~6 years before Minecraft: Arctic Fox~
"What is 891 divided by 3?" Ms. Hong asked her students.
From that moment, two kids raised their hands. One was a seven year old girl, with black hair and hazel eyes. On her mind, she's pretty confident, especially that she's at the top of her class-the 'star section' of 2nd grade, to be specific.
The other has a narrow (Asian), dark brown eyes, glasses, and has black hair. He narrowed his eyes at the girl, but he looked back to the teacher with a big smile.
"Yes, Kaylina? What's the answer?"
Kaylina, or Kay, as she preferred to be called, stood up with a smile and answered with a slight North Minecraftian (British) accent. "The answer to 891 divided by three is equal to 297."
"Correct! Good job, Kay!" the teacher praised her as the little girl sat down. Her entire class started clapping, except for the boy who raised his hand earlier. He groaned, swearing to himself that he'll outsmart Kay.
Then a ring blared at Kay's ears, a sound she wanted to hear-the school bell. That meant that school day is over, since Math is the last subject of the day.
"Goodbye, Jeb!" Ms. Hong told her class, which section name is Jeb--a section named after a great hero in Minecraft (in fact, the national hero of Minecraftia), Jeb. The teacher smiled at her students, in which the students waved a 'goodbye' gesture back at her.
"Goodbye, Ms. Hong!" her students replied back.

As Kay left the school and headed outside the school property, she met her best friends in class.
A boy with blonde hair and blue eyes placed his arm on Kay's back.
"Wow, Kay! You even solved that last math problem in just one second!"
"I know right?! And Kim, she even memorised the periodic table!" another girl with short, black hair, and brown eyes. "Those are like, high school things!"
"And I even heard Kay was trying to learn Naki-oor, a dialect in West Minecraftia!"
"Yeah and Naki-oor is dubbed the most confusing language in Minecraftia!"
Kay chuckled. "Let's stay chill, okay Seong and Kim? Oh yeah! Want to eat lunch with me, tomorrow?"
"I'd love to, Kay," they both replied.
"Okay-ooh! Dad is here to pick me up!" Seong ran to her dad in the distance. "Bye Kay! Bye Kim!"
"Bye Seong!" Kay told her. Looking at the school sign that read 'Dongmyeong School of Excellency - City of Gonjeon, East Minecraftia', she turned to the road and saw a white Moyoma heading towards her direction.
"Well Kim," she started, "time for me to go!"
"Bye Kay!"
As the white Moyoma stopped in front of Kay, she opened the door and sat beside the driver-a woman in her 30s, with black hair, hazel eyes, and white complexion.
"How's school today, my little kitten?" she asked.
At the back of her mind, Kay wanted to scream 'it was terrible', but she knew her mom didn't want that.
"It was great!" Curious, she then asked, "Why do you call me a kitten, Mom?"
Her mom then turned to her with a smile. "Because kittens are cute. And you're just as cute... if not even cuter, than a kitten!"
"Aw... thanks Mom!" She then gave her mother a hug.
"You're welcome," Mom replied, hugging her back.
The car drove off, into their destination-Kay's house.
However, in front of the school, Joon, her 'rival', narrowed his eyes at the white Moyoma. Although he knew he's smart, he couldn't beat her for some reason.
Soon, his dad came.
"Dad?" Joon asked.
"Yes?"
"Why can't I get to the top of the class?" After that, he began to sob.
His dad hugged him back (wow this book has a lot of huggies). "Don't worry, son. You will be."
At his son's back, he evilly grinned. He'll make sure to contact the Project authorities later.

The next day, Kay's mom dropped Kay in front of the school.
"Goodbye, Mom!" Kay told her as she gave her a kiss in the cheek.
As she went to school, she felt something pierce her right leg. When she looked at it, she saw a green dart.
Her vision started fading away, and the last thing she saw was a group surrounding her, watching her pass out.

~Three days later~
Kay's mom bawled her eyes out in her room (walls with white stained terracotta or clay, dark oak floors).
She asked her friends; they said they didn't know where her son is. Even the police reported no sightings of her anywhere. The only thing the police had was a CCTV footage in front of the school. Apparently, the suspect headed out of Gonjeon. No tracks of the girl nor the suspect has been found ever since, even in other cities.
A man with tan skin, yellow eyes, and hazel hair of West Minecraftian descent walked into the room, teary-eyed too.
"Don't worry honey," he comforted, "I asked the MBC to ask the public where our child is. We'll get her back in no time."
