Katniss' P.O.V
Katniss wrapped her arms around her knees, hugging them. A bead of sweat trickled down her forehead as she stared at the guards dressed in white. Even the guns that they were holding were white in colour. Everything about the facility spoke of clean and brutal perfection. She was getting used to the throbbing pain in my head. It occurred every time she was knocked out cold. But, this time it was different. Her head throbbed yet it also felt heavy and slightly fuzzy. She could hear this buzzing noise which she thought was a bug but it was coming from inside her head. Her arms were also sore so were her thighs. There was probably something in that liquid they injected into her. In front of Katniss was a large mirror. She stared into her reflection. Her skin was turning pale. The red colour of blood from her cheeks was long gone. Wrinkles under her eyes and she were just 17 years old. Suddenly, she started shivering. No, not the shivering out of the cold. She knew what was happening. Katniss O'Brien was dying. The abnormal skin cells in her body were slowly multiplying. She thought of her parents and worried they will be. The first time they let their precious daughter go to a party, she gets kidnapped. Katniss thought about Dylan and Victoria and how to came to rescue her but getting captivated instead. They were stupid to come here without police backup.
Katniss heard some shuffling behind her. She turned around to see the door behind her open. A woman looking as old as her mother was pushed into the room. The poor woman looked injured as she hissed in pain when she was thrown to the floor. The door closed behind her. She got up to help the woman, hoping that the guards wouldn't stop her. The woman turned around to reveal none other than Mrs Mathews, Dylan's mother. Katniss jumped back in surprise.
"Mrs Mathews?!" She exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, honey. Katniss right?" She nodded. The woman tried to sit comfortably. Katniss helped her.
"Why did they abduct you," Katniss said, trying to put two and two together. Mrs Mathews answered her in a quiet voice. "My ex-husband is the reason why I'm here," she said.
"According to our papers, I am still your lawfully wedded husband." A man, whom Katniss recognised as the man who kidnapped her, entered the room. Katniss arched her eyebrows. Husband? Dylan's father? She thought to herself.
"The world thinks I'm dead. Thus, you can not get a divorce as long as you live, which I can assure you that it won't be long." Katniss saw Dylan's mother gulp nervously but she didn't dare to utter a single word. Katniss decided to speak up.
"When are we going to get out of here? Are you planning on keeping us here forever?" Katniss said, moving a little closer to Dylan's mother.
"The boss will decide."
Dylan's mother took a deep breath before starting, "Why are you doing this, Christopher?" He laughed. A loud and evil laugh. Sort of like the villains do in movies. But, the difference here was that this wasn't a movie. This was reality and this laugh was real.
"Power is a dominant factor in our society. Here I have more power, more wealth, freedom to do anything I wish to do. Humans are at their weakest point. But, it is I who will help them grow strong."
Katniss stared at the man named Christopher, confusingly. "Strong? How?" He smirked, signalling towards the door.
The door slid open as a huge robot entered. Katniss squinted her eyes to get a better look at the robot. The robot looked so real, just like a real human being. But the lack of emotions proved that it was a robot.
"He is just like you or should I say that he was. The quantimanium in his body is what we used to make him. He can do anything. Lift objects from an ant to an aeroplane and even buildings. It has laser powers and it can fly. It is the next biggest thing that the world will ever see. It will solve all sorts of crime. Who needs the police when we have these men to protect us." Christopher said.
"After curing the boss, we will create many of these robots. They will give us power and protection against all enemies and factors threatening to end our upcoming dominance. This is our first subject and I'm proud to say that he was successful."
"Why are you telling us all this? What if we tell the police?" Katniss asked. Christopher chuckled as if mocking Katniss at her oblivion.
"Oh darling. You need to be alive to tell the police. The only place your body will go, once it is out of this facility, is to the morgue." Katniss shuddered, imagining the thought of these evil people throwing her dead body into the dumpster.
