A Wolf's Little Morsel (ZellyxBrett)

This was an RP done a while ago with Crystalk17 and her OC is Brett and mine is Zelly. You can find Brett  in her OC book and Zelly in mine.

ENJOY!!!

Bret was wandering through the woods. It has been days since he or his pack has found any source of food. At this point, he was looking for anything even if small to get some type of nourishment. He told his pack to gather anything possible and meet back up. Out of all of them, he was the most likely to "Save the day". He ran after a scent he hasn't quite smelled before.

Zelly sat in the massive woods, enjoying the shade of the giant tree and the little book in her lap. Strands of her long dark hair that poked from her hoodie swayed gently in the cool wind. Her black eyes were focused on her book, and her hoodie and jeans and boots protected her fair skin from the cool autumn air. Bret approached closer to find out the scent he picked up wasn't a trick. He hasn't seen one in... well years. Especially in the parts of the woods but it was exactly what he was looking for. She was small, convenient, alone, and best of all just here. He crouched low to the ground like a cat would trying to sneak up on the creature. He noticed she was so indulged in her book, she probably didn't even notice him. So, he lunged out pinning her down with one paw, causing her book to fly out of her hands. The pure black creature loomed over her with a growl to express he won and just submit. Zelly screamed when she was harshly pinned to the ground all of a sudden. She froze when her dark eyes met bright yellow eyes of the giant werewolf. She wiggled trying to get free.

"N-nice puppy" she whimpered. Bret snapped his jaws at her, not actually biting her. He applied more pressure so she couldn't move. He growled a bit more. His yellow eyes were glaring down at her. His ears were pinned back. In his mind, he didn't care, but she seemed so polite and gentle. Did she really deserve this?

"Ah! Please, you're hurting me!" Zelly cried, struggling to breath now. She wiggled her left arm free and tried to push the paw off of her, failing miserably. He watched the small creature struggle under the pressure. He growled more, but it was more at himself. She seemed pathetic. He transformed, still having the paw that was now a hand over her body. He had pointed ears and still yellow eyes, with sharp canine teeth.

"Why do you try? You know it's futile. And this is how it is. Eat or be eaten," he said to her. Zelly blinked rapidly in surprise and fear. A shifter?! Aren't they near extinction? Zelly shook her head and met his eyes.

"I-I... I'm not sure... I just... I just don't want to die yet," Zelly whispered, afraid to say more. She felt tears building up in her eyes. She mentally hit herself; she hated crying. Her pale face always became red and blotchy. Was she going to die like this? A young 14-year-old dead at the hands of a shifter? Tears began to fall as small sobbing sounds escaped her. Bret coils honestly just beat himself up right now. She looked young, defenseless, and just like him didn't want to die. Fine, he wouldn't eat her, but he had other plans. He moved his hand off of her but didn't give her time to run. He picked her up by her clothing just glaring at her.

"Why exactly are you here? God, you're smaller then I remember," Bret muttered.

"Smaller? You calling me short?! I'm 14!" Zelly cried in kind of a snarky tone. She quickly covered her mouth with both her hands eyes wide, realizing she just snapped at a being who could kill her laughably easily.

"Well, where did that attitude come from? That's not how you were a second ago." he was rather impressed someone this small could hold her own...well attempt to hold her own. "And yes small. Humans are tiny if I remember correctly. And you are smaller than that." he turned her around in front of his face trying to get a good look at her. Zelly flinched as she was brought to his face.

"I'm 14, and for humans, that's still technically means I'm a child," Zelly answered, looking down and instantly regretting it. "Ah! A-and I'm here b-because I-I like to r-read out here! It's an excuse t-to leave the foster home!" Zelly cried, now just as scared of the height as she was of Bret. Brett sighed. He placed her in his hand, and started to walk back to the pack.

"You need to think through things kid. This right here is how you get yourself killed." he noticed her shaking so he rolled his eyes but scratched at her side. "Just calm down." Zelly yelped when he scratched her but, it sounded more like a poorly disguised laugh more than a yelp. Then Zelly noticed something.

"W-wait! My book!" she cried, not moving around on his palm but pointing back from where they were walking from. Wait, was he kidnapping her?! What was he going to do to her? Bret walked back looking around for the don't book. He noticed it facing down. He tried his best to grab it with two claws. He dropped it into his hand. He then walked back towards his pack like he promised. He wasn't sure how to get out of this. If he showed up without her how was he going to explain the scent? Zelly noticed his face as she grabbed her book.

"Are y-you okay? And what's g-gonna happen to me now?" she asked, afraid of the answer. When Bret said "get yourself killed" that didn't exactly send the nicest message. Bret didn't want to quite answer her right now. He wasn't sure what would happen. He walked further into the woods. He got closer to a clearing and inside were other creatures that looked like him with a few already looking like wolves. He paused looking down at her then continued. This would not go well. Zelly carefully stood up and looked over his fingers. Her eyes widened when she saw the pack. She slowly sat back down and pulled her hood over her head and face. She tucked her legs to her chest and hung her head in her hands. She started to tremble and quiet sounds of crying escaped her, and this time she didn't bother to hold it back and just cried quietly.

"This is it! This is how I die," she thought, small hiccups erupting from her crying state, which quickly escalated to fearful but sit quiet sobbing. Bret placed her on his shoulder. He couldn't help but feel a bit bad. He walked over and a male with blond hair walked up.