(MBC is Minecraftian Broadcasting Corporation. You guys should know this by now)
"I hope," she replied.
She looked at the night sky above the window. The skyline of Gonjeon's skyline and sandstone pagodas met her eyes.
Out of the seven million population of Gonjeon, or on the one billion population of the entirety of Minecraftia, she wondered if her daughter-her only source of hope and strength, is out there somewhere, still alive yet screaming for help, beaten up by the suspect, if not murdered. She hope it wasn't the latter.
(Longest sentence I probably made. Yay)
But what was the reason? What would the suspect want from her only daughter? Is it because of personal reasons? Her intelligence? Some sort of ritual?
All that she knew is that she won't know the answer soon... if the police doesn't.

~Bergenheim, 6 years later~
Kay hibernated in a chamber, with temperatures exceeding 700°ß.
(Now I'm confused with Kaylina in this story and Kayden, Jay's character in P:TLH lmao)
Scientists of BukkiTech roamed around, doing all sorts of work. Redstone equipments, beakers, redstone computers (yes those exist in Minecraftia), they do it.
"Power failure, Generator One!" a computerized female voice echoed.
The scientists looked up to the intercom, some muttering whats. All of a sudden, technicians bolted into the scene, presumably running to Generator One.
"Power failure, Generator Three!"
"Power failure, Generator Four!"
"Activating emergency generators!"
"What the Nether is happening?!" a man exclaimed-the head scientist of BukkiTech Bergenheim Division.
"Sir, we received news outside! East Minecraftian Armed Forces are bombing this place out, along with other Projects!"
"Emergency shutdown in T-minus 60 seconds!"
The place around them shook violently, like an earthquake. However, no seismic movements detected, as it is caused by bombings in Bergenheim.
"Everyone, evacuate this place right now!"
"Power failure, Generator Two!"
As soon as he said that, all other scientists started running.
"T-minus 30 seconds until shutdown!"
The head scientist started running too, leaving Kay behind, still isolated from the rest of the world.
"T-minus 10 seconds until shutdown!"
When the room went empty, it shook even more as the chaos above raged on. Soon, all lights went out. Redstone equipments malfunctioned. And the temperature in Kay's chamber went down.
One minute later, the temperature dropped to the normal level. Due to the temperature, the chamber no longer acted like a permafrost.
Then, Kay's eyes opened.
She looked around and saw the room emptied out in front of her. Violent shaking trembled the place, reminding her to get out of this place.
Using her fists, she clashed with the glass chamber and made her way out of it.
With the setting around her, the unfamiliarity of it made her wonder what happened.
She looked at herself. She wore ¾ length gray shirt, and ¾ length dark pants. Noticing the changes in her body, she gasped for a second.
"Puberty hit me..." Kay muttered. "But how?!"
Trying to remember what happened, she could only remember the day she passed out in front of school when she saw a dart. But how'd she get here?!
Her mind flashed back to reality when the place shook even more. Kay needed to get out.
As she went through the place like a maze, she wondered what the Nether is going on outside.
After a few twists and turns and wondering and wandering, she made it out of the environment she was in. However, it turned out to be another nightmare.
Jets of East Minecraftian origin released bombs on the other side of the city. A few tanks rolled in. Destruction has ate the city severely. Even a red phoenix flew towards a giant building, holding something in its claws!
When she looked at the ground; however, Zombies and Skeletons met her. A few Skeletons already raised their bows.
Kay looked around for an escape, then at her inventory. No weapons, no escape. Well then...
She looked at the Zombies and Skeletons. Kay ducked, and three arrows flew right over her back. No other choice, she pushed the Zombie towards other Zombies, knocking them down like dominoes causing a chain reaction.
As the Zombies tried to stand up, Kay took this as a chance and ran. An arrow landed over to right where she was earlier.
She ran, almost tripping on debris in the process, unsure where her destination is-as long as it's safe.
Passing by a sign, she read it.
"Welcome to Bergenheim!
The Land of Prosperity!"
What?! How did she end up in Bergenheim, miles away from Gonjeon?! More importantly, why is Bergenheim being bombed?
That didn't matter. She looked up, and she saw a giant with tan skin, light blue shirt, blue pants, gray footwear, and white eyes. A few figures also floated, as if trying to kill it.
Not wanting to get crushed, she ran even further.

~Pennheim, Central Minecraftia, one day later~
An old woman with tan skin, white hair that used to be hazel, and of West Minecraftian descent held her telephone.
