Ep. 19 ~ Boys Vs. Girls, Independence

{Akina's P.O.V.}

That dark chakra isn't as threatening as I thought it would be. It seems to leave the host whenever somebody comes back to their senses. How strange... "Interesting, is it not?" Kurama speaks to me.

"It is. We should keep an eye on that. I'll scout around the village to see if there's any other strange activity going on." I reply back to Kurama as I was making lunch for Himawari.

"Just be careful. That dark chakra is a nuisance."

"I know."

{Himiko's P.O.V.}

The next day at the academy, Konohamaru-Sensei showed us a new jutsu where a giant animal appeared. He was on top of a giant toad. Everyone was excited and ready to ask questions. But it was most of the girls in the class.

"Don't let them flatter you too much, Big Bro Konoharmaru." Boruto smirks with his hands behind his head.

"I told you to call me 'Sensei' during class!" Konohamaru-Sensei says back, then suddenly all of the girls that were in front of him glared at Boruto, saying he was too familiar with our sensei.

If only they the truth on why we call him 'Big Brother Konohamaru'. Girls can be so naïve sometimes.

So, I step in front of my brother to protect him from the angry group of girls and explain, "Big Brother Konohamaru is familiar with Lord Hokage and we've accepted him into the family. Plus, while growing up with him, we came up with the name Big Brother Konohamaru."

"What!? No way! You're lying!" One of the girls pointed at me.

"It's the truth. With what reason would I have to lie?" I put on my blunt expression at the girls. I really don't want to have a conflict first thing in the morning.

"Hey! She isn't lying!" Boruto defended for me, then ChoCho suddenly walks up beside us while saying,

"It's so embarrassing when a man has a unfiery complex. Besides, you lose hands down with character and with looks. I don't blame you for being jealous." She smirks.

"Was that an insult to my brother, Chocho?" I take a step forward to her. "He shouldn't be jealous of anything. Besides, it was just a joke in case anybody didn't catch onto it." I sigh at the end of my sentence. "Please don't take everything so seriously. My brother is a prankster. He likes fooling around. There is no reason to be so upset with him, and Boruto,"

"Yeah?" He cocks an eyebrow as I walk over to him, and I whisper in his ear,

"I know you want to prove to everyone that you can do the same as Konohamaru-Sensei, but don't embarrass yourself in front of the class please."

"It's freaky how you know my intentions, sis." He sweat-drops.

"Because we're siblings and I love you!" I take a step back and smile at him, then wrap my arms around his neck, hugging him close, followed by a giggle.

"Himiko! Not in front of the entire class! Come on!" Boruto gets flustered.

{Sarada's P.O.V.}

"That's so cute!" Chocho squeals when Himiko hugs her brother close as she giggled. How can Himiko be okay with her brother being an idiot? I get that she's protective over him, but she always acts like his bodyguard. It's so annoying. Himiko is better off with hanging out with other people instead of her brother.

{Himiko's P.O.V.}

Konohamaru-Sensei was explaining how we can sign a contract and summon an animal with the scroll he is holding. Once we have followed the procedures, we can summon our animal anytime and anywhere right where we are.

This almost sounds like the time when Mother and Uncle Ritsu were training. I saw Mom summon a black panther with purple eyes. It was huge, but not as huge as the toad that Konohamaru-Sensei summoned earlier.

The hard part is getting the animal to listen to you. So, mutual trust. But, we can't practice the summoning on animal, so Shino-Sensei thought it would be better for us to summon weapons instead.

Almost like Uncle Ritsu. He summons weapons all the time during Mother's training. I wonder what summoning animal would I choose for it to be by my side. My ideal of a summoning would have to be strong, loyal, dependable, and protective. That's how Mother and Father are like to each other, and that black panther is to Mom. Which animal is there? And Ritsu's summoning is a wolf! Maybe I should go for a wolf!

"Hey, Himiko, what kind of animal would you want for your summoning?" Chocho walks over to me, and suddenly I'm in the middle between a side of boys and the other side with girls. How much did I miss out when I was pending through my thoughts?

"I'm not really sure. Probably a wolf. Uncle Ritsu has one for his summoning, and my mom has a black panther. There's so much to choose from." I answer.

"You see that? Even your sister has a sense of style." Chocho smirks at my brother.

"Don't bring Himiko into this!" Boruto growls. How did a war break out so suddenly between boys and girls?

