Over the next few months the two took shifts watching over the forest, discretely. This time it was Amberosia's turn to keep watch. She took a large thermos of coffee with her, heading through the courtyard and up the mountain, to the caves. She wanted to peek in on her famillar. 

     Reaching the mouth of the cave, she tapped on one side of the cave with a large stick.

"Who is it?" He yelled from inside the cave. 

"Amberosia." She said loud and clear.

"Oh, I'll be out in just a second." He replied, she poured a cup from the thermos and waited for him to come out. 

A few minutes later there he stood just outside the entrance to the cave.

"Oh, Hi there." She greeted him.

"Hello. Sit, please." He responded.

"How are you?" She asked, taking a sip. 

"I'm well, you?" He replied.

"Just keeping an eye out with the newer creatures of the forest. Have you heard anything?" She asked pouring a cup for him. 

He took a deep breath and leaned in closer to her.

"The hybrid manipulation demon hasn't been spotted in over a fortnight. The rest of them haven't done anything." He explained to her. 

" Thanks." 

"No problem, you gave me a home, I owe you a lot." Ludwig replied.

"I'm glad we adopted you into our family." She told him, giving a long hug.  She sat with him for the next cup until it was late enough and bid him farewell before disapearing back down the mountain.
