Hey people! In this chapter we get a glimpse of Hiccup's home life. I hope that you like it.

Hiccup quickly packed his backpack and left school. He began to walk the long way to his home that he shared with his father. 

About an hour later he opened the back door and snuck inside hoping to avoid his father. That didn't work. 

"HICCUP!" Stoick the Vast shouted.

Hiccup cursed silently and replied, "Yes dad?" 

"Get in here!"

Hiccup quickly made his way to the living room where his dad, Stoick, was sitting in his chair a bottle on hand. 'Great, he's been drinking again.' Hiccup thought trudging over.

"Hiccup." 

"Yes dad?"

"Get to work."

"Yes sir."

With that Hiccup began to work while his dad continued to drink.

Later that night...

"Dad! Please stop!" Hiccup cried.

"Why? Get to bed!" Stoick screamed.

Hiccup quickly scrambled to his room crying. First he's beaten at school then at home. 

Hiccup then went to his chest and pulled out an old, tattered, well-read bible that was his mother's. He flipped it to first
Psalm 27:1, 'The Lord is my life and my salvation; Of whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?' 

That was his own confirmation verse just 2 years ago (when he was 14). Then he flipped to the gospel (Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John) and began to read. A song popped into his head as he read. 'To the captive it looks like freedom, To the orphan it looks like home, to the skeptic it might sound crazy to believe in a God who loves.'

Hiccup smiled as he thought of his mom, Valka, who had taught him about Jesus. 

Then he bowed his head and prayed, before going to bed.
