Chapter 2

The empress walked back to the castle, saying hello to a few servants as she passed by them, on her way to her favorite room. She stepped inside and quietly closed the door. Grabbing a few needed items, the empress slumped down in her favorite chair in front of her huge desk. She rang for coffee, the wait time was a little longer than normal. She thanked Gina who had brought it for her; then quickly shewed away the servant girl.

It didn't take the girl long before a smile and quick nod, then exited swiftly, to let the lady of the castle relax.

Ralvania in silent prayer thanked the mother goddess for that much. Whenever she got going with her magical preparations; she hated to be interrupted. it knocked her off balance; then she'd have to do a bit of meditative work to get where she needed to be. It didn't always bother her but at times it was sheer maddening to her essance.

Checking her calendar, the empress saw why she felt more of a magical surge than normal. The three moons were going to be full at once; a triple moon. That meant the spells or any magic performed during this phase were three times as powerful, a great night for spell casting. She'd talk to Amberosia in a day or two. The thought of an apprentice- sorceress wasn't a bad idea, she thought, sipping at her second cup of the hot liquid energy.

The only real issue was training a person from the beginning. As far as she knew that girl didn't have magic within her, it made training that much more difficult of a task. She had trained the new fairy queen; but Lily already had magic to begin with and only needed a refresher course in fae magic.  She'd done well even from the first day. There had been a few issues in the fairy kingdom in the past but her last report from the queen, things were good in the kingdom. Ralvania was happy for her god-daughter. Lily had come a long way in the past year and a half.

She sipped slowly and went over her current spell-book, the third one this moon-phase. She'd gotten a few more clients than normal in the past few days. Nothing major, creatures needing help with luck, health issues and a few protection spells for paranoid gargoyles. The only unusual visitor had been a young unicorn; no older than two with a cracked horn, bleeding glitter all down his tear stained face. She quickly whipped up an ointment and potion. Then an "ease the pain" spell for the poor thing. She bandaged him up and sent him home to his mother.