"Uko bea peginv eah et Gonjeon, uqkouxb?" she asked. (TR: Are you moving out of Gonjeon, already?)
The man on the other line replied.
"Bout, I anxokjhunx. Vëx ybo!" (TR: Yeah, I understand. Good bye!)
She then hung up.
The old woman looked at her business. A bunch of tables and chairs laid in position in front of her. One customer ate their food in front of her.
She looked at the clock. Nighttime. Few more minutes until closing time.
Her mind wandered back to her son's missing daughter. It's been six years, and she's still not found. Either it's best to assume that she's in a very distant place... perhaps the Shenzen Islands? Or it's best to assume she's dead.
Outside, a group of people surrounded Kay, with angry looks.
"You and your kind are the exact reason that this nation's under a freaking collapse!" yelled one woman.
Kay defended, "I don't know what the Nether are you talking about. But I don't want any trouble, okay?"
"You don't want- are you freaking serious?! You Projects freaking destroyed our nation!" another man shouted at Kay, throwing a rock against her.
"Boooooooo!" A handful of people threw rocks at Kay. In response, she shielded herself. Why is this happening?!
"Hey! Get outta here! Get some manners!"
The citizens looked at the old woman, who apparently yelled that. Then they turned back to Kay, who shook in fear.
"See ya later, you piece of crap."
They then stormed off, leaving Kay and the old woman alone.
The old woman approached Kay.
"Are you al- wait that's a stupid question. Of course you're not."
Kay looked at the old woman. "No, I'm fine."
She emphasized, "You're clearly not. You're wounded a lot. And you look pretty thin, too. You haven't been eating in a while."
"I can pull myself," Kay replied.
"No. That'll make it worse. Let's get you patched up. C'mon, follow me."
Hesitant, Kay followed the old woman. As she followed her, she came up to the sign that read, Jivneko Eatery. Maybe the old woman is of West Minecraftian descent?
The facade of the house is pretty simple, typical to that of Central Minecraftian houses. Birch wood plank walls, windows with quartz linings, and dark oak doors. You might think it looks like a suburban house.
"Let's go inside," the woman offered.
When they got in, the interior with spruce plank floors, accompanied by furniture and appliances. Looks pretty hospitable, much like the woman. Wonder what her name is...?
The woman went to grab medical equipment.
"Um... excuse me. What's your name?"
"It's W-kunyoj'yu. Or Mel in Minecraftian."
"I never thought names could be translated. Also nice name," Kay told her. Mentally, she gasped. Mel is...
"Thanks!" Mel replied as she approached Kay, with a box with a red cross marked on it. "Now, let's get you-"
She then looked at the top left side of my head. "Is this your birthmark?"
"Yes. It's my family's birthmark. My dad's, at least."
She then showed me the side of her own head, with the same... birthmark?
Kay gasped. This is why the name seems familiar! She's West Minecraftian, just like her dad!
"Wait, grandma?"
"Kay?"
"Wait, what?"
"Thank the Onhihc! It's..."
It took several minutes, but Kay realized. "Grandma!"
Despite her wounds, Kay still hugged her grandmother.
"I thought you were far out all the way to Shenzen Islands!"
"I really wasn't. Turns out I was in Bergenheim."
"Wait, really? Your parents searched all major cities in Minecraftia for six years and you were in Bergenheim this whole time?"
"Long story," she replied, although she couldn't remember all of those, nor remember what actually happened, where everything including her own body changed.
"Doesn't matter. I'm just glad you didn't get bombed! I heard Bergenheim is no more than a bunch of debris in the ground!" Grandma told her. "Now, let's get you patched up. Your wounds are not that deep, so you shouldn't worry about it."
As she patched up her wounds, Kay at the back of her mind still didn't believe what just happened. The person right in front of her was her grandma?!
Does she happen to have the same birthmark?
"I'm just curious," she started, "what's the name of your son... if you have any?"
"My son is your dad, isn't it? His name is Phil. Why do you ask?"
(Damn I couldn't think of a good name)
"I'm just making sure. By the way, where's my parents?" she replied.
"They moved out of Gonjeon. Dunno where they are."
That's definitely her grandmother. There's no way that's coincidence.
"Understandable," Grandma commented. "There. Done!"
Kay placed her hands on her wounds, in which she felt something covered. Bandages. Nice.
"Feeling better?"
"Yes."
"I bet you're hungry, too."
My stomach growled as soon as she said that.
"You're too nice," I remarked.
"There's no such thing as 'too nice'." She then winked. "I'll go get some food to eat."