"Finally, you made it back. Any luck? We had no luck what so ever." he noticed the human on Brett's shoulder. "So, you were lucky." he reached for her. Zelly screamed when she saw the blonde guy reach for her and quickly but carefully crawled into the nook of Bret's neck, hiding in his hood best she could.

"G-go away!" she cried. Granted she didn't feel safe with Bret anymore then she felt safe with the blonde guy taking her, but at least he spared her the first time they met, maybe he would do it again? The very thought seemed extremely unlikely, but she didn't have a lot of options. She quickly pulled the heavy material that made up Bret's hood over her head, covering herself completely. All that could be seen was a little trembling bump by Bret's neck. Bret was a bit surprised by the tiny's actions. Why run towards him of all people? He grabbed the blonde's hand. "Just wait alright."

The blond removed his arm from his grasp. "You are not keeping the food to yourself. How could a pack leader show such a bad example." he tried once more but Bret growled at the pack member.

"Just back off. This is my morsel. I will do with it as I please." he pushed past the blond one. Once they were out of eyeshot he reached over stroking the lump. Zelly flinched at the touch and slowly poked her head out, seeing Bret softly petting her. She didn't know exactly what to think, but at least he didn't let the blondie take her. Bret saw she wasn't coming out. It may be best if she didn't anyway. He walked over to the second in command a close personal friend of his. He pulled him aside.

"Look I have a bit of a problem." his friend looked at the lump. "I need you to announce we didn't find anything."

"But what about that?" he asked poking at her.

"Look. I can't. She... She's a pet...yea I know don't give me that look. We are all starving including her. I have to go back to my home."

"Fine I'll cover for you." the beta said. Both knew he couldn't go straight home or there would have been questions. Now his beta could announce what happened. Bret walked back towards his home.

"Morsel?! Pet?! Starving?!?" Zelly screamed in her head. What did all those words mean?! Zelly pulled the heavy material tighter on her head and began to cry again, this time not even trying to keep the sobbing sounds quiet. Her body shook as grossing sobbing escaped her. Bret could feel her cuddle closer to him, but from her crying, he could tell it was probably more for the cloth than him. He moved her out of the cloth setting her on the ground. He transformed back to a wolf and he picked her up by her clothing. He knew this was faster than walking back to get her away from others. Zelly tried to run when he'd set her down, but that was quickly taken away when he bit the back of her hoodie and began to run with her. She screamed as Bret jumped over bushes and made sharp turns.

"L-let me go!!" she shouted/sobbed. She then got a dangerous idea. She carefully but quickly pulled her head into her hoodie and looked down, trying to time it right. She quickly pulled her arms in and fell out of her hood, now in a dark blue long-sleeved shirt, dark jeans, and brown boots. She crashed to the forest floor, dislocating her right arm in the process. She tried to stand but fell over, as she had twisted her ankle too. Zelly wiped away tears and began to limp away as best she could. Bret didn't notice at first when she slipped out. He continued to run. He noticed the clothing was lighter so he looked down with his eyes. She was gone. He dropped her sweatshirt and growled in frustration. He ran backtracking her by the scent. He came across her eventually limping along. He rolled his eyes grabbing her once more by her clothing. Walking back instead of running.

"H-hey! P-put me down!" Zelly cried wiggling a little, holding her arm, and trying to keep her ankle from moving. Her body felt bruised. Bret didn't answer. He really couldn't. He walked towards his home nudging the door open. It swung open enough for him to enter. He walked over towards his couch and dropped her there. He growled at her to say stay there. He ran off to the other room transforming once more, grabbing a med kit, then walking back. Zelly froze when she saw him come back looking rather upset. She tried to scooch away, but her arm and foot were hurting too much. She winced and bit her tongue to keep from crying out.

"G-go aw-way!" she cried, well, tried to. Bret opened up the supplies and crouched down. He looked towards her. He wasn't sure how to express this, but he needed to do it.

"Look you're not going to like this." shifted to a wolf for a moment. He started to lick at her to the best of his ability. He was only doing this because shifters could help heal. So her wounds started to heal a bit, including her limbs. They wouldn't be completely fixed. There would still be pain and bruises, but this would help with everything else. He then turned human taking out the supplies like bandages. "Where is it hurt?" he bluntly asked.

Zelly yelped when the giant wolf had begun to lick her like a dog. She grimaced and tried to push him away with her good arm but, of course, she failed to do so. The now saliva covered 14-year-old cried out when she felt her shoulder and ankle repair themselves. They still hurt, but at least she could move them without the pain killing her. She looked up at Bret, confused and scared, but mostly confused. "H-hurt?" she asked timidly.

"Yeah tiny. Where does it hurt? You know." he showed the wraps. "Where do you need these?" he seemed irritated but didn't mean to come off as such.

"Oh... Uh, my left ankle and right shoulder? Please?" she asked. She wondered if she should take her boots off and began to untie them with her good arm and hand, trying to avoid eye contact. He got a bit impatient and started to wrap up her right shoulder at least. He did it as gently as he can but fumbled a few times dropping the wrap. He cutted it so the pieces can be tied.

