I wake up realizing I fell asleep last night crying, I stretch and look at the clock. It's Sunday, and 9:00 in the morning; I groan feeling a headache as I get up. I walk to my bathroom and take a short shower, I brush my teeth and brush my hair. I then throw something on with my gloves. I grab my brown messenger bag as my bangs fall in my face as I hoist the bag on my shoulder. I walk out of my room and down stairs into the kitchen.

"Mom he found his mate and its not me!!"

My eyes widen at the disaster I walked into.

What the hell? Iris has tear stained cheeks as she throws a tantrum, my mother looks like she is ready to pull her hair out, and Annie has her hand over her mouth trying not to laugh.

"Its that stupid slut! She drugged him, or cast a spell on him or-or Something!!" Iris screams as she falls to the floor and slams her fist down. I smile thinking of Bain, I wonder what he was doing? Is he wondering about me? Maybe he sent out a search party. My smile widens, oh I wonder if he is thinking about me.

"What are you smiling at?" My sister yells snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Nothing ," I breath, she rolls her eyes as she stands up and walks to me.

A loud sound echo's in the kitchen as I find myself on the ground holding my cheek from where I was just slapped. I slowly pick myself up to see my sister standing over me breathing heavily. I see all the hate she has for me, but I also see sadness deep down. She then rushes pass me as my sister gives me a worried look, I send her a smile, to reassure her I'm okay and walk out still feeling the sting on my left cheek.

I walk out the door of the house and walk along the sidewalk. A small smile plays on my face. I make it to the library as I walk in smiling, I lift my head and suck in a breath at who I see. I duck behind one of the book shelves in the library, I use it to shield myself from the person, as I keep my eyes on him between the books.

He is sitting down at a table with a notebook and a pen. He has a fancy looking laptop too. His hair is pushed back and is the color of dark chocolate, his eye were studying the screen as his hands effortlessly wrote something down. His eyes look to be a deep blue, as he glares at the computer screen. A beauty Mark is right under his left eye. He is very well built, his black under armour shirt hugs his muscles and his dark jeans cover his long legs. His shoes are expensive and new, his face had long ago lost the baby face, he has one dimple on the left side and his eyelashes are long. His name, is Daniel Clay Press, he is the royal beta, beta of all betas.

Also the Kings best friend.

If he is here the king can't be to far behind. I smell the place but don't smell him any where. Not like it would help I don't even know what he smells like, I move along the bookshelves still looking at the Beta, I wonder what he is writing.

Not seeing the stray book on the floor I trip and fall creating a loud thud in the silent library. I am met with a hush from the librarian as I roll my eyes at her. I look up and freeze. There, with a smirk on his face, stands the beta. He puts his hand out I look at it and hesitantly grab it. He helps me up as he laughs a little. "Clumsy are we?"

I laugh nervously as I mumble "very."

He smiles "you okay?"

I nod, silently freaking out, as I'm a bout to speak, I'm interrupted "oh look its the glitch." I freeze as I turn and see Hannah over my shoulder. I instantly tense up as my blood runs cold.

Hannah is my full time bully, its like her job, and she is not a slacker when it comes to it. She is gorgeous, her hair is honey blonde and stops at her shoulders and her eyes hold so much life. They are this gorgeous bright ocean blue, she is about four inches taller then me and has the curves in all the right places. I wish I could say her boobs were fake but sadly they weren't, her make up isn't like a clown either. She has powder and blush, her eyes have a natural smokey eye and she has mascara on. She is the definition of perfection.

Even when it comes to her personality.

She is a sweet heart to every man she meets, she reads to old people on weekends in the morning, her grades are perfect. But, if she didn't like you, she became the devil in a mini skirt. Her mini skirt is white and reaches her mid thighs. She wore a black tank top with a blue Cardigan.

Her two followers Ashley and Kandy giggle at her joke. Ashley has a pixie cut, her hair is dark brown, her eyes match the color of her hair and her long lashes have mascara on them to make them appear longer. She has a light blush on her cheeks. She is smart, very smart, and knows all the gossip before anyone else, her brother is on the football team, as she is a cheerleader. They are the perfect twins.

Kandy is the dumb one. Kandy has brown hair with red highlights, her eyes are grass green. She is petite and lacked in the butt department were Ashley fulfilled in. But Kandy has the boobs, and Ashley does not. Kandy was stupid, I'll be honest, but when it came to fashion, she was a genius. 

Hannah smirks at me as she looks at the beta behind me "excuse her Beta Daniel, she doesn't know her place" Hannah then grabs my arm and yanks me down on the ground. "Be a good glitch and sit." She says mocking me she then says "now roll over glitch" she smirks. I don't move so she kicks me in the stomach. I fall to the floor and roll over like she commands as my face burns red from embarrassment. Her laugh fills the air as her followers join in.

I hear a growl so I look up to see the Beta fumming and glaring. But he isn't glaring at me he is glaring at Hannah. They stop laughing as they realize he doesn't find it funny.

"Apologize" he demands.

"bu-but she is just a glitch she is nothing but a glitch." I close my eyes as the words hit me. I blink back tears as the girls apologize. The glare they give me tells me that this isn't over with that they turn and leave. I look up and see the beta put his hand out to help me up.

I put my hand in his as he helps me stand. I bite my lip then quietly mumble a thank you. He shrugs and motions me with his head to follow him. I hesitantly follow him back to the table he previously sat at. I sit down beside him as he looks at me. "A glitch?" He asks, my head shoots up.

