“We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.”
– Sam Keen, To Love and Be Loved
Yoongi was the first one to notice the change in Hoseok beside Namjoon. In fact, he and Seokjin realised almost at the same time that he had someone in his life but chose not to say anything.
But now, everyone knew. Courtesy of the woman who left her mark on him that the makeup artist wasn't too happy covering up. The boys all ganged up as soon as they were alone and over a few drinks, Hoseok was spilling out all the details of his hot romance.
"She's pretty," Jungkook said now, handing Hoseok his phone back. "She looks at you like you are the most precious person in the world. I'm jealous."
Hoseok chuckled seeing him pout. He was still so young, full of energy, full of life and dreams. He loved that about Jungkook despite his shy nature, he was adventurous. He couldn't say the same about himself.
"You'll find someone soon. You just need to look around."
"Not in the company," he retorted with fake horror making everyone laugh.
"Have you told her what to expect when the news gets out?" Seokjin asked being the voice of everyone's concern.
His already grim smile completely fell. "Yeah, she knows. She has been following the news about Yoongi closely."
There was a collective nod among the men before the next question popped up. "Are you ready for what might come?" Jimin asked, knowing full well the media would chew his brother alive for being involved with a woman like Migyung.
Hoseok sighed, covering his mouth with his hand as he yawned. "Yes, I do think I'm ready but I'd appreciate it if it doesn't get out. She doesn't need the drama right now."
"If only things always worked our way," Taehyung reminds everyone in a soft voice. Another round of nods later, the men start retreating to their rooms to prepare for the next day.
Hoseok is almost in bed when his phone vibrates, notifying him of an incoming call. He suddenly smiles when he sees who's calling.
"Baby!" he sings, receiving a melodious giggle in return.
"You are drunk, aren't you?"
"Nope. I'm just happy you called. I'm always happy when you call."
Migyung laughed, turning on her side as she gazed at the space beside her. "I never realised how big my bed is."
Lying down, he turned on his side as well and looked at the empty space. "Yeah, my bed is cold too. I wish you were here."
She smiled wider hearing the sleepiness in his voice and decided to let him rest. "It's okay now that I have talked to you. Go to sleep, baby. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Mhmm," he said, his eyes closing. "Good night, Migyung. Love you."
Heat rose to her cheeks hearing him say those words. He was far more vocal about his feelings than she was but it didn't lessen the warmth that spread through her body every time he declared his love for her in every way possible.
She couldn't wait for the morning to come.
Hoseok had driven as fast as he could after finishing his schedule. It had been less than twenty-four hours since he last met her and yet she pulled him by his heartstrings. They had been messaging back and forth the whole day, a simple 'miss you' being thrown every other text.
Love, it was a crazy thing.
He had been scared to admit it for a while. Scared that she'll find him overbearing because he knew himself and he knew he could behave like a possessed man. But turned out she matched him in every way possible.
From the way she couldn't keep her hands to herself to how they fit when they embraced. From the way she splayed him open to how she confided in him.
Love. He was in love with a gem. Shiny, pretty but real.
He let himself into her apartment quietly. She had given him the passcode a long time ago and he hoped she was home because he couldn't go another moment without seeing her.
Toeing his shoes off, he padded through the small living room and pushed the curtain she had recently placed between the living room and the kitchen. He found her there, sitting on a chair, her laptop open.
Hair piled up messily as always, she was engrossed in whatever she was doing. Something simmered on the stove, the aroma mixing in with the cherry-flavoured cigarette Migyung favoured. It tickled his senses, creating a combination that he had long ago started associating with her.
He continued watching her for a few more minutes, enchanted by the way her expressions changed as she noted something down in her notebook. The frown and the little pout of her lips were all too tempting to wash away with his kisses but he found pleasure in just observing her.
Even if her life depended on it, she could never hide the fact that she was a dancer. Her movements were so delicate but sure. The way her wrists moved and her fingers bent, it was like watching her dance even though she wasn't. There was a charm to her that she couldn't hide no matter what but in the last few months, she had stopped hiding and he was grateful she did.
"Oh!" she exclaimed suddenly, pulling him out of his mind and focusing on her delighted face. "How long have you been watching me?"
Smiling, he walked towards her till he could cup her face in both of his hands. Bending down, his lips met hers in a sweet, soft kiss. Her lips were firm and her hands tugged him down more to press him more closer.
It was addicting, the way she made him feel. She touched him as if he was made of glass, easily breakable, delicate and yet her passion never ceased. She was fierce in the way she kissed, the way she got on her feet to press her body flush against his.
It made him feel powerful. Important. Loved.
Gasping, they both pulled away, her attention snagged immediately by the stew. She was out of his hold and on the other side of the counter in a blink to shut the stove off. He didn't let his eyes stray from her even for a moment as she returned to his arms.
"I hope you are hungry. I made a lot of stew," she said, her fingers interlocking behind his back as she looked up at him.
Smiling he kissed her forehead, nuzzling into her hair that filled his senses with the scent of cherries. "I'll be hungry for food in a while, for now, I just need you."
The giggle that tumbled out of her lips had him laughing as he sat down on the stool she was sitting on a few moments ago. He pulled her close, making her sit on his lap, her back against his chest. Resting his chin on her shoulder he looked at the display of the laptop and was surprised.
"You are looking for dance studios?" he asked, looking at her bashful face from the corner of his eye.
"Yeah, well. It's just an idea I had..." she started, clicking on one of the pictures. He knew more was coming, so he patiently waited for her to speak.
"I'm thinking of starting my own classes. Not like a bulk one, I don't think I can handle the crowd. Maybe give private lessons for a lesser fee than the rest to those who are worthy of it. Like I did for Yeonseo. What do you think?"
He thought it was a brilliant idea to be honest but he was a little sceptical. "Are you sure it's not too soon?" he asked, hence.
Her shoulders sagged and she closed the laptop before getting up and turning around to look at him. Her face was solemn and it made him pull her close to stand between his legs, her arms naturally falling around his neck.
"It is. I don't think I can do it just yet but I'm thinking far into the future. I mean, the cost of these studios is only going to increase in the future. I'm just considering it as an investment. Am I overthinking it?"
The little frown between her eyebrows was endearing and an instantaneous serotonin boost. He caught one of her hands and brought it to his lips to place a kiss on her knuckles.
"No, you are not overthinking but I'd rather you focus on the present than the future right now. I want you to live in the present. With me, with your family, right here."
Laughter came easier to her these days he had noticed and it warmed his heart to know he was the reason for it.
"Say, Hoseok, what do you think about meeting my parents? My mom especially would love to meet you," she asked with a smirk as his eyebrows went for his hairline.
"Meet your parents? Are you sure?" he asked, perplexed and she just nodded.
Meeting her parents was serious, at least for him. Mostly because he hadn't dated in a while. But that also meant she wouldn't mind meeting his parents and that would just establish her place in his life even more concretely.
He didn't dislike the idea at all.
"Alright," he said confidently, making her beam. "But you can't back out when it's your turn."
Giggling, she kissed him. "I won't, I promise."
Smiling, he pulled her close again to kiss her properly, mumbling declarations of love in between kisses.
They had to break apart however when the doorbell rang. With a promising sweet kiss, Migyung walked to the front door, her lips stretched wide as she opened it but it fell as soon as she saw the person standing outside.
"Hi, can I come in?" Mijung asked with an awkward smile.
