A Sister's Light
(I'm skipping a bit, but if you guys like it, I'll write the in between. The song is 'Guide me Home')
I let out a puff of breath and push open the door. I walk inside and take a look around. I see him. I touch his shoulder and he spins around to face me.
I look into my oldest's brother's eyes. They were once so full of wisdom and love for all of us as a family. But that's all gone. Now they're empty, bright blue pits of darkness. I can feel him look into my purple eyes, but he doesn't speak.
"Leo, please tell me you're alright?" I beg him softly.
"I'm here, Hope," he says, his voice rough. He spat out my name. No, it wasn't my name, it was the name of something he never wanted back. Hope.
"Leo, I missed you so much-," I start to say, but he cuts me off.
"No you didn't! Don't bother trying to lie to me. Save them for the others! You would've come back sooner if you did care," he says turning away from me. In my chest, my heart felt like it was being ripped apart by Leo's words.
"Leo, please," I choke out through my tears, reaching my arms to hug him, but he pushes me down, onto the wooden floor. He starts to walk away.
I can only think of one thing to do. I start singing. Me and my brothers would sing at night when we were scared. We each had our favorite song to sing, and we would do duets. Me and each of the guys had our song we would sing together.
(Hit Play)
(Hope)
(Leo)
(Both)
This is the Darkest night.
Stars have all faded away.
Quiet upon this world.
Through the clouds,
There is a Light.
We will find Our way.
I would die for you,
Cross the skies for you.
I will send out a light,
Burning for you alone.
You're all I need,
You set me free.
And this fire,
Will guide you home.
There is an open door,
Somehow it feels familiar,
We have been here before.
Through this Earth,
Forgotten flight.
There must be a way.
I will die for you,
Cross the skies for you.
I will send out a light,
Burning just for you alone.
You're all I need,
You set me free.
And this fire burning,
Will guide you home.
(Louder)
Where our hearts are wide open.
Where our bond is unbroken.
I will die for you,
Cross the skies for you.
I will send out a light,
Burning for you alone.
I will die for you,
Cross the skies for you.
I will send out a light,
Burning for you alone.
You're all I need.
You set me free.
I will die for you,
Cross the skies for you.
I will wait for you,
And I'll stick with you.
You're all I need,
You set me free.
You set me free.
And this fire will guide you home.
(End of song)
I wipe my tears away and Leo comes closer.
I look up into his eyes. They're bright again, full of caring and wisdom, and he helps me up.
"Thanks, Hope. I'll never give up again. I have to be the leader, and I can't give up because it gets too hard for me," He says, and crushes me in a bear hug. Or would that be turtle hug.
"Welcome back, Big brother," I say, hugging him back.
"Now does your girlfriend get a hug now?" Karai asks from the doorway.
I let the couple have their hug, thinking about my own love. The great and powerful black ninja can't even notice his girlfriend is in the same realm as him. I feel tears run down my face and I lift my hand to brush them away.
Another hand beats me to it. A green, three-fingered hand. Leo crushes me once more in a hug, this time Karai joins in.
"Hope, I know you felt alone growing up, being the only girl in the lair, but that doesn't make you any less of a person, or a ninja," Leo says into my hair.