"Alright turn around. And hurry up with your boot." he waited so he could tie together the wrapping. Zelly rapidly nodded, hearing his irritation. She carefully pulled it off, leaving her foot in a white sock and turned around, trying not to cry but she did start to tremble again. Bret tied the pieces together. He then reached around gently grabbing her leg. He lifted it up and started to wrap the wrap around it. He noticed her shaking because it was shaking in his hand.

"Ok look. Why are you shaking? Do you want to do this yourself?" he asked stopping his movement. Giving her a questioning look.

"N-no sir," Zelly shakily replied. She took a deep breath, trying to slow her trembling a little. He continued to tie her foot.

"There. All finished." he sat down looking at the tiny in awkwardness. "Look you shouldn't move for a time." He really wasn't sure what to do.

Zelly nodded. "Th-thanks sir... Oh, and uh... My name's Zelly," Zelly said, looking up at Bret and giving him a small, timid, but still scared, smile. Bret took a finger and brushed her side.

"Hey just calm down alright?" he removed his hand. "None of that sir crap. It's Bret." he decided to help her and him with the awkwardness he transformed. He jumped up on the couch, laying down. Zelly jerked away from Bret's finger when he brushed her side, not wanting him to find her weak/tickle spot. She did scream for a split second when the massive werewolf laid down on the couch, a few inches from her. She did stop though and made herself more comfortable.

"S-so... do you talk when you're a wolf?" she asked fear still faintly in her voice, but she was genuinely a little curious. The black wolf lifted up his head looking over at her. He got closer to her, wrapping his body around her protectively. He nudged her with his muzzle. Zelly tensed when Bret moved around. The two-inch tall girl shook the fur out of her face and noticed he had curled around her. When Bret nudged her, her first instinct was to pet him, but part of her went against the idea.

"Umm... d-do you want me t-to pet you?" she asked, hands close to her chest. He honestly didn't care if she pets him or not. He nudged her once more but closed his eyes to relax. Zelly slowly began to pet his nose, taking the nudging as a yes. She petted him for a minute, silently enjoying his soft fur. She relaxed completely, but still a little weary. She pulled her hand away and covered her yawn and shook her head, trying not to doze off. She started petting him again, trying to take her mind off sleep as she didn't feel safe enough to sleep yet. Bret wanted to sleep so badly, at least nap, but she was not sleeping yet. He licked at her once more as in a reassuring lick as a dog does. He wrapped her closer to himself, so he was surrounding her. He closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep himself. His breathing a deep yet steady almost sounding like a purring sensation, but of course not. He was not a cat after all. Zelly had fallen asleep after a few minutes, despite her best efforts not to. She laid on his side, slightly snoring and curled up into his fur.

Bret woke up from his nap a few hours later. The wolf lifted up his head seeing her asleep. He stood up jumping off the couch. He transformed into a human wandering over to the kitchen area. He had to find something. Anything for food. Zelly fell back and woke with a start when her head hit the couch. She groaned forgetting where she was and then remembered.

"Oh," she said to herself. She crawled to the edge of the couch and noticed a pillow directly beneath her. She let herself fall onto it, and surprisingly landed without hurting herself. She crawled off and slowly walked towards the sounds she heard from what she assumed was the kitchen, making sure to keep as much weight as possible off her hurt foot. She entered the kitchen and watched Bret. She coughed a little, making herself known.

"Did you lose something si- I mean Bret?" she asked, proud that her voice sounded somewhat strong and didn't shake. Bret turned around noticing the little girl. He walked over plucking her off the floor then placed her on the counter.

"I'm looking for anything to eat." he looked in the fridge finding a squirrel. "Here we go. I have to hunt after this though." he took out a knife to start preparing. Zelly watched, taking note of how small the squirrel was. Barely larger than a small pill to Bret.

"Has food been a problem for you guys lately," she asked, slightly hoping she didn't offend him. Brett looked over with a sigh.

"If you must know. Yes. In fact, I was out on a hunt when I found you. The area is just not plentiful right now." With how small it was he put the knife away and just flung the squirrel onto the stove to cook the meat better. Zelly felt her face pale as she remembered certain words from Brett's conversation with the other pack members. Morsel and pet stood out most to her during those conversations. She tucked her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around them.

"Were... were you g-going to..." she couldn't finish her sentence. Bret laid his head down on the counter in frustration.

"Do you want the truth?" he simply asked. Zelly slowly nodded and mentally prepared herself even though she already had a very good feeling of what he was going to tell her. She held herself tighter.

"At first yes. It's not uncommon for our kind to eat tinies. but I decided against it." He petted her side looking over at his food relaxing it was almost ready. Zelly flinched at her side being petted again and a squeak escaped her too. She did feel huge relief at not being food, but something else bothered her a little.

"S-so, what's going to happen to me now?" she asked, crossing her legs.

"Well honestly. You have to stay here. At least till you're completely healed. Once healed all the way then you may leave," he stated taking the squirrel out of the pot.

"Oh... okay then... ya know, when I walked to the tree you found me at, I passed by a herd of deer along my way. They were thin, but there was about 20 on them," Zelly recalled, fixing the bandage on her foot. Bret looked up from the attempted cooking with a bit of excitement.

"Wait really! Your size or mine?" he asked a bit loud.

Zelly flinched at the volume in his voice and covered her ears. "M-mine," she answered, "My size I mean." Bret suddenly went disappointed.

