Chapter 6

No One's POV

The next day a reporter arrived nervous to work. "Why so scared?" asked a co-worker. "I have to report on the recent murder. Ii know it sounds stupid but I'm scared that if I report on the murder I'll get killed too." she explained. Her co-worker simply laughed it off and assured her that she'd be fine. The reporter looked over her notes as she walked into the recording studio. "Are you ready Jane? We air in less than a minute." her boss said. "Yes let's do this." Jane sighed. She grabbed the microphone and began her report.

"Good morning Summerton! I'm Jane Monroe with your daily news! A recent report of a gruesome murder has arisen. Local authorities claim that four people were brutally murdered in their home last night. Chief Castro states that each victim was found missing an eye as well as an ear and a lung. Castro reports that the victims were cut open and the killer used their blood to write "Une belle mort" on the walls. Officers are still trying to find the meaning of this message which they assume is in another language. In an interesting turn of events police say that although any type of murder is wrong this particular murder helped them find countless missing paintings which were discovered at the crime scene. This including priceless works such as the Mona Lisa and Van Goghs Starry Night which have been missing for weeks now. The victims have not yet been identified and officers have no leads as to who the killer might be. Another message was also left at the crime scene which has absolutely confused police. "Glowing Eyes" was written in blood in one of the victims rooms. The Summerton Police Department is now referring to the killer as Glowing Eyes and they advise that residents lock all windows and doors in order to remain safe until the Glowing Eyes is found. I'm Jane Monroe and this has been your daily news!"

Main POV

I stared at the screen not sure of how I was felt. The people I killed had been infamous criminals! That did explain the paintings though. I leaned back into the couch glad that the police didn't have any leads. I'm surprised they haven't decoded my message yet though. Any one with Google Translate could figure it out! I guess my name is Glowing Eyes now. I suppose I kind of named myself when I wrote that though. I got off the couch and walked to the kitchen to make myself a sandwich.

No One's POV (again)

After a few days the Police Department finally decoded the message. "My theory is was that the criminals had some enemies who finally tried to get revenge." said one officer. "That theory could still work..." the boss trailed off. Other officers in the room sat impatient, waiting for an answer. "Come on boss! What's it mean?!" someone finally shouted. The boss left his thoughts and grabbed a slip of paper. "The original message was 'Une belle mort' and we have now determined that it's French for 'a beautiful death." he explained slowly.

Later that night Jane Monroe stepped up to the mic again. This time her anxiety had subsided as she saw hope for the killer's capture. "I'm Jane Monroe and this is your evening news! The chief of police has just reported that the code has been broken and he's released the details. The writing found at the scene has been translated to say 'a beautiful death'. Police are still searching for more evidence but as the chief reports their
Khopes are running low. Officer Stewart's claims that the case is hitting a dead end and will probably be closed. Officer Doe explains that the department doesn't know enough information about the victims except that they were grand thieves and a possible enemy may have killed them. What do you think? Enemy's revenge?    Random murder? Or perhaps the start of a town massacre? I'm Jane Monroe and this has been your evening news."

Main POV

A few weeks later everything had returned to normal. It seems like everyone's forgot about the murder and even the police have marked the case as closed. After I found that out Poe told me it was time to go out again and leave a more lasting impression. Shadow of course wholeheartedly agreed and so I ended up being forced to agree too.

I put on my "killing" outfit and left I wanted this to be big and I hat just the plan. I walked out of the woods and wandered for a while eventually coming across a random street. I counted ten houses and walked slowly down the street. I randomly picked out five houses, three one-stories, one two-story, and a really big house on the end. "Let's do this" I said letting my claws out.

??? POV

Slender had finally assigned me to an important target when all the commotion had died down. My new target was an abusive mother who had been possessed by one of Zalgo's men. I was really tired and just wanted to get it over with. Our house was almost rebuilt and I couldn't wait until I finally had my own bed. I shook out of my thoughts and found the house my target was located in. I surveyed the property and just as I was about to go inside, a hooded figure walked out covered in blood. The porch light illuminated their face but all I could see was a black mask. A red glow seemed to emit from the eyes and I cautiously stepped back. It was the same person Masky told me about. Before I could study them further they ran off and I was left to see what they had done. I went inside the house only to find my target dead as well as everyone else inside.