Around lunch time, Boruto and Sarada got into a conflict over the last bun. They were basically arguing over the last bun. Just to end the feud, I walk over to the stand and purposely say out loud, "One Yakisoba Bun please."

"Here you go." The lady in charge of the stand hands it to me after I am done paying for it, then hand it over to Boruto.

"Here you go, brother. The last Yakisoba Bun. Enjoy." I lightly smile at the end of my sentence.

"Alright! Thanks, sis! You're the best!" Boruto snatches the bun out of my hands and waves it in Sarada's face. Not the bed thing he should have done... It just made things worse.

Suddenly, every boy and girl in our class showed up. Boys were on one side and girls were on the other, leaving me in the middle. I'm not going to choose side over boys and girls. Earlier this morning was an argument about how the girls clean up after the boys and the boys make a mess of things, and the girls gossip about other things.

This is so annoying...

"Shino-Sensei." I sigh and he appears out of nowhere.

It's forbidden for classmates to fight each other." He says at first, "But this is a way for shinobi to have a truths. After class I will make a battlefield for you."

{Shino's P.O.V}

After announcing the battle between the boys and the girls, I could tell Himiko wasn't in the mood to go with it, nor was she interested at all. She stood in the middle without any thought to this. So, I pulled her out of class as soon class was over and brought her to my office.

"Himiko, I've noticed you haven't partaken in the offer I suggested to the class. You have shown no interest about it, even this morning."

"I just don't see the point of having this tiny feud over the smallest of things such as our class on a reputation, girls and boys gossiping and playing around too much. The way I see it, we're just being us as most any guy or girl would do, you know?" Himiko looks up at me.

"Himiko." She's very different from her classmates. Especially from her brother.

"Mother once told me that everyone is human in their own way. It was almost like she was telling me that everyone is special in their own way. As in, that's just who they are. All of this is a very tiny feud that my brother and Sarada started."

"Your mother said that to you?"

"Yes. When I asked her about her training, and she went into a story about what she experienced while growing up. She went into very specific detail."

"I see." She isn't wrong about what her mother told her. Akina grew up and saw the world differently. She tries to understand the Shinobi way through Naruto and Kakashi-Sensei, but she is still in the learning process. However,

Himiko is very different from her classmates. She is protective over Boruto and with stand through thick and thin with him, even if he makes a fool out of himself.

"Shino-Sensei?" Himiko calls out my name, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Hmm? Yes, Himiko? Sorry. I was thinking about something. What did you say?"

"I asked if I have to participate in the small battle between the boys and the girls. Because I am girl, do I have to be on the girl's side? I rather be on the boy's side with my brother." So loyal for her age.

"If you don't want to participate then you don't have to be apart of it. I'll have your mother come and get you."

"Actually. I rather just watch instead of participating. Is it okay if I watch instead, Shino-Sensei?"

"That's alright, Himiko."

"Actually, I would like to see both of my kids participate in this little activity. It could be good for them just in case something were to happen in the future." Suddenly Akina appeared in the room.

"Akina!?" I exclaimed.

"Mom?" Himiko blinked at the sight of her mother. "What did you mean by 'in the future'? Is something going to happen between my brother and I?"

"Not like that, Himiko." Akina walks over to her daughter and kneels down to her daughter's eye level. "All I am saying is that this could be a good lesson for you, and it would go great with your training. I've already heard about the little fight you got into with one of your students. So, think of it as a test. Think of this as an obstacle course."

"An obstacle course?" Himiko repeated.

"Yes. I want to see how much you've learned so far and what Shino has been teaching you. Is it okay if I watch, Shino?" Akina turns to me.

"Of course." I answer while nodding my head.

"So, Himiko. Want to participate? I know it's silly and childish, but you could learn something from it. Uncle Ritsu is watching Himawari at the moment, so I have time to watch you and your brother."

"Okay, Mom." Himiko nods her head, obeying her mother.

{Himiko's P.O.V.}

After class, the boys and girls have been separated in front of the academy entrance as Shino-Sensei was telling us the obstacle course. Our objective was to grab the red flag that he had placed on top of the roof of the academy. Whoever side captures the flag wins. The losers have to do what the winner's say.

Good grief...

As much as I didn't want to be on the girl's side, I had to because my mother was watching and this could be a good opportunity to test out my skills. I rather be on the boy's side to help and support my brother.