"Oh and Grandma."
She turned back. "Yes?"
"Thank you."
Smiling back, she told her, "Don't mention it."
* * * * *
~Three years later~
Kay walked alongside her grandmother on the sidewalk, lined by shops and factory outlets, towered by skyscrapers and business centers (a very typical view of Economy Bay, Pennheim's business district), carrying stuff bought from Pennheim Supermarket.
"Lemme help you with that, Granny," she offered.
"No, no. I insist!"
"Are you sure? That looks really heavy."
"I got this."
As they walked under broad daylight, they stopped at a red light. When they faced the road, they needed to cross it.
The traffic lights turned green, and they walked across the road pretty slowly, considering the age of Kay's grandmother.
"Kay!"
"What?!"
Suddenly, she felt a force that pushed her to the other side of the road. Her heart jumped for a second, releasing a scream as she did. Her feet made attempts to keep her balance-by making steps (literally) to resist the force.
But it all ended when her feet collided with the ground. She could feel herself near the ground. Landing on the ground with her arms, sudden pain rose from her body as she landed.
Then Kay heard what sounded like tires drifting. From her nostrils, she smelled the burning of rubber. She could see bits of glass shards fall onto the ground.
But what bothered her was a loud SNAP that accompanied the drifting of the tires.
Forcing herself to look towards road, she saw a truck flipped to its side. A bag of radishes found lying on the ground; a thing that her grandmother brought earlier.
Then her grandmother laid on the ground, with the lower half of her body missing. By the sight of it, her heart sank. She gasped.
"Grandma!"
Dashing towards her grandmother, she knelt down to her knees, holding her grandmother. There, Kay hopes that she's alive, although there's less than one percent chance that she is.
"Granny! No!"
Kay's heart went emotional. She tried to shake her alive, but it's too late.
"Granny..."
Her eyes released tears now.
"NOTCH DAMMIT!"
A sudden burst (or blizzard) formed and surrounded Kay. It rushed throughout Economy Bay, breaking all the glass in the process.
Burst of flames engulfed Kay's heart. She gritted her teeth.
Whoever was the driver of the truck should pay.
Whoever was the person who headed the program that started the Project should pay.
Whoever started this absolute mess which separated her from her parents should pay.
Before she knew it, a whole ice storm started rampaging Pennheim, as a violent reminder of what her life is like today.
* * * * *
~One year later~
Kay walked alone in a birch forest in Southern Dennerheim Island, just north of Bonnheim and Sergen, letting her mind constantly torture her of reality, of how empty her life felt, to the point of asking herself what the heck is she still doing in this world.
Why is she still doing here?
In this world, there's no one like her grandmother or her parents. Who would help her as much as her grandmother did when she was beaten up by anti-Projects? Who would sacrifice their life as much as when her grandma pushed her away from that truck?
After all, people as good-willed as her grandmother or her parents are rare. Because in this world, it's every creature for itself. It has long been Minecraftia's nature...
Thanks a freaking lot to those who started this absolute mess that turned the nation into a Nether hole.
Out of the blue, she heard roarings of helicopter blades.
Speaking of absolute mess...
Looking up, she saw it wasn't an attack helicopter. From its movement, it seemed that it headed towards Bonnheim.
However, as her eyes landed on the city, she gasped.
Only that it wasn't a city.
It's a city buried under snow.

Finally
So yeah
This is RCatFire77's reward for making the cover of K9: Evolved! Thanks!
But yeah.
Personally, I find Eternal Silence better than this short story but what do you guys think?
Fun facts:
1. Ry actually didn't send a backstory for her character unlike what Naomi did with Fenne. So I had to make a back story for her character from scratch.
2. Unlike what I did with Eternal Silence, this story was planned only a day after Ry sent me her character. So I had written this in like a week.
That's sorta the reason why Eternal Silence is better for me personally. Because in Eternal Silence, I planned it a month before its release. I planned this only in a week, so it kinda seems rushed.
3. The creation of her grandma was partly inspired by a K-drama I just watched (I never finished rip).
4. The idea of starting in a school was to show that Kay was a simple yet intelligent kid whose life went chaotic since the Projects. That's pretty much the basis of other backstories as well.
5. The Moyoma car brand was just a ripoff of the brand Toyota XD
6. I rushed this so much that it almost felt like I winged this one lmao
7. I may or may not have placed references in this short story.
So 3406 words.
What will happen- oh wait
That's it from me, everyone!
Peace!
