Chapter 7

*Gage’s POV*

I was running through the corridors at school, I had to get away from her, I know this was pretty immature, I should have talked to her about it, but I had heard some bad things about her. Then all of a sudden there was a wolf right in front of me. I came to a stop, then the wolf shimmered and then Adrian was there. “Gage let me explain. I will never hurt you; I have never hurt anybody before. I just want to be friends.” She looked frantically at me, her gold and black eyes staring deeply into mine, I could practically feel her worry, and the betrayal she had felt from her parents trying to turn her in. That was very surprising to me; I mean who turns their daughter for money? “Hey Adrian, it’s okay I know you won’t hurt me, but I can’t believe your parents turned you in for money. I would never do that to you.” Her expression immediately turned to one of relief. “Okay I’m glad you know I wouldn’t hurt you. Yes my parents did that, and that is why I live with my aunt, I ran away just yesterday. I am so glad my aunt loves me enough to not turn me in. Unlike my parents who are greedy. I mean I know I was a mistake but that gave them no right.” I pulled her in for a hug, then I felt a jolt, both of us jumped apart, I looked at her and she looked back at me. “Did you feel that?” I asked, she nodded, “Do you know what that means?” She nodded again, “We’re mates.” She said, I nodded in agreement, then she said something that crushed me. “We can’t be together, I have people who want to have my head and I bet that they would take yours too. I can’t put you in-danger like that.” I shook my head, “That doesn’t matter, I will always protect you. No matter what. Okay?” She nodded, and I pulled her into a hug, wishing we could stay like that forever.

*Adrian’s POV*

It has been three weeks, and school was going good, I had friends, like Gage, Maggie, Connor, and Freddie. They were great, especially Maggie, nobody but Gage knew about my powers, but I was getting close to telling the rest of them. That definitely surprised me, I never thought in all of my life that I would think of telling almost strangers my secret. “So Adrian, do you want to come to the party I’m hosting tonight? It will definitely be a blast!” I turned around to see Brett standing behind me, yes Brett still thought we had a chance. I listened into his thoughts, ‘Damn, this girl is super fine, but to bad I’m just going to bang her, and leave her.’ “God Brett, can’t you get a clue? I don’t like you and I never will. So get the hell away from me and never talk to me again unless I want you to.” He seemed surprised, but I just closed my locker and walked out to where Gage was waiting for me to get into the car. He gave me a ride to and from school, since I wouldn’t mate with him; he still wanted to be close. So I let him drive me to and from school. He smiled when he saw me, I smiled back, God sometimes it was so easy to fall in love with him. I jumped into the car, “Hey beautiful.” I smiled, “Hey hottie. So are we going to your house or mine this time to study?”

“How about yours, my parents are holding a meeting with the elders in my pack, trying to let you join the pack.” I smiled hugely, “Oh My God! They are trying to let me into the pack? I can’t believe it!” He smiled, then leaned over and pecked my lips. The zings were back, they shot through my lips and into my face, he smiled but looked back to the road. We got to my house, and I saw Tanya outside playing with Merin who happened to be her mate. Yes my little cousin had already found her mate, I smiled at them, Tanya smiled back but Merin looked at Gage with hatred. “What is with you and Merin?” He looked uncomfortable with the subject, “Well you see, his brother and I don’t really get along. He is a stoner, and he always gets in fights. One time he tried to fight me and I didn’t fight back. He has hated me since then. I guess he said some lies to his brother to make him look cool.” Well that makes sense. Whatever let’s go inside and start studying.” He groaned, but let me lead him up the stairs to our house to do our study session.
