accept help when it serves itself on a golden platter—”

"Where were you last night, Hoba?" Namjoon said, pulling his friend in his room to have some privacy while they conversed.

The day had been strange for the boys. They had once again touched on the subject of dating in their dance studio during their break. It had ended with Yoongi storming out of the studio and a guilty look to replace Seokjin's usually happy face. The others had been left sober and Namjoon curious.

Hoseok couldn't blame his friend for prying. He was their leader and he had responsibilities. It was his right to know what was happening with his bandmates who had become more like brothers in the past years. He needed to know in order to maintain the balance in the team and provide help when needed. Hoseok understood that whole dynamic and yet, he only sighed as he plopped down on the bed.

"You won't stop asking till I tell you, will you?"

"Not likely," Namjoon replied, plopping down on his bed, staring at the ceiling. "Do I have to tell our manager to draw up an NDA for you?"

Hoseok chuckled at his dry sense of humour. "Not likely," he said, copying his friend's words. "I don't think I'll ever see her again. She looked angry when she walked away."

That made the leader's head whip in his direction with huge eyes. "Now, that sounds interesting. What happened?" Hoseok regarded his friend for a moment, seeing the genuine interest in his eyes. He could only sigh again as he recounted last night's events.

"I said something to her that offended her though I'm not completely sure why. She just stormed away telling me that I don't have any right to judge her and I shouldn't pretend to understand her."

"Oh, damn! What triggered her? Can you remember?"

Of course, he did. It was impossible for him to ever forget. "I saw the slit wound on her wrist. She tried taking her life," he said solemnly, rendering Namjoon speechless as well. "I told her I don't judge her and it somehow triggered her. Seems like a lot of people have judged her in the past and she won't be able to trust even those who are genuine."

"That's understandable," Namjoon replied calmly, staring at the ceiling once again. "What was she like? Did you fall in love at the first sight like Jin hyung?"

Hoseok laughed heartily, slapping Namjoon's arms playfully. "Not every woman is Sehee to fall in love at first sight and I doubt many would fall in love with Migyung at first sight. She looks quite... broken and even her beauty can't hide how disconnected she is to this world. It's like she isn't living for herself anymore."

"Wow," the leader let out, still staring at the ceiling. "It's like you've already figured her out and you went to meet her the second time thinking you could heal her. If she doesn't want to live anymore, she won't listen to anything you say. You shouldn't waste your time on her even though it might seem as if you should help her. You can't help someone who is not ready to receive it."

Hoseok hummed quietly, mulling over Namjoon's words. Was it really a waste of his time, going to meet her? Why was he even interested in meeting her again? People like Migyung didn't engage with people like him, at least not in more than a friendly way and it seemed like they wouldn't be friends either. And yet, he wanted to meet her again and see how she was doing? See if her eye bags had increased due to lack of sleep or her shoulders still sagged because she was feeling depressed. He had a lot of questions and it required meeting more than twice.

"I should give it another try," he said, sitting abruptly and making an almost asleep Namjoon wince. He looked down at him with a smile. "Do you think she would be willing to talk if I gave her a gift? Although I don't know if she would like flowers. She looks like she would rather prefer a pack of cigarettes or a beer instead."

He didn't give a chance for Namjoon to answer, making him shake his head in disbelief. So much for this Migyung girl not being his love at first sight. He might as well get prepared to face their manager again because of a girl. This would be so much better if they weren't Idols, but well, it was their choice to be one.

In the end, Hoseok ended up buying a small pot, filled with soil and a surprise inside. Migyung would have to water the pot everyday, take care of it everyday to grow well to see the flowers. Maybe, that way she would feel a little less lonely, a little less sad. He hoped it might even bring some life back to her blank eyes.

The thought of buying beer had momentarily passed through his mind but it was discarded as soon as it came. It was true, what Namjoon said; he wanted to help Migyung. It wasn't out of a misguided notion of wanting to create a bond with her, that would be just taking advantage of her. He just wanted to help her and he wasn't sure why a label was needed to put on his gestures when they were completely out of a sense of humanity.

Help comes in all forms and without ulterior motives. Hoseok had no ulterior motives, other than maybe making his conscience feel somewhat at peace. Now, it all depended on Migyung; whether she wanted to accept his help or cut ties with him. He just needed to at least try once, to feel no regrets later. Turning a blind eye to the sufferings of others is considered a sin as well.

So, humming to himself, the bag holding the present swinging back and forth, he walked over the bridge. It was the only place he knew she would be, her everyday route to home. He was feeling rather positive, hope blossoming in his heart at the prospect of setting things right with her. She seemed like a nice girl.

The bubbly feeling died, however, his small smile falling as a look of complete horror took over his eyes. The bag slipped out of his grip as his feet moved instinctively on their own without a second thought when he saw her.

Her dark hair fluttered in the gentle breeze, her thick coat flapping around her hips. Her face was devoid of emotions as she looked into the distance, a wide expanse of dark water right below her. She looked down at her feet planted on the railing and Hoseok damn near fainted when she lifted one of her feet in the air and off the railing as if to jump off.

A/N:
It's been definitely more than 15 days since I last updated, so here it is. Finally!!

What do you think is going to happen? Is Migyung really trying to jump off the bridge or is Hoseok just overreacting again?

Lemme know what you think about this chapter.

Thank you for reading 💜💜

P.S.
If you didn't notice, this chapter is a continuation of Chapter 4 of The Beautiful Accident.