"Your blood and my son's blood will be enough for our mission." At the mention of Dylan, Mrs Mathews's blood boiled as she stood up, abruptly.
"Don't you dare put a hand on my son or Katniss. You will not succeed. NEVER!" Katniss tried to signal Mrs Mathews to calmly sit down before things got worse.
"Your son is already tied up in one of the rooms." Katniss gagged at the thought of a father putting his son in the face of danger.
Mrs Mathews looked at Katniss as if asking if he was telling the truth. Katniss nodded. She saw some tears escape Mrs Mathews eyes as she sat down on the floor, weeping.
Christopher put his fingers to his Bluetooth, attentively listening to the caller. He nodded then left the room but not before sending a salute towards Katniss and Dylan's mother.
Katniss looked over at Dylan's mother who was still weeping, occasionally calling out the names of both of her sons between her hiccups. Katniss went closer to her and hugged her, assuring her that everything will be fine when the truth was out in the open. Everything was not going to be fine.

Dylan's P.O.V
Dylan woke up to find his hands tied to a chair. He blinked a few times, trying to clear his vision. All the memories came rushing back in a few minutes. The rescue mission, the shooting and then...Victoria?
He turned around, his eyes searching for Victoria. In the corner, he saw Victoria sitting. Her hands were also tied to a pole as she looked here and there.
"Dylan? Is that you?" Victoria asked, blinking a few times. Dylan nodded. Grunting, Victoria asked where Katniss was.
"I don't know. I just got up." Victoria nodded. For the first time, Dylan felt a peculiar pain in his head. He shook his head, trying to shake away the pain. He felt an itch. Something he couldn't explain. As a matter of fact, he had been feeling that itch for a few days but it became a bit more prominent now.
"What's wrong?" Victoria asked, seeing Dylan feeling uncomfortable. Dylan tried scratching his head but failing because his hands were tied.
"My head. It's throbbing." He said, groaning in annoyance. Victoria shrugged. "Funny, because I don't feel so bad. Just a slight headache."
"I don't know it's like something was activated in my brain."
"Oww." Dylan screamed in pain. Victoria tried to get up to see what was happening to Dylan. Dylan grunted again, shaking his head constantly.
"That voice. Where is that voice coming from?" Victoria stared at him, confusingly. "What voice?" she asked.
"It's in my hea...Katniss?" Dylan stopped as he took Katniss' name. "Where is Katniss?" Victoria asked, feeling impatient.
"In my head."
"Huh? What?"
Dylan smiled. "I can hear Katniss. I can hear her thoughts." Victoria sighed desperately. "What the hell is going on, Dylan. You're totally losing it right now." She said, exasperatedly.
"I don't know yet but I can hear Katniss' voice in my head. It's like she is singing to herself."
"What about your head. Is it still hurting?" Dylan shook his head.
"Surprisingly, it suddenly stopped." Victoria nodded. "Do you still hear Katniss?" Dylan shook his head. "No."
"Wait, I hear her again. It's a little fuzzy but I hear her." Victoria stared at him dumbfounded as he smiled, an idea popping in his mind.
"Let me try something."

Katniss' P.O.V
Katniss was trying to figure out what to say to Dylan's mother to calm her down. She was hysterically crying. The guards had now left and were guarding the doors from the outside. They had left after dropping by another lady almost as old as her mom. She was sitting in the corner, not saying a single word. Katniss tried talking to her but she didn't reply so Katniss gave up. Mrs Mathews voice interrupted her from her thoughts.
"My daughter died this way." Katniss confusingly stared at her. She didn't know that Dylan had a sister.
"Her name was Jennifer. She had XP too and she had Quantiminium in her blood too. She was one of the unfortunate." Katniss nodded, asking her to go on.
