United Once More
That voice, sweet as the honeysuckles in springtime, soft as a feather from a dove. Beautiful as a ballad sung by a mockingbird. It had been too long since he heard it last.
Yoongi's heart skipped a beat when he turned to see her standing in the moonlight. Her silvery white hair glowing with a soft pink hue.
There she was, finally. But he found himself frozen in place. The way her white gown flowed in the evening breeze.
She's really here. All the longing, waiting, and working hard in the garden just to bring her back to him.
Here.
Jinx' beautiful green eyes staring at him. Not moving. Two hearts beating in the same space that had longed for each other for so long.
When he thought about it over the months and years that had passed. He found himself running towards her and taking her in his arms. Now in this moment.
He did not move. Chest heaving with every breath when finally Jinx to the first stepped towards him.
Her bright eyes searching his. Why wasn't he moving?
She stopped less than a foot away, her small hand reaching out to touch his face. The feeling of her soft skin against his allowing him to finally move.
Heart racing as his lips found hers. Lost in each other's embrace, tears of pure happiness falling.
"Jinx..." Yoongi murmured against her lips. Jinx smiled.
"It's been so long. My heart could not take much more."
Up above the stars twinkled forming two nine tailed foxes intertwined together. As if the universe was saying 'finally.'
"Look." Jinx pointed towards the constellations above. Yoongi held her from behind resting his head on her shoulder gazing upward.
"Written in the stars." He whispered, softly kissing her cheek. Jinx
In this moment the king was so happy. His heart light, carefree of any dangers or troubles within the empire.
For once there were no worries of what tomorrow brings. All he could feel was the adorning love for Jinx and what their future together would hold.
"It's like we don't exist." Whispered Kira. Jimin simply shrugged, watching the pair as they gazed up at the night sky.
"All you need is the love of another that matches your own and the rest of the world just falls away."
Kira looked over at Jimin.
"Do you love someone?"
Jimin nodded, smiling at her.
"I do."
"Who?"
His eyes fell to the stream running through the garden.
"She walks among the shadows and is forever lost to me."
Kira watched a lone tear fall down his face. Swiftly he wiped it away, smiling up at Kira.
"I am happy though. I still see her everyday."
"You didn't say who it was?"
Jimin sighed, "Your mother."
"What?"
"She was a chambermaid to the queen. Working long hours, coming home exhausted but full of riveting stories. The monarchy was in trouble. Many thieves had attempted to break in and steal away the crown."
"I don't understand." Kira's head spun with so many questions.
"gods were forbidden to be with humans. Not long after Seulgi was rejected by one of us. Everything transpired after that. You remained unknown to all, except one."
Jimin paused for a moment.
"For they know all. I had to leave. Give you both up to protect you. But when I found out what happened to your mother. I couldn't just stay away. I had to make sure you were safe."
"What happened to my mother?"
"She messed with the fates design without knowing. So she was turned into a tree. Left in the forest of Tranquility."
Kira knitted her brows.
"Forest of Tranquility?"
Jimin nodded slowly.
"You were left in a basket in the Queen's chambers. So I wrote a note to her. I begged her to keep you, to raise you."
"Where is the forest of tranquility? Can't we find her? Talk to her even?"
He shook his head, solemnly.
"No... she doesn't speak anymore."
Jinx walked over, her hand laced with Yoongi's. He looked confused as ever while she looked at her friend sympathetically.
"What? Why?! I don't understand?" Kira stared at all of them in confusion. None of this made sense. If the queen took her in like said, then why was she the right hand man's daughter?"
"The queen wasn't able to fulfill that request. So she gave you to her trusted friend. They took you in without question. Raised you like you were their own daughter." Jimin frowned at a memory. Jinx squeezed his shoulder with a reassuring smile.
"When I took you from the castle that night. We ran through the forest of tranquillity. I left with Ingrid, who you forgot about after some thistle bark tea. Several years passed and you made your way with some hunters deep within the Nocturnal forest. They loved your speed and agility. It's why they allowed it."
Kira listened in disbelief as her life story unfolded. He knew about her time with the hunters. When she found herself at the castle once more under a new King's rule. That king being Yoongi. Her mother was amongst the trees that burned in the burning forest. Had it not been for the past year or so, she would not believe a word of it.
"So, is my mother alive?"
"No one really knows..."
Yoongi knitted his brows. Something about her mother seemed oddly familiar to him. Could her mother possibly be his tree mother from long ago? His eyes darted to Jinx. She was watching him carefully.
"Chakri."
Jinx' eyes grew wide, she looked at Jimin.
"Was her name Chakri?"
Jimin's face filled with shock. He nodded vigorously, tears welling up once more. Kira looked confused as ever.
"Chakri is Yoongi's tree mother. She stopped speaking years ago."
All four of them turned to look at the burning tree at the edge of the garden. To this day Chakri still doesn't speak.
Jinx stared at the tree for some time in contemplation. While Yoongi talked to Kira about the tree that was once her mother. Jimin stood listening, lost in his sorrows.
"Meddling gods." Jinx smirked, walking up to the burning tree.
"Jinx what are you—" Yoongi didn't finish his question. Jinx lifted her hand to touch the burning bark. All around a pink glow spread along the gnarled wood, up through the branches and limbs. The burning embers dissipated in little wisps of smoke. In their place green moss sprouted like a bandage to cover the holes, filling them as well.
All of them stared in awe of Jinx' new capability. The black charcoal faded away giving new birth like a Phoenix from the flames.
Someone gasped for air, while others held their breath. From within the bark, a pair of grey eyes looked out at them. A small smile formed just underneath.
"Hello, Chakri." Whispered Jinx as she took a step back towards Yoongi. Chakri's eyes wandered from face to face, falling on Jimin's surprised one.
"Jimin?"
Kira looked from Jimin to the newly rejuvenated tree. Jimin ran towards Chakri, falling to his knees as he sobbed at her roots.
Yoongi had a huge smile on his face. For his love has reunited a family once more. She also brought back his only true mother. Turns out he had a sister. He chuckled to himself.
Jinx smiled up at him.
"What's so funny, my King."
"I have a sister."
Kira raised an eyebrow at him.
"You're adopted." She teased, sticking out her tongue.
They both laughed.
"Kira, my strong girl. I have listened to your trials and all the things you have done until now. I am so proud of you." Chakri smiled at her daughter. Jimin sat hugging the bottom of the tree like a baby attached to its mother's leg. Chakri didn't seem to mind.
"I wish I could have known you before." She sighed, Kira looked at Yoongi then back at Chakri.
"You are here now. But how did you hear of me?"
"Trees talk dear. Especially the one by the stream of dreams."
Jinx smiled at Yoongi, who kissed her forehead.
"I believe Hwasa knew everyone's story or at least the dreams our subconscious allowed her to see."
"We are all connected to the same fate line it would seem." Jimin finally spoke, wiping away his tears of joy.
"So it would seem."
"Wait..." Yoongi was troubled by something Chakri had said.
"You didn't speak to anyone for years...how come?"
A pained expression riddled the bark.
"The pain was too great at times. My voice would have come out in wails. Jinx I thank you for my freedom."
Jinx bowed her head.
"I am so glad we are all united once more." She started with a grin. Then turned to Yoongi holding out her hand. He took it happily, a great big gummy smile spreading across his face.
"But now, I would like to make up for some lost time with my King."