"I'm sorry. Didn't mean to. Did you want to come? I mean hunting?" he asked looking down at her. Zelly nodded. She wouldn't try to run, but she didn't want to be stuck in a house all day either. And since she didn't know anyone other than Brett, she'd rather be with him than on her own.

"Sure, I'd like to see," Zelly said, standing on one leg so Brett could pick her up easier. "If it makes you feel better, I spotted them from far away, so they might be your size. All I know is I saw deer," Zelly added, hoping to cheer him up a little. Bret grabbed her placing her on his shoulder. Honestly, he wasn't interested in the squirrel in the pot anymore. He walked out of the house wandering back to the area he found her. Even if they were her size deer was more filling then a squirrel. He was a bit excited but tuned down his emotions as to not scare her.
Zelly looked around, trying to find the right way she came from. She saw a certain bush and stick and pointed at them.

"I came from that way. There's a cliff I walked by and when I looked over it a little I saw the deer," Zelly shuddered remembering her fear of heights, "I looked over the edge despite my better judgment," she admitted holding onto Bret's hoodie and moving closer to his neck for warmth. Bret felt her cling to him then mention her better judgment. He smiled a bit.

"You're scared of heights, aren't you?" he asked looking at her with a small smirk.

"Don't laugh," she muttered, her face crossed between a scowl and a pout. She gave his neck a small hit in the process and crossed her arms.

"So why aren't you shaking now?" he asked out of curiosity.

"Because I have something to hold onto now," Zelly said, moving closer to his neck and pulling his hoodie material over her body. "And it's warmer here too!" she called, her voice muffled from underneath the cloth.

"So, if I simply..." he picked her up from her spot and held her in his hands but high enough so she was in his eyesight. "This would be uncomfortable for you?" he tilted his head but smiled in a teasing way. He was following her instructions as he wandered over.

Zelly's eyes widened and she grabbed onto one of Bret's fingers.

"Y-yes!" Zelly cried fearfully as buried her face in his finger. "Too high! Nothing to hold onto!" Zelly cried, starting to tremble again, from fear as well as cold. Bret sighed knowing this was probably not the best decision.

"Alright." he placed her back on his shoulder close to his neck. He continued to walk until he got to that cliff she was talking about. He got on his hands and knees and looked over the edge. No sign of them. He made sure as he moved that a hand was under Zelly because she probably would fall. Zelly did end up falling back into his hand with a yelp. She carefully peeked over his fingers and looked at the trees under the cliff. She spotted movement a little way away.

"S-something moved over there," she said slowly before sitting down on his palm and holding onto one of his fingers again. Bret cupped her close to him. He jumped down, landing perfectly. He placed her down on the ground. He transformed into a wolf running over without a thought. Zelly blinked several times as she sat on the ground. She stood up and limped to a rock and sat to wait.

"Wish I had my book," she muttered, having lost her hoodie and book when she tried to escape from Bret the first time. She picked up a twig and began to fiddle with it, humming a tune she knew. "You would not believe your eyes, If 10 million fireflies, lit up the world as I fell asleep," she hummed/sang, hoping Bret was finding the deer. A cool breeze blew past her and she shivered a bit, but then she got a weird feeling. Like she was being watched.

Bret ran off, but not too far in case something happens to her. He looked around, sniffing the air. He caught the scent. Not far at all, he located the heard of the small deer. He ran over pinning them down and killing them with his claws. He then lifted his head sniffing something bigger. Zelly looked around uncomfortably, the feeling of being watched by something or someone getting more intense. She slowly got off the rock she was sitting on and slowly moved towards a grove in the cliff. It wasn't deep enough to be a cave but it might prove a good spot to wait in instead of sitting openly on a rock. She sat down beside it, he back against the cliff wall and waited again. She then spotted two giant yellow eyes and she sighed, thinking it was Bret.

"Did you find them?" Zelly asked, shifting a little in her spot. Bret lifted up his head. This creature's smell was no deer. He walked closer trying to detect the creature. He then remembered Zelly. He ran over frantically trying to locate her. That's when the giant creature moved out of the trees and Zelly froze to her spot. It wasn't Bret, this wolf's fur was blonde-ish and its eyes shone a more brown then yellow color as it approached her. Zelly felt dread fill her body as she remembered the blonde guy who had tried to take her from Bret and that Bret's pack were giant shifters.

"Br-Bret!" Zelly cried slowly moving into the grove. The blonde wolf shifted into his giant form, a smirk on his face.

"Bret left his little morsel all alone? What a shame," he said reaching for her. Bret didn't hesitate. Didn't even think. He saw the wolf getting a bit too close to his human, so he lunged out of the woods. He landed on top of the guy throwing both of them across the field. He got up shaking his head, but without a second thought stood in front of Zelly, growling towards the pack member.

"You're defending your morsel? Geez Bret you have gone soft," the blonde sneered at him. Zelly ran under Bret and clutched the fur on his left front leg for dear life Bret growled once more barring his teeth. He was the alpha for a reason. If this blonde guy was going to touch her he would be taking his human and he couldn't have that. He would see it as a challenge. He licked his lips baring his teeth. He was not moving from his spot.

"Bret is 100 times the werewolf shifter you'll ever be!" Zelly shouted, surprised by her own courage. The blonde guy smirked at them, accepting the challenge.