Back at our hideout I entered Slender's office apprehensively. "Sir, we have a problem. I arrived at my location only to find that the target was killed by someone else." I explained. "Are you sure Hoodie?" Slender asked. "Yes, sir. The strange thing is that Masky had the same thing happen to him and I think it might be the same person." I said. "Very well,  Hoodie. Gather the others in the living room so I can address everyone." he instructed firmly. I simply nodded and ran off.

??? POV

"You're all here because a recent disruption has been causing problems in some of my proxies recent missions. This person has been killing their target and still has yet to be caught by the police. I will still continue assigning you all missions but please report to me if you see anyone suspicious. In the event you discover who this person is, follow them to their hideout and report the coordinates back to me." Slender explained to us. Once he finished I hurriedly left and returned to my waffles. "Toby!" Clockwork shouted. "Yes-s?" I sighed. "Never mind, just go eat your waffles." she said. "T-thank you!"

A month later Slender called me to his office. I stepped inside and closed the door softly behind me. "You c-called-d s-sir?" I asked nervously. "Yes Toby. Ii have a new mission for you." he said handing me a folder. "I need you to take out all three of those people. They are becoming much too close to discovering our existence. As always all the information you'll need is in that folder." he explained, motioning to the folder. "Ok-kay sir, I'll l-leave-ve now-w." I replied. "Toby? I said this a while ago but if someone beats you to your targets, follow them and find their hideout. Dont kill them yet just bring me the coordinates. That is all." Slender finshed.

Main POV

"Hey! We're out of food! Shadow screamed. "I know. I guess we better go out and get some more." I sighed. With that I got up and changed into my usual killing outfit. "I'm tired so I don't want to go too far, let's just take a house near the woods." I told Shadow and Poe. They agreed and I set off. I didn't need to run for long before I found a house. I quickly scoped it out and went inside. It was just a simple log cabin but it was still a decent size. Inside, I sensed three people and got to work. The first two were easy kills but the third wasn't so easy. He must have heard me because when I went in his room he stabbed me in the side. I quickly "took care" of him and temporarily wrapped up my side. I cleaned up my blood and left the house as soon as I could. Before I left I grabbed most of their food and examined the place one last time. Odd pictures drowned the walls and maps were spread over all the tables. I stepped toward one of the drawings and studied it. It was a drawing of a tall faceless man with the words "always watches with no eyes" scrawled across the sides. I was honestly a little creeped out so I left in a hurry. I ran off into the woods and headed home to properly treat my wound.

Toby's POV

I had easily found my targets house and concealed myself nearby. I was just about to go inside when someone else ran out. It must have been the person Slender had mentioned because they were covered in blood. They ran off into the woods and I swiftly followed behind. I kept as quiet as possible trying my best not to make any noise as a ran after the mysterious figure.

Main POV

My side wasn't hurting as much as I had expected it to and it could have been because of too much blood loss but I just brushed it off because I sensed someone was following me and that wasn't good. I kept running hoping I'd lose them but I never did. As I got closer to my house I hoped my traps would help me but the person somehow avoided them. Just as saw my house I heard a loud crack. One of my trapped had finally worked. It took them long enough. I skidded to a stop and turned around only to see someone with strange orange goggles, a mouth guard, and a hoodie on. I studied them for a few more second before I noticed the two hatchets strapped to their side.

Toby's POV

The figure was almost to their hideout when suddenly I heard a loud crack and everything went black. I guess I'd been knocked out. When I woke up I was in someones house and my hatchets were no where to been seen. I tried to move but I was tied down. "Don't even bother with it." a girl's voice said. I looked up and a few feet in front on me stood a tired looking blonde. I ignored her and thought of ways to get out.

Main POV

I dragged the person to my house and tied them up. Then I hid their hatchets and decided to wrap my wound properly. I rinsed off the blood and my wound almost seemed healed. Weird. I got bored and decided to watch the "stalker". I carefully took off the goggles and mouth guard and set them  on the floor. My "stalker" was clearly a guy and I continued staring at him until he woke up. He tried to escape the ropes but I told him it was pointless. He ignored me and kept struggling as I sighed.