"She was kidnapped by this organisation, HIVE. The police investigated but they later said that she had died. A few years later, Jennifer came back She escaped the HIVE. She stayed hidden at our house. She told us everything that went out there and why they needed her. But, she wasn't safe at our house because a HIVE agent was at our house and we were oblivious to the fact that my husband and Jennifer's birth father was the one betraying us. Jennifer found out and confronted him. She pushed him off the roof of our building but he grabbed her leg. Jennifer died but my husband escaped with a few injuries."
Katniss listened to her quietly, taking in everything she had been told. It was a lot of information to digest in just one day.
"We later found out that Dylan had Quantimanium in his blood too. We have been on the run since then." Katniss wiped the tears that had escaped. She just felt sorry for this family. Being betrayed by your own father and running. It was impossible. She had thought that she had it hard but this family had it a lot harder than I did.
She stayed quiet. Didn't say a single thing. What was she supposed to say? No amount of words could make Mrs Mathews feel better. After everything she had been through...it was just impossible to forget and move on.
Katniss stared at the wall as Mrs Mathews sobbing quieted down, resulting in quiet hiccups. She was in deep thought when she felt something in her head. A voice deep inside. Calling from afar. The voice belonged to a boy. She couldn't recognise where it was coming from and why she could hear it in her head.
"Do you hear that?" She asked Dylan's mom. Mrs Mathews furrowed before shaking her head. The voice became louder and louder as she recognised who it belonged to.
"DYLAN!" She exclaimed. Mrs Mathews looked around, confused as to why Katniss was screaming his name when he was nowhere to be seen. Even the lady in the corner looked towards her.
"Why are you screaming his name? Where is he?" Katniss shook her head pointing towards it. "I can hear Dylan's voice inside my head. he is asking if I can hear him."
Mrs Mathews stared at her.
"I can hear you," Katniss said. Mrs Mathews kept staring, waiting for her to explain what was going on.
"I can hear Dylan's voice in my head. He is still asking me if I can hear him. I guess he can't hear me back." Katniss said.
"Try thinking." The woman in the corner spoke up.
"Huh?" The woman got up and sat next to Katniss.
"Try thinking and imagining that you are telling Dylan that you can hear him." The woman explained. Katniss did as she was told. She tried thinking of the words, "I can hear you," and imagined saying them to Dylan. After a few tries, she heard a reply.
"It's working. Great." Dylan replied. His voice sounded clearer and louder. Katniss nodded at the woman.
"Is Dylan okay? Is he hurt? How is this happening? Why is this happening." Dylan's mom bombarded Katniss with questions.
"It's called telekinesis and telepathy. You can basically use your mind to do things and talk to other beings who have the same ability. Looks like my serum works now." The woman explained.
"Serum?" Katniss asked. The woman didn't get a chance to reply when the doors flew open. A few guards walked in with white guns in their hands. They roughly picked up Katniss and the two woman and pulled them towards the door without a single word.
"Where are you taking us?"
"What's going on?"
"Ow, my arm."
The three kept talking and asking questions but the guards didn't reply as they dragged them across the hallway. At the end of the hallway, they stopped in front of a door. The door opened to reveal Dylan and Victoria tied to a chair. The guards threw Katniss, Mrs Mathews and the woman inside roughly as the three ladies fell to the ground. They, then, walked over to Dylan and Victoria and untied their wrists. The guards left, closing the door behind them.
The mother and son hugged each other as Dylan's mother kept asking him if he was hurt. The woman went and sat in a corner while Katniss hugged Victoria. Then, Katniss walked over to Dylan and Victoria and Dylan's mother met.
"That was pretty cool right?" Dylan asked. Katniss slightly laughed before hugging him.
"I'm glad you're okay." She said before letting go. He smiled at her. The four of them came together and went towards the woman.
"Who are you and what serum were you talking about?" Katniss asked as they all waited for an answer.
"I am sure you've met Flinn." Katniss nodded.
"Well, I'm Danielle Garrett. Flinn's wife," the woman said as Katniss let out a gasp.