"I've waited for this," he sneered, going wolf. Zelly had a bad feeling about this and went back to her hiding spot in the grove of the cliff.

"When I'm done with you I'll have a nice little dessert to celebrate," the blonde said through a series of growls. Bret stood in front of her once more to make sure he didn't get close to her. Bret ran over attacking the wolf without remorse. He jumped on top of him, hitting at his neck. The blonde clawed at Bret's muzzle, causing him to let go. The blonde rolled back and harshly bit Bret's hind leg, trying to break it. Bret kicked at him several times to get his leg free. He turned around biting at his ears making puncture holes in them. He then growled while taking his claws and digging them into the wolf's skin. The blonde growled but it quickly turned into whining as Bret pushed him to the ground and began to pull off his coat of fur. Bret bit down on his neck scruff to make him bleed. He then got off backing up slowly. He transformed to be human.

"Back off now." His hissed, yellow eyes flashing. The blonde stayed a wolf but growled, reluctantly submitting. Zelly couldn't help but give a proud smile at Bret.

Bret waited until the wolf left. When he did he turned around laying his hand down. He was concerned he scared her with the fighting or with his experience. He was now the one injured with bite marks on his arms and a blood on his face. Zelly limped out of her hiding spot and approached Bret, not in the least bit afraid, but very proud. She crawled onto his hand and grabbed one of his fingers to hug it and to feel more secure.

"You did great," she smiled, but it quickly faded at the sight of his injures. "You alright?" she asked, hugging his finger tighter. Bret looked away a bit. What she was doing was adorable!

"Don't worry about me kid. What about you? Are you fine? Emotionally and physically?" he seemed genuinely concerned as he walked back over to his dead pray placing about 15 deer in his pocket.

"Emotionally, I'm tired and a little worried. But physically I'm fine, other than my shoulder and ankle," Zelly responded a little fearfully. But the fear wasn't from the experience or because of Bret, it was the height and lack of things to hold onto. She burying her face into his finger so as to not look around at her height. Bret still noticed her fear so he placed the girl on his shoulder right by his neck. He would place her in the hoody but that would be disastrous with the deer. He began to walk back to the house with the girl. He would look over to make sure she was still present and ok. Zelly curled up into his neck and pulled some of the looser material up to her knees and clung to it, resting her head against his neck yawning a little. She then spotted her hoodie and book on the forest floor and gasped.

"Hey! My things!" she cried happily, moving a little too fast and hurting her shoulder in the process. "Ow," she muttered through gritted teeth. Bret couldn't help but laugh at her reaction, not her injury. He bent down placing a hand over her so she would be secure and as careful as he could picked up her items.

"There. Better?" he handed it to her. Zelly grabbed the book and hoodie eagerly nodding.

"Mm-hm!" she hummed, opening the brown book. It was conveniently about shifters and she had been given it by an elderly lady in her town. She pulled her hoodie over her head before shaking off the dirt and opened the pages to the last one she remembered and sighed as she began to read where she left off. But when she got to the next chapter, she made a face. She looked at Bret then back to the book, her expression a mix between what, curious, and disbelief.

Bret looked over at her while talking. "What? What has you worried so much now?"

Zelly slammed her book shut. "Nothing," she lied. She wasn't worried, just weirded out. Bret dropped the subject until they got into the house. He placed her down on the table.

"What?" he crossed his arms. Zelly sat down on the table with her legs crossed and her arms around her book. She felt like a child getting interrogated on whether she stole the last cookie or not.

"I-uh... Do I have to say?" Zelly asked, almost whining about it. Bret leaned down with a curiosity plastered across his face.

"Well now yes. I have to know. What is making you so flustered?" he poked at her side to get her to talk. Zelly giggled a little but made a face. She pulled her book out and turned to the chapter she was reading.

"Well... this book is on shifters and it says in this part, that you guys have a..." she hesitated and looked up at him, still unsure if she should continue.

Bret rolled his eyes. He grabbed the book trying to see what she was looking at, but couldn't quite read it. "What?"

"A uh... storage stomach?" She said in more of a questioning tone.

Bret looked at her a bit weird. "Um yes? Why is that so startling?" to him it was normal he rarely used it, but yes all shifters had one.

"Because the person who wrote that book mentioned that he had a shifter friend who would often "store" him for a lot of reasons, one of them being safety," Zelly replied, still very unsure of what she was doing.

Bret started to think about it. "Yeah. I guess it could be used that way. I've never really tried." he then grabbed Zelly off the table. "I mean we could try it right now?" he smirked transferring her to two fingers to be dangled.

Zelly yelped and tried not to look down. She looked at Bret, her dark eyes shining with trust but a little fear to. "I-I uh..." she couldn't find the words but quickly nodded her head.

"Wait. Really? You would allow me to do so?" he lowered her down just a bit so he was eye level with her. He looked at her with big eyes like a dog does when begging.

Zelly snorted and giggled at his puppy eyes. "Y-yeah, we can. I'm curious myself," she admitted, wiggling a little in midair. "Just... be careful?"