"Alright. Ready... Begin!" Shino-Sensei announces and the boys, and the girls rush to the entrance of the academy. Iwabee uses his staff to create an earth style technique. Using his staff, he makes a wall, blocking the girls to get through the entrance.

'Not bad.' I thought. I was in the back of the group of the girls as the earth wall was blocking our entrance. I lightly glare at the wall before running a little faster. As I come close to the wall, I jump in the air, twirl, and kick the earth wall, crumbling it to the ground.

"Woah!" All of the girls exclaim after I broke the wall.

"Hurry up." I order as I run ahead. I just want to get this over with and go home to my little sister, Uncle Ritsu, Mom, and Dad. This whole thing is pointless and childish.

{Shino's P.O.V.}

Himiko Otsutsuki Uzumaki. The top kunoichi in the class. She is physically strong, loyal, protective, and independent. One downside is she is very close to her brother and takes the fall, and blame with him whenever he's in trouble.

She takes after her mother's skills, and has Ritsu's stealth. With Naruto, she has a will to not give up.

{Himiko's P.O.V.}

As us girl ran to catch up with the boys, Shikadai uses his Shadow Jutsu to trap us. I see this coming and jump in the air to avoid the shadow, and land behind Shikadai, then putting him in a headlock. "Ow! Hey! Himiko, that hurts!"

"Sorry, Shikadai." I apologize, then we hear an explosion, causing Shino-Sensei to appear near us.

"I should let you know that I set up a few traps in this course. This is for you all to focus as you are trying to capture the flag." He explains.

"And I want you all to give it everything you've got! Good luck to all of you!" Suddenly Mom shouts as she stands on one of the roofs of the academy, smiling down at all of us. I almost forgot she was going to be watching.

"Mom!" Boruto grins.

"L-Lady Akina!" Sumire exclaims with a smile.

We continue to run through the academy to get to the flag and Sarada throws a few shuriken at the boys, but they were caught by Metal.

But Metal gets nervous when Boruto compliments him, and Sarada throws another set of shuriken at Metal, getting his clothes stuck to the wall. I go ahead to try and catch up with the boys, leaving the girl's behind.

"Hey! Himiko, slow down!" Sarada tells me, but I ignore her and continue running. As the girls was following behind, a slide down slams down behind me, blocking our paths. I was now separated from the girls.

I'm not really putting my effort into this whole obstacle. I think it was a good thing that I as separated by the girls. Now I can really focus.

After turning the corner, I press my back against the wall and perform a hand sign. I saw Mom do this one time when she was training with Uncle Ritsu.

"Dark Style: Shadow Dragon." I whisper and a small dragon appears on my right shoulder. "Show me the quickest route to the flag." I order it, and it begins to fly down the hall.

It was close to sundown and I was almost to the flag. "Himiko!" I hear my brother calling out to me. I turn to my left as soon as my dragon disappears.

"Boruto." I lightly smile at him, and I notice a scroll on his back. "What is that?"

"A summoning scroll. Wanna help?" He smirks.

"Sure!" How could I say to an offer from my brother. "How do we do this?" I question him and he walks me through the steps. Together, we bite our thumb and place it on the scroll as we both said,

"Summoning Jutsu!"

A giant summoning had appeared, but we could hardly see it. A snake like creature appears from the smoke and started to make a wreck of the building. Chocho was near ball and she fell off the roof. With instincts, I dive off the roof and grab Chocho by her arm.

Boruto grabs the hood of my jacket, and Shikadai, and Inojin grabbed onto Boruto. "That's a huge summoning, Boruto! What the hell is that thing?!" Shikdai shouted and the snake like creature came for us.

Suddenly Big Brother Konohamaru and Mom as they both shouted,

"Rasengan!"

"Dark Rasen!"

Together they destroyed the creature and sent it back into scroll. Mother pulled us up to the roof and sighed in relief. "That was close. Are you all alright?" She asks us.

"We are, mom." I nod my head.

"Hey, where's the flag?" Boruto searched for it and I pointed to the ground. "Aw, man."

"Mom, can I go home now? The flag is on the ground and nobody has claimed it." I asked and Mom nodded her head and replied,

"Yes, you may. You did very good, Himiko. I just hope the entire class has learned something from this."

"I doubt that." I mutter and look at Boruto, and smile at him. "See you at home, brother." With that said, I head home.
