Chapter 20
Taking a sip of the brew, then another. "Oh much better," She said to the empty room. Then she opened the drawer to free one of her candles. Setting in the center of her desk, then with deep focus, illuminated it with her thoughts. Then she retrieved her spell-book and glitter feather quill.
She needed to add a little about Ravenessa. She kept a record of every ailment she'd ever dealt with. There was always a chance the same ailment might effect others. There had been a few occasions like this one. There hadn't been a disaster lately, and she wanted it to stay that way. It had been nice, not having a life or death emergency to have to fix. She liked to help others, it had been her calling, in this life, that is.
Since she'd become an immortal being a few moons ago, she looked at things a different way. She loved the life she had, but eventually it would be a bit of a curse. Some of her enchanted family were immortal, but some were definitely not. She quickly got up and moved the thought away. She didn't want to start that web of thinking, it would only bring an endless sadness. After the first cup she poured another. Closing her eyes, deeply rooted in focus, she began to lose herself in a meditative state. As she began going deeper into a vision, the knock on her door jolted her back to the here and now.
After a few moments, she answered, "Enter."
Softly the door opened and Sage walked in.
"What is it?"
"A visitor." He said.
"Oh, who is it?" She asked.
"It's Trinity." He replied.
"Oh, send her in." She replied.
"Yes, miss. Right away."
She sat there and waited the few minutes until the hob-goblin returned with the newest witch of Goblin's Hollow
"Come in, have a seat, please." She greeted the witch.
"Yes thank you." She replied, sitting across from the empress.
"Is everything going okay?"
"Yes, I just wanted to visit. Where have you been?"
"I had to help someone for a few days."
"I missed you. I look forward to our talks." She said.
"Have you made other friends since the move here?" She asked the young witch.
"No."
"Have you tried to?" She asked.
"No, I haven't."
"Why not?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"I have you and Sage.'
"Don't you want more friends?' The empress asked her.
"No."
"What? Why not?"
Trinity took a deep breath, hesitated a few minutes, then answered her. "When I moved to this realm, I took a leap of faith and the friend I lived with dropkicked me, now I'm starting over here." Trinity explained.
"That makes sense. A lot of sense. Coffee?"
"Yes I'd like that."
The empress nodded and filled a mug for her. "Here you go."
Trinity thanked her and nodded, then took a deep sip from the mug.