"Of course, kid." he opened his mouth placing Zelly inside. He didn't hesitate whatsoever. He did make sure she was away from his sharp teeth. He closed his mouth enjoying her for a second. He had to coat her so she could go down easier so he licked her up and down more like a pup would do to their master. He then placed her against the top of his mouth to finish the job. He then swallowed forcing her down his throat. She landed in the storage. Bret leaned back against a couch. Zelly couldn't see any of what was happening to her, but felt and heard everything. She wiggled instinctively and tried not to freak out. She tasted of mint chocolate and when she was swallowed, she let out a yelp. She felt the soft fleshy tube gently pull her down and she grunted when she landed in pitch blackness. She wiped the saliva off her face.

"Bret?" She called as she crawled to a wall, not sure if he could hear her. He could hear her all because of his wolf instincts. He couldn't resist. He placed a hand on his stomach and spoke. "Oh no. Zelly. I messed up. It's been so long since I stored anything. I'm so sorry."

"Wh-what?! Wait! What does that mean?!" Zelly cried getting scared. She stood up but fell over. She backpedaled into another wall. "What do you mean you messed it up?!" She cried, almost screaming. Bret quickly rubbed his hand over her quickly.

"No. No. I'm kidding. Kidding." he probably shouldn't have done that. "You're in storage I swear."

Zelly started hyperventilating and began to cry. "D-don't do th-*hic*-that, y-*hichic*-you jerk!" She sobbed but leaned where she felt Bret's hand.

Bret rubbed there to calm her down. "Hey. Shhh. Ignore the jerk then. You're safe...do you want out?" he asked concerned.

Zelly rapidly nodded her head. "Y-yes *hic* please," she sobbed. Bret compressed his stomach forcing the contents back up. She came up to his mouth and he gently took her out. He immediately went to wiping her off with his black shirt to get the saliva off. Once everything was gone he broke down and decided he needed to be a bit nicer, at least at this moment. He held her close to him "Hey. Kid. Better? You alright?"

Zelly nodded, her eyes and cheeks red and puffy from crying so hard and her throat unable to form words. She grasped handfuls of Bret's shirt, and buried her face into it, crying silently, a small hiccups escaping her every now and then.

"Hey. Shhh. You're fine." he rubbed her against his cheek then laid down on the couch. He laid her on his chest, placing a hand over her. "You're ok," he repeated to her. Zelly laid stomach down on Bret's chest, still gripping his shirt. She listened to Bret's heartbeat and comforting words and her crying slowly died down until it was just soft hiccups. She snuggled into his shirt more and pushed herself a little farther under his hand, soaking up the warmth it offered. Barely a minute later, Zelly had cried herself to sleep, but a tiny forgiving smile was on her red tear-stained face. Bret had carefully laid her down on the couch. While she slept he wandered over getting the deer ready. He supplied some for himself and Zelly and then rook the rest to the pack. He figured with Zelly around he might have to suck it up and eat stuff like berries. He just walked in setting stuff down from delivering the deer. Zelly was still sleeping on the couch until she heard Bret come in. She slowly sat up, still half asleep. Her eyes and head hurt from crying so hard, and she still felt tired, thirsty, and hungry. She rubbed her eyes and head.

"Mmmmngh," she groaned. He heard her get up, but did not approach her. He went over to the counter so he could get out the berries he got for Zelly. He placed them on a paper towel while finding something to fill with water. He knew she had to be at least hungry. Zelly crawled to the edge of the couch, but the pillow she landed on earlier was gone. She made a disappointed face and went back to where she was sitting. She began to fidget with the cords on her hoodie. Her shoulder and ankle felt much better. She giggled a little realizing that she had no shoes on the entire time and just socks and bandages. She stood up and tried to walk without limping. It was squishy walking on the couch and her ankle hurt a little but the pain was bearable. She began to him a random tune as she tried walking again. Bret walked in with the paper towel of berries and water in a cap. He smiled seeing her trying to walk on her own and looking so innocent since she was humming. He continued to the couch holding both in his hand. He cleaned his throat so he would be noticed before sitting both down. He decided to sit on the ground, but put one arm resting on the couch.

"So umm kid. Do you have anyone to go back to?" he asked her. Zelly looked away.

"Foster families aren't real families. No one liked me long enough to adopt me. And teenagers don't get adopted often if at all. So no, I don't," Zelly sighed crawling over and eyeing the wild strawberries and water. Her stomach growled at the sight of them. He heard the stomach. He wasn't into much food himself unless it was meat, but it's been quite a while since he had anything. He grabbed one of the strawberries throwing it in his mouth.

"So what? You're a lone pup? You lived in a foster home when I picked you up?" he asked mouthful of berries.

"Yeah I guess I am a lone pup, and yes when you "picked me up" I was living in a foster home... can I have a berry?" Zelly asked, pulling on the same puppy eyes Bret did. He couldn't help to laugh a bit. She was already being influenced by him. He rubbed at her head with a finger to ruffle her hair.

"You know this is all for you. I don't even like fruit," he smirked.

Zelly giggled and swatted at his finger. "Then why'd you eat it?" Zelly asked grabbed a berry and biting into it happily. The red juice spilled all over her white hood.

"I haven't eaten in days so I grabbed one. Have a problem? You going to make me stop?" he poked at her. Zelly yelped as he poked her and she giggled. She tore a piece of berry off and threw it in his face, a playful smirk on her face.

"If you don't stop eating my berries, I'll throw them at you!" Zelly said with a warning yet playful tone, her dark eyes suddenly full of mischief. Bret dared to grab another from her. She had two more that she definitely wasn't going to finish. He kept his eyes on her as he bit into another one just daring her to do it again. Zelly frowned and threw more strawberry in his face. She stuck her tongue out at him.

