Chapter 9
The next six weeks seemed to escape the empress. Having a flow of clients in spurts, she and the sorceress worked together to take care of the gnome-trolls, goblin imps and dwarves. The empress stayed swamped through the next week, hoping things might slow down a bit. As the eventful day stretched into the night and the last little gremlin had been helped, she and the sorceress breathed a sigh of relief.
"Amberosia, grab some coffee, we'll go to my office and relax."
"Sure, that sounds great." The sorceress replied.
Ralvania walked on turning a corner down the hall to her precious spiritual room. Walking across the room to her shelf behind the desk, she grabbed a few of her books, set them down. Then literally dropped her body into the chair. Five minutes passed by when she heard Amberosia open the door.
"Oh you have no idea how much i appreciate the coffee after today." Ralvania told her.
"No problem, coffee sounded good to me too." She replied, pouring two cups and handing the first one to the empress.
Amberosia settled in her preferred spot directly across from her mentor and friend. Both sipped at the coffee slowly for a moment, enjoying it after a full day of clients.
"Did you see the really strange moons out tonight?" Amberosia asked, making conversation over pixie brew.
"No, but now I'm curious, I'll go look." The empress told her, standing up and walking over to the window to get a better view.
She stared at the moons for a long moment, sipping her coffee down, then turned and walked back to her chair in silence.
"I see what you mean." Stated the Empress flatly.
"What moon is it?" She asked onthe edge of her seat, leaning across the boss's desk.
"A very special one, happens three times in a year, but only once every hundred years. It's quite rare." Ralvania explained with a dead glare of seriousness.
Amberosia took a sip of the warm drink, then looked at her mentor.
"What is it called?"
"The Divine Goddess Moon. It brings a highly potent magical influence." She explained.
"It looks so majestic." Amerosia replied, looking through the window.
A glitter silver moon with neon black lightning bolts cascading down it. She had never seen anything like it in her life.
"Yes it is."
The two of them sat there having more coffee and settling in for the night when there was a fierce pounding upon her castle doors.
"I'll get it miss." The new sorceress offered and leaped up on her feet, darting for the door.
"Thanks." Ralvania called out, then gulped down a half a cup.