I went over to the kitchen and decided to be nice and make the guy a sandwich. After all he was probably hungry from chasing after me for so long. I also grabbed some water and even pain killer because the giant bruise on his head had to hurt. And I'm sure the gash hurt a lot more. Wait, gash?! Oops. I wet a towel and rushed over to him, carefully dabbing at the cut. "Are you okay? Does it hurt?"  I asked. "I-I'm fine. I can't-t even-n f-feel pain-n anyw-ways." he stuttered. "You can't feel pain?" I asked surprised. He then explained that it was a medical condition along with his stuttering and tic's. I sighed, feeling bad for him and went back to the kitchen to get his food, leaving the pain killers on the counter. I set everything in front of him and sat down. "Y-you're just-t go-going to e-eat in front-t of m-me?" he asked offended. "No. This is actually for you. Unless you don't want it I guess." I explained. "O-oh. Ok-kay." he said. "Here let me help you eat the sandwich." I offered.

After he finished the sandwich and drank all of the water I placed the icepack on his head and told him it would stop the bruising. He stayed silent for a moment before he finally asked "Why-y a-are you b-being so n-nice?" I couldn't help but to laugh before I said "Well I can be mean if you want but I don't really see the point of doing that."

Toby's POV

She seems so nice I just don't understand how she's a killer. I looked her over and noticed the bandages wrapped around her stomach. One of my targets must have fought back I guess. I felt uncomfortable being tied up, but I understood why she didn't trust me. And anyways it won't be long before Slender notices I'm gone. I just hope someone finds me soon so I'm not stuck here for a long time.

Slender's POV

It's been hours and Toby is still not back yet Something must have happened so I'll call Masky and Hoodie to find him. "Yes sir?" Masky asked. "Toby has not returned from his mission. Please locate him and bring him back. If someone has captured him bring them back alive please. I'd like to have a word with them. Go now." I ordered. I leaned back in my chair and watched them leave wondering what would happen next.

No One's POV

Masky and Hoodie searched for hours before they finally returned home to get Smile Dog. The sun would come up soon but luckily Smile found an odd tree house in thirty minutes. Masky and Hoodie awed at the waterfall and just narrowly avoided all of the traps thanks to Smile. Then they got ready to enter the house. Meanwhile Toby had actually become acquainted with his "kidnapper". He didn't really fight to leave so he had been untied. Currently he sat with his capturer on her couch eating waffles that she'd happily made a his request. Toby hungrily ate six waffles and he was very happy.

Main POV

"Hey you know I never got your name." I told the guy. "T-ticci Toby-y"  he said. "Okay Toby it is. They call me Glowing Eyes but you can call me whatever I guess." I replied. Just then, the door burst open and two masked people rushed in. "Oh-h he-hey guys-s!" Toby said energetically. "You're okay?" asked the guy with a white mask. "Y-yeah I'm f-fine. She-e even-n made m-me waf-waffles!" he cheered. "Oh Zalgo help us. You had waffles!? Never mind that. Are you hurt?" he asked. "N-nope." Toby said while the white masked guy glared at me. "He I'm innocent! I didn't do anything. He set off one of my traps so I took him inside, tied him up and treated his wounds. He was following me anyways!" I defended. "Well Toby Slender is worried so you need to come home." masked guy number one said. His white mask had black feminine features and the other guy had a black mask with a red frown. Masked guy one scolded Toby like a concerned mother and I couldn't help but giggle.

"O-oh! Let m-me introd-duce you! This-s is M-masky and-d that's Hood-die!" Toby said. "Oh hi, I guess. Hey Toby I'll grab your stuff so you can go home." I volunteered. Masky watched me as I uncomfortably grabbed all of Toby's things. "Actually, you have to come with us." Masky said. "Oh. Did I do something wrong? When can I come back?" I asked confused. "Our boss told us to bring Toby's capturer back with us. I assume he's mad you've been killing our targets." Masky explained. "Targets?" I asked. "We're murderers." he deadpanned. "Oh." I replied. I sat in thought for a minute before Poe chimed in. "Just go with them. They can't hurt you anyways because you're way stronger." he assured me. "Okay, I'll go. I'll just grab my house keys and we can leave." I told everyone. I grabbed my keys and walked out of the door turning around when they didn't follow. "Are you guys coming or not?" I asked. The boys quickly stepped outside and I locked the door. "Lead the way!" I said enthusiastically.
