Chapter 2

  Chapter 2

Making it back to the comfort of home, letting out a long sigh. Glad to have rescued the banshee, but concerned there may be something to watch out for in her homeland. Dismissing it as paranoia, for now. Shrugging it off, as she'd dealt with dark forces from time to time. It had been a few months since there had been any real danger. Walking across the soft grasses until reaching the back entrance to the castle. Nodding hello to some of the kitchen staff as she'd passed by them. Then Gina came around the corner.

"Is everything okay miss?"

"Yes, someone was in trouble deep in the forest, but it's taken care of."

"Oh good to hear, would you like anything miss?"

"Just a cup of pixie brew, but I'll get it."

Gina nodded to her, then went back to dusting the castle, again, as the Empress went into the kitchen to grab the pot and a few mugs from the large kitchen. Then making her way down the hall and straight for her favorite chair. Opening the door, she loved this office, more of a small library. Not huge, but not too cozy. Setting the pot and mugs down, grabbed a few spare candles and spell book; then poured a cup and got to work. After the first cup, wanted to document the experience with the banshee, it wasn't everyday you came across one by noon. Then rewrote the spell she used to release her from the spirit trap. There had been a few interesting adventures over the years, but this would have to be in a list of the top five. Lost down a pathway of thought, she jumped fifteen minutes later when there was a knock at the door.

Rolling her eyes for just a moment before calling out; "Come in"

Slowly the door handle turned and Amberosia stepped inside, holding an envelope of parchment.

"Hello there," Ralvania greeted the servant.

"Yes miss, so sorry to intrude," She stammered, nervous.

"What is it dear?"

"A letter just arrived by messenger, I didn't know if it might be important.'

"Thank you, you may go now.'

The girl bowed then quickly left the room.

Taking a sip of the brew, staring at the envelope on the desk. Most of the time, messengers weren't sent for good news. It wasn't always bad news, just more often than not something was wrong somewhere. Checking the back of the envelope, saw the symbol of Nucandu territory. Quickly opening it, wondering what the brethren had needed. Reading over it more than once, she'd been surprised.

Empress;

We would like you come visit, Drinks at Smitty's whenever you are available,

Brother Jim

Debating on it for a few minutes before grabbing a sheet of parchment and the raven feather pen, scribbling out a response, then she summoned for a messenger of her own.
