Chapter Four
Part One- The Princess
Jade Mountain Acadamy had a pamphlet that they sent out to students, every student got them, and with the recent influx of hybrids there was a new spot in every winglet for these dragons of mixed parentage. Victorious didn't see her name in the hybrid spot for the academy
Welcome to Jade Mountain Academy!
At this school, you will be learning side by side with dragons from all the other tribes, so we want to give you some basic information that may be useful as you get to know one and another.
You have been assigned to a winglet with six other dragons: the winglet groups are listed on the following page.
Thank you for being a part of this school. You are the hope of Pyrrhia's future. You are the dragons who can bring lasting peace to this world. We wish you all the power of the wings of Fire!
Crystal had been the first of her half-siblings to hear the news from the gala, and she had made herself rather comfortable on Victorious' bed, tossing blankets over her shoulder. The ice-purple dragoness had plastered her talons over the pamphlets and snorted. "Do you really want to go to a school like this? Why can't Mother and Father send you to a regular Icewing school?"
Of all of Victorious' half-siblings, Crystal one the one that she could tolerate the most, who talked to her. Slush, Diamond, Cyanite, and Stratus tended to avoid her like the plague, but Crystal was far more curious about her oldest half-sister.
"Learning about the other tribes and their strategies so that if war might take hold," Victorious tipped her head to Crystal with a smirk ", I'm the prime one to destroy them."
"You?" Crystal snorted ", Destroy the other tribes? Yeah right-"
Victorious rolled her grey eyes at the icewing dragonet, reaching out and snagging a paper from her sister. She stared down at the pamphlet and let her eyes scan over the paper. The list of dragons she would be going to school with. Dragons she would be spending her time with for the next five years of education.

Quartz Winglet. No other Hybrids. Primarily male. Father would have hated that, but she assumed he couldn't pay to have her in a den of all females. As her eyes scanned the paper again, she spotted one that was rather familiar.
"Vaquita?" Victorious whispered under her breath.
"Vah-what-ah?" Crystal pipped in, peering over the top of the paper.
"She's a seawing noble's daughter-" Victorious recalled, the enforcement of the circles had caused her to memorize names as if there were a catalog in her mind ", My seawing siblings and I would play with the nobles kids when I was in the Sea Kingdom."
"Weird-" Crystal chimed ", She's the only other girl. So you'll probably be bunking with her. It'll probably be good for you to have a Seawing on your side, but don't let Amur or Icestorm see you hanging with her too much-"
Victorious turned her head toward her younger sister ", Why's that?"
"Cause they're snitches-" Crystal sneered ", Dad's probably sending them for a duel purpose. Train Amur for council and train Icestorm for a high general rank."
"What about the other two?" Victorious asked, glancing down at the paper ", Serendipity and Penguin?"
"Those freaks?" Crystal snorted with a raised brow ", They're from Among-the-Evergreens down south. They've been climbing the rankings really fast but they're two of the freakiest icewings I've ever seen."
Victorious rolled her eyes, of course, they were. She knew Amur and Icestorm were more colorful than the average icewing, oranges and greens respectively in their pale palettes, but they were nothing compared to Penguin and Serendipity. Those two stood out like sore talons with spatterings of dark blues and sprites of purples, it was strange to see colors like her siblings and herself on these pure-blooded icewings.
"Freaks isn't the right word-" Victorious muttered quietly ", Different doesn't have to be bad."
Crystal seemed to realize how her words sounded, because she stiffened with the blankets over her wings, "I- I could have picked... Better words maybe..."
"I'm leaving in the morning Crystal-" Victorious mumbled, reaching out with the claw on her wing and dragging the blanket off her back ", Are you and the four going to see me off?"
"I will..." Crystal whispered ", But the others won't. I'm not even sure that Dad will show..."
Victorious tipped her head to her half-sister, her wings drooping ever so slightly ", What do you mean..."
But she already knew what Crystal meant.
"Dad has his duties and so does Mom-" No matter how many excuses Crystal made, the blaring truth hit Victorious ", So... General Frostfire is going to be taking you there. But I don't see why you have to go... So maybe you should stay... Maybe marry Ymir and not leave 'cause..."
"I can't live that way-" Victorious cut her off before Crystal could finish her thought ", I can't hate Ymir because of Father. If that's how love has to be, I don't ever want it."
"I'm gonna miss you-" Crystal finally admitted quietly ", It's gonna be lonely without your weird butt around here."
Victorious chuckled slightly, tipping her head down and shoving her half-sister with her wing ", You're not going to miss me that much. You have suitors to turn and twist and friends, and the others. You're the oldest so keep those dorks in one while I'm gone."
"I will-" Crystal mumbled, starting to stand and shaking her wings out ", I hope that school doesn't suck and you aren't stuck there longer than needed. Maybe when you return, I'll be Queen and you can be my General."
Victorious laughed lightly ", Maybe- Now get going. I have to sleep."
"Alright, alright-" Crystal sneered playfully at her as she started toward the door. When Crystal left, she pulled the door shut behind her, her tail slipping through the handles, keeping the ice snug against the walls. Victorious was glad to be alone at the end of the night, her earrings and horn decore were heavy on her body.
Her talon lifted up the sparkling diamonds in her ears, setting them back into the box they came from, followed by the horn jewelry. The box, safely wrapped in scarves and sleeves, was then tucked in the bag she would take to the Acadamy with her. She yawned, rubbing her eyes with her free talon, it was late. She had to sleep.
Victorious flopped herself on her bed and breathed in the smell of her blankets. It was no home, but the Icewing Palace was the thing she knew most and better than anything else. It was the closest thing to home she had outside of her Mother and siblings. Victorious closed her eyes, shoving her snout into the pillows and tugging her blanket over her wings.
Sleep came quicker than she expected.
