Chapter 8: McDonalds?
Hama's point of view
"We nearly die and the 'sanctuary' you take us to is McDonalds?" Asked Victoria, as if she still didn't believe it.
"It was the first place I could think of." Morgan said defensively.
I look around the restaurant and saw a very bored looking cashier paying no attention to us whatsoever.
"What's a McDonalds?" Asked Catherine.
"A fast food restaurant." Victoria answered back.
"Oh"
"Morgan take us back to our dimension." At that we all start arguing that we need rest and food for just one day. Victoria just shook her head and insisted that we leave. We argued even more.
"Fine, fine we'll stay a few more hours to eat and rest." She said digging through her satchel. She pulled out a wad of green paper and went over to the counter to order food.
30 minutes later
It was the bloodiest battle I had ever seen. Across the battlefield lay the broken and limp bodies of the opposing force.
The ground was covered in the color red and the shields of the army lay in discarded heaps.
I was terrified by what me and my friends could do when we showed no mercy.
Then my friends started to clean the battlefield and within a minute not a trace was left of the fallen warriors.
"Hama you do realize your talking about your food like it's people?" Asked Victor sitting across from me.
"Since when can you read minds?" I asked baffled that he could hear my thoughts.
"I can't, you were just talking out loud." Victor replied chuckling.
"If I did do you think I would have said half the stuff I thought I said in my mind." I back. They were all laughing at me, as if I'm certifiable.
'I swear I'm not crazy, well at least not in public.' I thought in my mind.
"Still talking out loud." Morgan pointed out.
After they finished laughing at me, we decided to plan the coming war. We talked for ten minutes, then the door to McDonalds opened.
A girl walked in, a girl whom looked exactly like Natalie. This day just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
'Strange.' I hopefully thought just to myself.
"One crispy chicken salad, please." She grabbed her order and then she caught sight of us at our table. She started walking towards us, smiling.
"Hey Victoria and Morgan, didn't know you'd be here." The girl said. "And hello people I don't know."
"Hey Paula." Victoria said nervously. "Guys this is Paula from my school, Paula this is Hama, Daniell, Heath, Sebastian, Johnnie, Victor, Catherine, Ron, Joseph and Natalie."
"Nice to meet y'all." She responded. "Did y'all come from a renaissance fair or something like that?" Noticing our armor and weapons.
"Yes." Morgan answered quickly. Paula just looked at him weird and then I saw her looking straight at Natalie.
"Strange, you look exactly like me." Paula said addressing Natalie. "What's your last name?"
"My name is Natalie-" Natalie was then interrupted by Morgan.
"Arrow, Natalie Arrow. Guys we really must be going now." Morgan said hinting very heavily that if we didn't something very bad would happen.
"See yah." Paula said walking off.
Once we were outside, I asked Morgan what all that was about. He started explaining about time traveling and not messing with other dimensions.
Honestly, all I heard was end of universe and mirror-selfs.
"Okay, okay I get. Don't touch anything or talk to anyone." I said.
"I didn't know you came here before and from the looks of how y'all two were all chummy, often." Sebastian said turning to Victoria.
"I do come here a lot, only because I've been trying to learn more about the other dimensions." She explained.
"What do you do here?" I asked curiously.
"I go to school." She said following behind Morgan.
"What do you do in this 'school'" Daniell asks trying to get more information about Victoria.
"I learn things and make new and make different friends, just like regular school at home."
"That's boring." I said expecting something grand.
"That's my version of normal. It is boring at times and stressful, but it's fun at other times." She answered.
We walked on for a minute in silence.
"Where we going now?" Johnnie asked.
"My house." Morgan answered.
"And that's where?" Joseph asked.
"Just follow me. It's a little ways off." Morgan explained.
We walked for several minutes, then we finally made it to his house. It was a beautiful three-story home with a beautiful little garden.
Inside, we are greeted by two people, whom I assume are Morgan's parents.
"Hello Morgan and Morgan's friends. Morgan, if you and your friends need food, I have some snacks for y'all." Morgan's Mother says.
We go upstairs to Morgan's surprisingly spotless room. We each grab a chair and sit.
"Y'all can walk around or rest, but as for me I am beyond tired. As Nico once said 'With great power, comes great need to take a nap.'" He says before flopping onto his bed, asleep as he hits the bed.
"Anyone know who Nico is?" Asked Johnnie.
"Nope." We all chorused.
"I'm gonna go to the store to go get some clothes that aren't blood stained." Victoria said.
"I'll come with you." Daniell volunteered.
Once after an hour of sharpening my daggers, I got bored. I walked around a bit and found strange plastic boxes with little pictures on them and titles.
I found one with a cool and dramatic cover. The title was Lord of the Rings.
"What's that you got there?" Asked Sebastian, who also seemed bored.
"No idea." I said trying to open the strange box. I finally found the lock keeping it closed. I opened it cautiously and inside was a strange metal like disc.
I grabbed the disc, that also had a picture on it and held it in my hand.
"It has a hole in the middle." Sebastian observed.
"No, duh." I muttered trying to figure out how it worked.
Then the door burst open and two very disheveled and sooty people came in. It was Victoria and Daniell, covered in ash. They were each clutching a gray bag with the word Wal-Mart on it.
"We got the clothes." Victoria said in between coughs.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Met some lava monsters on the way back and let's just say that the town is more on fire than it was before." Daniell said, smiling slightly while passing out the clothes.
Within thirty minutes we were all in new clothes and clean. All except Morgan, who if you didn't know otherwise you would have thought he was dead.
"Morgan get up." I said grabbing a random stick and poking him with it.
"Never." His reply is muffled by the pillow and all that came out was unintelligible.
"We need to get back. Now." Victoria said.
Fine." He says tiredly, flopping completely off the bed. I just roll my eyes, but smile at his weirdness.
He gets up and tells us to get in a circle to transport us back. I grab a marshmallow from my pocket and popped it in my mouth.
"In 3, 2, 1." Morgan counted. We stood there in silence for a few seconds.
"Nothings happening." I whispered.
We all look at each other, unsure of what's happening.
"What's happening Morgan?" Victoria asked confused.
"I think I overworked my powers, taking you all here." Morgan answered, looking terrified of Victoria's reaction. She simply sighed.
"How long before you can take us home?" She asks.
"About..." He trails off mumbling.
"About what?" Joseph asks apprehensively.
"A month." He squeaks out. I definitely would not like to be Morgan.
"A MONTH!" Victoria shouts bewildered.
