Movie night
Hello, my name is Julie Lazire, and I wish that I didn't have to be here right now. Unfortunately, I am here, to tell you something that I wish I could've prevented. You've probably heard the phrase 'too good to be true', right? Well, I never thought that could happen to someone. I always thought that if something ever did seem perfect, there would be no reason that the creator would purposefully ruin that. I learned the hard way just what people can do with the illusion of beauty.

"Marie, do you ever stop studying? The test is two weeks away. The world is going to forget you exist if you never interact with it!" I joked at my best friend Marie Sintars. She looked at me with an expression that screamed 'I love you but please shut up'. She did that a lot. "I swear to God Julie, this is the reason you're failing all your classes." She smirked at me. I guess she had a point, but at least I left the dorm once in a while.
To be honest, I had no idea why she never went out and had fun. Marie was absolutely gorgeous, she had long black hair with pale skin, but not a sickly colour, they perfectly contrasted each other. She was quite tall and thin, and she had a lovely smile, although she only showed it when she was with me. And her sparkling blue eyes behind tinted round glasses, her slightly rounded nose, her pearly teeth. Then there's me. I had short mousey brown hair with matching freckles. But not cutesy little cheek dusting freckles, they were obnoxious splotchy annoyances. I had a thick neck and rounded cheeks with childish dimples. I could probably pull the look off when I was a kid, but now I'm nineteen. But I didn't let my appearance get me down. I liked to wake up early and seize the day! Marie didn't see it like that.
She was an introvert, but not like any others I've seen. She only talked to me. I suggested that maybe she had social anxiety, but I couldn't convince her to see a professional. I don't see why, she was really smart, but that's probably because she spent all her time working.
"Miss Sintars, if you don't put down that pen in one minute I will pry you away from your desk by hand." I rolled my eyes at Marie. She knew from previous experience that I meant that, so she put the pen down and put her hands in the air. Satisfied, I held her hand and dragged her over to the living room. We sat down and I asked her what she wanted to watch. Marie knew how much I loved old movies, so we agreed on Heathers. I hadn't seen it, but Marie was clearly invested in the story.
We didn't stay up too late, because we had classes the next day. Marie went to bed but I was too comfortable to move, so I fell asleep on the sofa.
"Goodnight Marie!"
"Goodnight, Julie."