"Like the glitch from wreck it Ralph?" He asks seriously.

I smile as I nod "Just like her, the glitching, though it only affects my powers." I say to which His eyebrows raise curiously, "uh so what are you doing?" I ask as my eyes land on the notebook paper that has the names of girls from this area. How I know it is from here is I recognize some of the names.

He smiles at me. "Well, looking for the girl that is Bains mate." He answers a smile playing at his lips.

I raise a brow "oh?"

He nods as he adds "I just can't believe she ran." I sigh as the thought, I can runs across my mind.

"What?" He asks, my face turns red as I realize I said it out loud.

He smiles "enlighten me why the kings mate would run from him."

He questions making me blush "well, that's it, he is a king, his mate could see her self not good enough to be a queen or a kings mate, what if she is weak, or only a one power human or better yet what if she is a glitch like me."

He smiles "I get it." He looks at me "what's your name by the way so I can write you down."

My eyes widen as I silently panic "uh why?" I stammer.

He raises a brow "for the mate thing" he states obviously.

I gulp "I'm not his mate, I'm a glitch. "

I say, he opens his mouth but I add "I most likely don't have a mate." His mouth shuts as he gives me a look full of pity. "I-im sorry. " He says.

I shake my head "don't worry, I've gotten over it, can't forget about it with my family always reminding me though " I say with a laugh.

I then glitch and teleport to the seat beside him, he looks at me and raises a brow. "Glitch?" I nod as I hang my head down in shame. " Hey it's okay" he says as I look back at him.

I smile "Desdemona Navi, but I go by Navi " I say knowing I'll regret it later.

He raises a brow as I laugh "that's my name."

He laughs "does it have a meaning?" He asks while writing it down.

My smile fades as I say "yeah, basically it means of the devil, or Ill-fated one, and my mom hates the color Navi so yeah." I say. His smile fades as he gives me a sad smile.

He then puts his pen down and looks back at me. "Powers?"

I roll my eyes and smile at him "teleportation, and ice," I say he nods as he writes it down. I look around to see people giving us weird looks.

I clear my throat. "Well I better go people are starting to notice the beta and the Glitch are talking" I say as I stand.

He rolls his eyes "your fine sit back down."

I laugh and shake my head "Are you sure you'll be the laughing stock "

He shakes his head as he winks at me "I'm the beta they can't make fun of me." I roll my eyes as I sit back down.

One guy tapped my shoulder and told me I needed to leave the beta alone before he catches my disease. In the end Daniel had threatened at least ten people. I laughed as he told me a corney joke about the guy that had told me I had a disease.

We are now talking about our childhood. Or his at least. I was laughing as I asked "wait, so you stayed up the whole night with a packet of gum, chewed every piece one at a time and stuck it in her hair?" I ask he laughs as he nods.

"Yeah, when she woke up she was so mad, my father had to hold her back before she killed me."

I laugh as I hold my stomach "I bet! I would have killed you!" I say in between laughter.

He laughs, as he then calms down a bit and asks "so what about you" I shrug "Iris hates me, my parents remind me everyday I'm a mistake and Anne well, we aren't close, she is more quiet and nice to me" I say. I pause as I look at him and smile. "But" I say as a smile subconsciously makes it's way to my face just thinking of her.

He raises his eyebrows "I did have a best friend, still do, I just haven't seen her in like two years though" I say with a laugh.

He smiles "Tell me about her."

My smile widens "Her name is Rilina, Riley for short, she has pitch black hair, no body ever believes it is natural, but it is I swear. My sister Iris hated her and she hated Iris. It was so funny they fought constantly" I say as my smile brightens, his eyes light up.

"One time when I was 7, uncle Carter, Riley's dad, came down to visit, he isn't really my uncle but he acted like one, anyway, he brought Riley with him and she spent the night with me",I say as I start laughing "an-and she brought this green dye and put it in Iris's shampoo, and when she washed her hair it turned completely green", I say in between laughing as he laughs with me.

"Are you serious?" He asks to which I nod.

A bit of silence engulfs us as we get our breathing back to normal he then asks "So have you found your mate, I know you said you probably don't have one, but maybe you just don't want to say?".

I pause, then nod automatically "uh yeah" as my head falls and my smile goes with it knowing I'm now in deep doo-doo.

"What's wrong did he reject you?" He asks with a growl. I shake my head as I look at him "no, more like he doesn't know." I whisper but he catches it as he gives me a cautious look. I clear my throat " It isn't the king if that's what your thinking." I say with an eye roll.

Smoothest lie I have ever told, silent high five.

He nods skeptically "why haven't you told him?" He asks me, I let out a deep breath as I look up at him.

"My own family hates me, everyone hates me, how would my own mate want me if no one else does? My whole life I've been told my mate will reject me, that is if I even had one. Growing up I accepted I didn't have a mate and would probably die alone in some place in the mountains and I accepted it, I welcomed it. Being alone was great for me. I wouldn't be judged I wouldn't have to worry about freezing somebody or something I wouldn't have to worry about. About anything" I say as I breath finally getting everything off my chest.

I look at Daniel and see his jaw drop."What?" I ask as I raise a brow and cross my arms.

His eyes light up with pride as he smiles "nothing " he then shakes his head and looks at the time, 7:30. "Oh shit! I have to go" he starts packing and then looks at me. "What are you doing tomorrow night?" He asks.

I shrug "nothing " I say he nods as he winks.

"See you tomorrow at 5 " I try to protest but he is already out the door. I huff as I stand and walk out as well.
