Chapter 15
"It warms my heart that so many of you showed up tonight," He paused, looking around the room. "I'm not going to stand here and talk about my beloved." He waited for the confused glances of his friends, then took a slow breath.
"In stead we are all going to have a few drinks and go around the room telling stories of Zeta."
There were several nods off approval Daniel started off by telling the tale of how they met. Witches, warlocks and the other visitors began having beer, wine and enchanted ale. Then one by one the others began telling stories of Zeta. It was an interesting and different kind of wake. It seemed to go over well with all of them.
The another one stood. "I'm Ravenessa and I met Zeta though the warlock brethren. We had an instant friendship, being the best of friends ever since that day. I'll never forget her." She then sat back down so the next person could tell thier story.
The empress stood up and introduced herself. "I also met her through the brethren. She was a wonderful gentle soul, taken from us far too soon." She then sat down and let the next one go.
A tall warlock stood up from the back of the room. He brushed his golden brown hair away from his face; revealig a gorgeous pair of bright turquoise eyes.
"I'm Reddrick. Zeta was my childhood friend." He paused for a second. "She was a great person. I remember when we were children she tried to levitate me, but it went wrong... She dropped me on my tailbone. She felt so bad that she carried me 7 miles to the nearest voodoo healer."
Then he sat back down. The empress nodded to him, enjoying the story he had told.
She looked over to see Daniel having another beer and another. She knew he'd be good and crocked by the end of the wake, but he probably needed it. She just sat back having a glass of spirit wine and listed as people told the stories of zeta's life. After a couple of hours everyone had said one thing or another, and it felt like a part of her still lingered here with them.
By the time everyone went home from the wake Daniel was drunk but not done for the night. Ralvania sat with him, having more wine with him.
"Would you like to know why I'm getting this smashed?"
"If you want to tell me," She replied softly.
"One night of dreamless sleep. No dreams of her, no more nightmares."
"I don' blame you in the least bit." She replied to him.
"You're the best you know that?"
She nodded, having a long conversation, letting him get lit and vent out some of his soul stabbing pain and loss.
