Chapter 32.
I walked along the road making my way to a small park. I walked passed the playground and sat on a swing. I noticed nobody around. It was as if everyone on earth disappeared.
I reached for a cigarette in my bag and pulled out the necklace Richard got me yesterday. I sighed putting it back in my bag. The sky was still covered in dark clouds. For being Texas, it sure rains a lot.
I got up and walked through an open field. It was quiet as the cold air ran through my hair. I felt my stomach grumble. Not now.
I pulled out my watch. It was almost noon. I didn't want to go back just yet. Maybe I'll wait it out until six thirty when they leave.
I was walking along the sidewalk when I heard a voice. I ignored it and kept walking. It got louder as I turned to see a familiar face.
"David?"
"Hey Rosy! Long time no see yeah?" He smiled.
"John and the rest are going to see you guys play later on." I said sitting on a bench.
"You coming to?"
I shook my head. "Uh..no. I mean I would but I'm not feeling to well."
He nodded. "Alright. I understand. Where's the husband? Divorced already?" He laughed. I glared at him and he stopped.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to.."
"No David i'm sorry we just...we had an arguement just now. I just needed to get away."
"Oh. I'm sorry. What about if I may ask?"
I looked at him. "You."
He blinked. "Me? Why?"
I laughed looking down at my feet. "I think he's jealous of you. Everytime we run into you, he gets really overprotective and always has to steer me away."
He smiled a little. I looked at him.
"Well don't get cocky about it." I said nudging him.
"I'm sorry I just never had anyone tell me that before. Look I know you're taken. So am I. I mean my girlfriend is back home in New York. But I would never go off out on her. I love her."
"If only Richard would listen to you. Or me. Or anyone." I muttered.
"If he saw us now, what do you think he'd do?"
"He'd probably assume we were having an affair." I rolled my eyes.
"He loves you. It's just part of who he is. I mean, if I were you, I'd be happy to have a jealous husband. If he didn't care, then you'd have something to really worry about."
I nodded. "What are you like a marriage counsler or some sort?" I smiled.
"No. Why am I good? If this band thing doesn't work out, then maybe i'll give that a shot." He laughed.
"Ha Ha." I smiled. "Shouldn't you be off practicing or something?" I said grabbing a cigarette from my bag.
"Yes. I just came out for a smoke. Which you greatly distracted me from."
"It's not my fault you came by being mister know it all."
"Yeah? Well you should thank me! I'm a hero if anything."
I giggled and looked at him. He smiled and took my cigarette.
"You owe me." He said lighting it and taking a drag.
"You suck." I said turning his face away from me. He made a funny face and stood up.
"I better go or the guys will be all up my ass about being late."
"Literally or metaphorically?" I smirked.
"Both." He winked and handed back my cigarette.
"So I'll see you..."
"Maybe I'll see you tonight?" He asked sounding hopeful.
I shook my head. "I'm afriad not."
He nodded. "Well then, can I get a hug?"
I smiled. "Alright."
He leaned in and hugged me tight. We pulled back and looked at eachother.
"Whelp. See ya sometime then." He said walking away. I watched him leave as I was left alone again. I stood up and made my way back onto the sidewalk and began walking when it began to rain. I groaned.
"Come fucking on!"
I was drenched when I got back to the motel. I opened the door to find it empty. The bus was gone and so were the guys. Their shit was still here though. I undressed and put some dry clothes on.
......
Three hours passed and they were still gone. I sighed turning the tv off. I felt myself get dizzy again. I ran to the restroom and puked in the toilet. I felt a little better. Once finished, I brushed my teeth. I felt sleepy as Iaid back on the bed.
"All the leaves are brown...and the sky is gray...I've been for a walk, on a winters day..." I slid my hand over my stomach. I miss Richard. I hate his guts right now but, I'd rather be snuggling with him under the covers pissed off than laying in bed on my own not knowing where he is.
"I'd be safe and warm, if I was in L.A. California dreaming...on a winters day." I sang softly as I drifted off to sleep.
........
"She's sleeping, don't wake her."
"I need to talk to her Paul. I feel terrible."
"Well it is your fault she went off and left."
"Don't you think I know that? I needed to know where she was."
"I can't believe we wasted five hours looking for her."
"Fuck off Paul. Just go with the others alright? I'm staying."
"Are you sure that's a good idea?"
"I need to make sure she's alright."
"Fine. If you do decide to come, you know where we'll be."
I heard the door open then close. I heard Richard sigh and walk to the restroom, closing the door behind him. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. It was six fifteen in the evening.
Richard came out without his jeans and shirt on. He froze when he saw me.
"Rosy." He walked over to me and sat down.
"Don't say anything."
"I need to tell you I'm sor..."
I pressed my lips against his. He froze but kissed back slowly. Pulling back, I lifted my shirt off and put his hands over my breasts.
"Make love to me Richard."
He smiled and laid me back on the bed, making his way on top.
.......
Three hours later, me and Richard were eating ravioli while watching tv.
"Guess what you two! Drive in, two days from now. Giant shark!" Geo said sitting on the bed.
"What?" Richard laughed.
"Theres a film about a huge killer shark. I want to see it."
"Alright Georgie, we'll take you to see it."
He smiled. "Thanks Rosy."
Richard looked at me.
"Rosy he watches enough films as it is."
"But look at him. He's so excited."
"If you keep giving him what he wants all the time, he's just going to turn into a brat."
"Hey." George pouted.
"Leave him alone Richard. It's been awhile since he's been to a drive in. Plus it's just this once."
He sighed. "Fine. But if he keeps wanting more, it's your fault."
"I'm willing to take the risk." I said smiling.
We finished eating.
"Where's Paul and John?" Richard asked throwing wrappers and containers away.
"They're outside talking to David."
"He's here?" Richard asked sighing. I bit my lip as George nodded.
"He asked how you were doing Rosy. Ya know..since earlier."
"Earlier??" Richard said crossing his arms.
"Uh yeah. I was at the park when I left. I bumped into him and we were talking."
"I see."
"Richard don't be upset. It just happened by coincidence."
"It's fine. I just wasted half of my day worried and looking for you when you were off with some other bloke in the park."
I rolled my eyes. "Fucking hell Richard it's not like i'm having an affair with him."
It was starting all over again. George slipped out the door and left me and Richard alone.
"Maybe ye are?? Who knows! Every time you two are together, you always act like a flirting whore."
"You know what Richard? It was a mistake to come back here. I should have left when I had the chance!"
"Then why didn't you?? Just run off with David and start a life with him!"
"Theres nothing going on! Fine! You want me gone so much then you won't see me anymore! Just go out and get shit faced for all I care! Maybe you'll meet another girl and get married with her?! It surely hasn't stopped you before!" I pushed him aside and grabbed my bag filling it with my things.
He grabbed my arm and pushed me against the wall.
"You're not going anywhere."
"Or what Richard?" I said pushing him away. I grabbed my things and stormed out the door.
"Hey Rosy where...."
"Fuck off George!" I said walking down the steps like before. Luckily this time, I brought a coat.
