King's Mother

Yoongi stood in his dark robes with golden tendrils of leaves sewn into them. He watched the crowd of villagers caroul around the platform with the rope hanging over the gnarled wood.

Today they would hang a traitor to the Empire. Someone who had tried to murder him in earnest within the burning forest.

Although the accusation wasn't completely true. It had truth in it. When Yoongi was a child his mother attempted to murder him for riches beyond her wildest dreams.

For the longest time he had thought she had died. That was until she approached him in the woods, demanding what she believed to be rightfully hers.

When Kira got wind of it. She didn't stand for it. Herself and Jimin searched the village for the seamstress, taking her in shackles in the dead of night.

Now she sat in wait.

"How are you doing, Yoon?" The Sunshine god asked from behind the curtains. He was trying to remain hidden.

"Do you think this is right?" Yoongi asked the god while his eyes skimmed the crowd for a familiar face. Jinx' face. One he knew would not be among them, The garden was far from ready.

"Your highness." Giles dull tone interupted the conversation.

"What is it, Giles?"

"The prisoner is ready. Also there is movement in the east."

"Movement?" Yoongi turned his head to look at the older man.

"Yes... the pen's are moving towards the burning forest as we speak. They should hit the village by nightfall.

"Send out a small group of our strongest soldiers. I will join them when night falls."

"Sire, you are still recovering."

Yoongi frowned. He knew he was recovering. He also knew that his soldiers couldn't face the beasts alone. They'd never return to their families.

"I'm fine."

"To the underworld you are, Yoongi!" Objected Kira, throwing out all respectful niceties.

"Kira."

"Yoongi." Kira narrowed her eyes at the king. He was leaning heavily on the balcony. She could see the pain in the crease of his eyes. Even if he tried to hide it, she'd see it.

"I'll go in your place. I am your right hand man after all." She smiled, puffing out her armored chest to prove herself. Yoongi chuckled at the girl. She was a fighter, he knew that well.

"Your Majesty do you really think sending a woman is wise?" Giles asked the disapproval strong in his tone.

"She is better than 10 of our finest soldiers." Yoongi stated. Giles scoffed.

"But sire."

"You are my advisor. Consider me advised."

Kira smirked triumphantly. Angry cheers sounded from down below. Bringing the King's back to the crowd.

There standing on the platform being pelted by rotten vegetables stood his mother. She stared up at him defiantly. The woman didn't even flinch when a tomato hit her in the face.

One of the guardsmen began to read all the transgressions of the King's mother. With every word the terrible woman's smile grew wider, to the point where it looked like her face would break.

When the guardsmen finished reading he looked up to Yoongi, who stood up straight.

"Do you have any last words?" He called out to his mother.

"You'll never be loved." She spat at him. This put the crowd in an outrage. A whole new plethora of vegetables pelted the woman up until the moment the rope rest around her neck.

Yoongi sighed heavily.

"She would kill you if you don't." Assured Kira. Yoongi grimaced as he drug his thumb across his neck. Giving the sign to proceed.

A small gasp from the crowd as her body dropped followed by the sickening snap of her neck, sent a cold shiver down the King's spine.

Slowly the crowd dispersed, wisp of white catching the King's eyes. A woman with silvery white hair covered by a rice hat waded through the sea of people towards the market.

He was certain it was Jinx. But as soon as he saw her, she was gone.

"Take my horse." Yoongi blurted out, trying to distract the depressing thoughts that tried to invade his mind. He was hoping for the playful banter from Kira to ease the pain. To which he was rewarded with.

"That old goat?" Kira scoffed. He pretended to offended.

"Chet is a great steed."

"For an old man!!"

"You calling me old, wench?"

Kira raised her brow at the word.

"Excuse me sir. Did you say wench?"

"Certainly."

"I'm offended."

"I'm King Min Yoongi. Nice to meet you, Offended."

They both busted out laughing. Making Giles look at them like idiots.

"Tend your garden sire. I will take care of the situation rising in the east." Kira hugged the King, leaving hastily before Giles could object further.

Giles gawked at Yoongi, who just shrugged. The old man stormed off mumbling absurdities under his breath.

"You did well, Yoongi." Smiled the Sunshine god.

Yoongi frowned. For a sunshine god he sure did know how to throw someone into their dark thoughts.

"I feel like I should have died years ago."

Hoseok huffed angrily, causing the lights to flicker violently.

"Don't speak that way."

"It's true, why else would there be a need for this constant heartache."

"Be patient. Tend to your garden. Fill it with your love. Jinx will come."

Yoongi walked out the room towards the steadily growing garden.

"I just don't understand why I can't go to her."

"Because she can't return with you unless there is a garden or meadow nearby."

Yoongi groaned, picking up one of the shovels.

"It's hard to be patient when it feels like as soon as I have her she'll be ripped away from me once more."

Jimin appeared in a cloud of blue smoke with an arm full of flowers and a bucket.

"Hello, Your Majesty." He greeted Yoongi happily. Hoseok glared at the god of Seas. Receiving a confused look from him in return.

"I meant to tell you the other day that I did what you asked." Jimin's demeanor was a happy carefree one.

"You did?"

"Yes, I sure did."

Yoongi smiled a huge gummy smile for the first time in a while.

"What did you do, Jimin?" Hoseok asked skeptically.

"I found the necklace of a lovers lost and presented it to Jinx for Yoongi."

A loud crack followed by brown smoke filled the walkway. Within it a Namjoon appeared.

"You did what?"

All three men gawked at the god of Destruction. He had made a huge crack down the middle of the way that went all the way under the tree.

"You sure do know how to make an entrance." Mused Hoseok. Jimin walked along the long jagged hole about 4 feet deep.

"Perfect." He whispered, kneeling down letting his hand graze the sides. Slowly the hole filled with crystal blue water. Small green plants grew beneath the surface and koi fish sprung to life from underneath them.

Yoongi and the other two watched in awe. Something that could have been disastrous to Yoongi now looked beautiful and promising.

"I missed when he used to do that." Sighed Hoseok. Namjoon nodded in agreement.

Yoongi strolled along the stream, watching the koi fish swim about. They were so carefree. One day he wished he could be that way. Turning around to take in the rest of the growing garden. He soon realized just how close he was to seeing Jinx.

"It's missing one more thing. Although I don't think I can bring you them here."

All the gods looked at the King with questioning eyes.

"What is it?"

"My mother."

"Isn't she dead?" Jimin asked, confused.

Hoseok smiled brightly. He knew the mother the King spoke of.

His Tree Mother.
