should keep this, authorship of evidence in one side and focus on what is more important.

Many say that, IVF technique has already been mentioned in Vedas and computer algorithms were also mentioned in the Quran. Well, it's true, but this doesn't mean that we should forget the ones who have made these scientific techniques accessible to us.
