"So..you and Bain seem to be getting close." I smile at Annie's mention of Bain.
"Maybe, I really want to do something to make up for...well everything." My right hand goes to my earlobe as I start tugging on it gently.
"Honestly Nav, I think he is over it." I shrug at Annie as she pulls into the driveway of the house.
"Yeah but still." I sigh as I open the car door and step out.
Annie follows my lead and we walk to the door. I turn the door knob pushing it open as I walk in, Annie is a step behind me.
I freeze as I see an older version of me sitting on the couch. I tilt my head. The only difference, brown hair.
"Hi!" The girl smiles sweetly and waves from the couch she is sitting on.
"Navi is that you?" My mother states as she walks into the living room."Ah you have a visitor." I nod at my mom ignoring the unusual nice behavior.
"Your Navi? Hi I'm Jacy." She stands and offers me her hand, I take it hesitantly and shake it.
She looks just like me, aside from the hair and the fact she doesn't have scars or still healing bruises.
"Right, I don't mean to be rude but, do I know you?" I ask as politely as I can. Annie comes up beside me with a neutral expression. She was seeing if this girl was a threat.
"My name is Jacy May Milston. You know of my sister Macy Jay Milston, I'm her twin." She states with a hesitant smile.
My body immediately goes hot at the mention of Macy's name, images of Chadum races through my mind. I try to keep my breathing even and face neutral.
"Macy, Chadums mate?" I ask to clarify. Jacy nods, my stomach drops and what I had to eat earlier begs to come up. I keep it down.
"Yes, my twin sister, Macy, died during labor, after that Chadum went missing. I heard you ran into him." Jacy continues "I was wondering if you knew where he was, I've been looking for him."
Just like that I can't breath, I cant speak. Luckily for me I don't have to my sister urgently speaks before I have a chance to even try.
"Ran into him?!" My sister Annie practically yells, I turn to her and my eyes widen.
My sister is flustered, with a look that could kill aimed at Jacy. Her hands are clenched and flames spark around them. My eyes widen even more, my mother and I take a step back, away from Annie.
Jacy eyes us and contemplates doing the same. Though she decides against it.
"He kidnapped her!" Annie states as she takes a threatening step towards Jacy whose eyes widen at the words. "He beat her, starved her and shocked her! For weeks!"
"I-I didn't know, I-I'm sorry." Tears threaten to spill from Jacys eyes, I grimace looking at her before turning my attention to Annie, who looks ready to cook Jacy. I put my hand on Annie's shoulder causing her to snap her head towards me.
"Its okay, Annie, she didn't know." Annie breathes in deep at my words and closes her eyes and breathes out, smoke comes from her nose and the sparks coming from her hands stop as she loosens her clench fists.
"I truly am sorry Annie, you must be very protective over your sister." Jacy states with a sad smile. Annie nods.
A clap is heard through out the room causing us to look at my mother. "Jacy, why don't you stay for dinner, I'm finishing up now?"
"Oh, I couldn't possibly intrude."
"No you must." My mother pushes.
"Oh, okay! Who am I to say no to free food," Jacy states with a giggle. My mother nods with a smile on her face and walks into the kitchen. Dread seeps into my stomach.
"I'll help you mom." Annie states, she looks at me and then looks back at Jacy for a moment before walking into the kitchen.
"I'm sorry about your sister," I whisper with a grimace.
She shrugs "it happened years ago. Like 20 years. Almost." I nod.
"Would you like to see a picture?" I nod at her, when really my stomach turns. She pulls out her phone and quickly brings up a picture and shows it to me. My jaw drops slightly.
She looks identical to me. Short Blonde hair, blue eyes, small frame. Even the same face structure. Her hair was a couple shades darker than mine but other than that it looks like me. I look at the man standing beside her, holding her affectionately.
Chadum.
A much younger version of Chadum but its him.
I cover my mouth with my hand to prevent myself from vomiting.
"Girls dinner is ready." My mothers voice floats through the room causing Jacy to lock her phone and put it in her pocket.
"Come on, I'm starving." Jacy then walks away, I follow slowly behind, I've lost my appetite.
Jacy talks to Annie, my mother, father and Iris, about, well I don't know. I tune her out, all she seems to talk about is when Macy and Chadum were alive. Like she is trying to prove Chadum is not a bad guy.
Maybe I am biased but that's just what I feel like she is doing.
Annie glances at me every couple of minutes and tries to change the subject but Jacy is oblivious and continues or relates everything to Macy and Chadum.
I push my food around but don't really eat, just a couple of bites I force down.
I sigh, over the talk of Chadums glory days, and stand up quietly with my plate in hand.
"Where are you going Nav? I'm just now getting to the best part." Jacy smiles politely at me.
"I have school in the morning and I'm tired. I must go to bed. Maybe finish some other time." I say with a forced smile.
She will be gone, I'm sure she will leave after realizing Chadum isn't here. I'll never have to see her again.
I take my plate to the kitchen and rinse it off before resting it in the sink. I quickly turn and walk through the living room up the stairs. I close the door behind me and lean against it with a heavy sigh.
Seconds go by and soon a knock sounds at my door causing me to jump. I stand straight and open the door to see a worried looking Annie.
"Are you okay? " I smile at my worried sister.
She really needs a hobby, I don't like seeing her worrying about me all the time. "I'm fine." I smile, yet the more I think of it the more my mind is tortured with memories from Chadum.
Her eyebrows furrow. "Are you sure?"
The words hit through my walls like a wrecking ball and the flood goes through. My lips tremble and I cover my face as a sob breaks through, my shoulders shake and my throat burns as I try to hold back the sobs. I hear my door close and arms wrap around me.
I cry harder as I flinch unwillingly at my sisters touch. She rubs my back with her right hand. I wrap my arms around her shoulders and bury my neck in her chest. The memories hit me in waves.
"I could roast her like a marshmallow if you want me to?" Annie asks causing a slight giggle from me.
I shake my head no at her offer.
"Damn, I really wanted to. Well I'm sure she will leave soon. You'll never have to see her again." My sniffles slow down, I gain control of my emotions. I back away from Annie and give her a broken smile.
"Thank you." I whisper.
"Would you like to sleep with me?" Annie tilts her head slightly with a smile on her face, her question lingers in the air.
"No its okay, I'll be fine," I sniffle.
Annie nods as she hugs me once more. "If you change your mind, the doors open," Annie smiles, her eyes show sadness and pain though. I nod as she walks out and shuts the door.
I turn and grab a change of clothes and walk to my bathroom, I quickly shower and brush my teeth. I change into the comfortable tshirt and shorts and slide into bed.
I snuggle into the covers close my eyes and wait for the nightmares to snatch me up and drown me in another restless night.
