Chapter 15
Chapter Fifteen
Bolting through the skies for the next twenty five minutes, getting much further than even he expected. He landed about an hour and a half after nightfall. Once his travel companions climbed down, he said nothing; curling into a huge black ball. It had taken all of two minutes before he was in a deep sleep.
"Well, he's out."
"He flew us much further than I thought... We may get there sooner than I estimated."
"Oh wonderful," She replied.
"I'm glad we made it this far without much trouble," The gremlin mentioned.
"Perhaps our good luck will continue."
"Only with hope."
She had to agree, then surveyed the landscape. He'd landed them near a field of moonlit blue daisies. It was quite captivating. Almost surreal, beyond the flower patch, lay three small white mountains. Curious, grabbing the map and tilting it to an angle in the bright moonlight. It read Kindlin Mountains. She wasn't sure about dangers here, using her ability, scanned it for dangerous or negative energies. The only thing she picked up was coming from past the mountains. She let the gremlin and dragon sleep and kept watch. Even a slight danger can quickly turn into a threat. She wouldn't risk it.
Ralvania stayed awake with the dark night skies and her thoughts. It was peaceful and relaxing, even though she wondered how the journey would turn out. Able to read souls, yet visions of the future were often misguided and foggy. She didn't trust them completely. Over the next several hours she metitated, kept a lookout for any problems and listened to the calming sound of nocturnal creatures in the land. Exhaustion had finally claimed her, just before the rising of the light over the skyline.
Two and a half hours later Vamier woke from a restful sleep. Turning to one side, finding the empress still involved in a deep restful sleep. He could hardly believe it, she was usually awake first. He didn't disturb her, just sat and waited for the rise of the dragon, an hour later.
He stretched and batted his eyes awake, then turned and looked at the gremlin.
"Mornin"
"Oh good morning," Vamier returned the pleasantries.
Soranto looked past the gremlin, glancing at the empress, still sleeping. "She's not up? That's strange."
"She was up all night keeping watch."
"Oh she didn't need to do that."
"I didn't argue, I was too tired."
"Did you sleep well?"
"Surprisingly, yes better than I have in months," The gremlin replied.
"Oh good."
"Infact, I didn't have a nightmare, not a single one.'
"That's because of me," Spoke an unknown voice from behind them.
"Hello there," Soranto stated.
"Hi, what do you mean because of you?" Vamier asked.
"I'm a nightmare elf, I don't cause them. I take them away from others."
"Why?'
"To our kind, it's like food."
"What will happen to me?"
"Less nightmares, that's it."
Vamier walked up to the elf, hugging her tightly.
"Thank you."
The elf hybrid nodded, then scurried back into the forest.
"How truly strange." Soranto commented.