"Nyah!" She hummed, the mischief in her eyes becoming clearer. She threw another handful.
Bret growled a bit in his human form. He grabbed her in one hand bringing her over to his face.

"Try it again," he challenged. Zelly looked at her handful of berry mush and to Bret then back. Part of her warned her of what had happened last time they "goofed off" like this, but she trusted Bret despite his alpha-Ness. So she threw the berry at him, a smile on her face.

"Did."

He growled at her. He set her down on the ground but then transformed. He lunged at her placing a paw over her body. He growled a bit but was smiling with his eyes glaring at her. Zelly made an oof sound as Bret' pinned her to the floor. She wiggled her arms free and began to push at his paw.

"No fair! Let me up!" she whined, pulling Bret's puppy eyes again. He growled looking down at her. He barely moved his paw, but nudged up against her with his head. Rubbing up and down with his fur. Zelly made a face at him but grabbed handfuls of his fur. When he came up, she got free and was now sitting with her legs on both sides of his muzzle, arms crossed, and a proud smirk on her face.

"Ha!" Whatcha gonna do now?" she challenged with a small smirk, even though she knew she may regret it. Bret growled at her but was wagging his tail. He lifted his head then tilted it so she would slide off. He was trying to play with her but gently. Zelly yelped a little as she slid off his muzzle. She smiled and slowly began to back away, ready to bolt at any sudden moves Bret might make. Granted she couldn't run fast or if run at all, but she was trying to play too.

"Nice wolfie," she cooed still backing up. Bret growled a bit. He backed up just a tad and lunged for her trying to pin her down once more. He missed this try. He attempted to grab her to keep her still. Zelly gave a playful scream and ran under him, trying to get under the couch. He ankle bothered her less so now she could run just not very fast.

"Can't catch me!" She called. Bret made a deep and menacing attack growl. His ears were pinned back, but his tail was wagging. He ran after her but made sure not to do at full speed. He ran after her attempting to snatch her up. Zelly did flinch when she heard his growl. She wasn't truly scared but it did make her adrenaline rush and make her a little nervous. She ran faster, which ended up being a mistake. Her hurt ankle rolled and she yelped falling on her side.
Bret skidded to a stop. He saw her stumble, so he stopped running after her. He bent down and tried to help her up by nudging her with his nose. He was trying to make sure she was alright and able to get back up. Zelly grabbed the fur on his nose and pulled herself up, gingerly standing on her ankle. She flinched when she tried to stand on it fully. She let go and tried to walk but failed, falling back down. She lifted her foot off the ground.

"I think I made it worse," she said avoiding his eyes, thinking he'd be upset. She fiddled with the bandage, trying to get them off. Bret transformed so he was human again. As gently as he could he scoop the girl up into his hand.

"Well if you made it worse than we have to make sure it heals this time. By staying off of it." he sat down on the ground continuing to rewrap the wounds. Zelly nodded. She watched Bret work and looked up at him.

"I have a question," Zelly stated.

"Now's the time to ask kid. So what's up?" he leaned back once he finished tying her leg. It was tight but not too tight she couldn't walk.

"Are you born an alpha or do you earn it? Like when you fought the blonde guy," Zelly asked, her brown eyes filled with curiosity.

"Well it's kind of complicated. You can be born to be an alpha, but to keep the title you have to prove yourself. Like if I have a kid one day they would be considered an alpha in training or a royal. When they get older they may become alpha, but they have to prove themselves to keep the title, usually through strength sometimes with your experience and leadership skills. Our pack was created so I was chosen by the rest of the pack to lead because I supposedly demonstrated good leadership skills. I had to become stronger to win fights in case I was challenged."

Zelly thought for a minute. "Soooo... You're a prince in a way?"

"I'm a leader that was nominated by my people for my skills. The prince would be the beta or second in command. You already meet him. I choose my beta."

Zelly's eyes widen. "So you're a king?" she asked, amazement in her voice.

He laughed a bit. "Yes, I'm a king and Ryan the one that didn't try to eat you so the second in command."

"That's so cool! One more question. Will I have to meet the other pack members?" Zelly asked, crossing her legs and sticking her hands and her hoodie pockets. He was curious about why this would have to be brought up.

"Why? Do you want to and are you planning on staying here long?"

"I just don't want another incident like with the blonde guy," she shrugged. She wanted to stay with him. But her problem wasn't the foster home, no one would care if she never came back. Her problem was she didn't want to burden Bret with taking care of her. So in a way, it was kind of a lie.

Bret looked at her skeptically. " Well I would guess you would have to see the Beta maybe his mate but that would be about it. It would be different if you were staying then yes you would have to." He could tell she wasn't telling him the whole story. "So in a few days you would just head out wouldn't matter anyway."

Zelly hummed, hiding a little sadness. "Could I meet them?" She asked, pulling Bret's puppy eyes.

"Are you going to pull that every time you want something?" he asked with a sigh now regretting he did it to her. "But fine you can meet him."

"Mmmmmaybe~," she sang, giggling a little, "I learned from the best!" She smiled and wiggled excitedly, but also a little nervous since she was shy about meeting the two.

"What are you expecting me to do it today?" he rolled his eyes. "Fine." he knew he was allowing too much from this girl. He took out a phone and called up Ryan. Having a quick conversation over coming over, not really explaining why. Bret then set her down thinking.

"Alright if he is coming over maybe I should make something so..." he looked at her. "Nothing goes wrong." saying this all out loud.

"Nothing goes wrong?" Zelly repeated, looking up at him curiously.

"Well you know...nothing goes wrong." He didn't really want to say it out loud cause if she remembers he was hunting her when they first meet. Zelly did remember that Bret was originally hunting her, although she hadn't thought about it in a while seeing as her injuries and goofing around with him had suppressed the thought.

"In what's ways could it go wrong," she asked, hugging his finger trying to make him not worry.

"Um well. Not sure how they are going to react." He simply stated. "He could try and hunt you or do something while I'm not around." he stated walking over to the counter so he could attempt to make the deer he caught and berries.

"Oh," Zelly said as he set her down on the counter. She tried to change the subject. "So, what's Ryan and his mate like?" she asked.

"Ryan he's...it's hard to explain. He gets into a lot of trouble like I do, but is a lot more responsible. He's usually the one that keeps me out of trouble but loves to pester and play pranks. His mate I don't know much about. Honestly just supportive and beautiful."

"They sound nice," Zelly smiled, watching him prepare the food for eating. There was then a knock at the door, so sudden and loud it made Zelly yelp and jump. Bret stopped what he was doing. He wasn't expecting the already so he ran over to the door opening it up. Ryan ad his mate were at the doorway. Bret gave Ryan a brotherly hug. It was nice to see him outside of matters. Ryan walked in starting to chat with Bret not really noticing yet the girl. Amara followed them in.

"How's Mr. Alpha holding up after the latest challenge?" Amara asked him. Zelly watched the two from the counter, not sure if she should make herself known or not yet. Bret knew he had to say something before she was smelled.

"It's been...an adventure." he led them into the living room area. Brett walked out with the excuse of getting food. He walked to the counter laying his hand out. "Alright. You ready?"

Zelly took a deep breath and nodded, crawling onto his hand seeing as she still couldn't walk. Bret grabbed the berries in his other hand then walked out with both. He set the bowl down looking at both Ryan and Amara.

"Well um this is Zelly," he announced. Amara stared at her, mouth agape. Zelly began to feel uncomfortable at all the staring.

"H-hi," she smiled shyly. Amara smiled and cooed at her.

"Aren't you sweet?" she smiled at her. Zelly gave a nervous laugh and rubbed her arm, her pale face a little red. Bret was a bit surprised Amara was being so nice. Ryan sighed looking over at Bret.

"Bret. Isn't that the morsel you had a day ago? Why is she still here?"

"Well um." he looked around a bit. "She has been hanging around. Got injured so I have been helping." Zelly grew nervous at the mention of morsel. She shifted a little and pulled her hood over her head, trying to hide her nervousness.

"Maybe this wasn't a good idea," she thought. Amara picked up a strawberry and began to eat it while she watched her alpha and beta talk.

"No offense Bret, but helping a human? That's new coming from you," Amara said as-a-matter-of-factly. Bret looked over at her.

"Well..." he couldn't really explain it either. "She needed help and I may have caused it."

Ryan looked over at his mate. "You're fine with this?"

"I merely said she was sweet and from what I can tell, just a child. I will say that I'm surprised by Bret's actions as this is the first human I've seen him spare, but it's not really my place to question our alpha's decisions. If he's fine with this, then so am I," Amara stated. Zelly moved closer to Bret, still uneasy. Amara noticed her moving and smiled softly.

"May I hold her?" she asked. Zelly froze at the question, keeping her hood on her head. Bret looked towards Zelly then back at Amara. She seemed trustworthy and he knew she wouldn't betray him, but he never knew. He carefully handed Zelly over to Amara. He then looked towards Ryan.

"Look trust me it's weird I know, but" he looked over towards Zelly. "the morsel has grown on me."

Ryan sighs. "Fine." Zelly looked up at the woman who was holding her and smiled shyly, still nervous. Amara smiled back and gently stroked her back.

"She's starting to grow on me too," Amara said. She brought Zelly eye level with herself. "Zelly is it?" she asked.

"Mm-hm," Zelly nodded, starting to like this woman. She still wasn't sure about Ryan though and still felt uneasy.

"For a human child, you're a very sweet thing," Amara said handing her back to Bret as if she sensed her uneasiness.

"Th-thanks," Zelly stuttered. Zelly still didn't really enjoy being called 'morsel'. Bret cradled her close. He set her on the table so he could get the meat. That's when out of nowhere Ryan shifted into a wolf and attacked Bret. At first, it looked bad with each other running after each other, biting, but in reality, this is honestly just how they acted. When no witnesses were around they would always mess around and see who was strongest. Ryan would win some. Bret others. Right now, Bret had Ryan pinned but Ryan was growling and biting at Bret. Amara laughed at their childishness and Zelly, who didn't know whether they were messing around or actually fight, held back a scream not wanting to be seen by them. She began to move away trying to find a hiding place. Amara saw her trembling form and gently lifted her up and held her tenderly in her palm.

"Hey, it's alright sweetie, this is just how they play with each other," Amara said gently rubbing her back with a finger. Zelly still shook fearfully as she heard barks, growls and yelps coming from the fight. She did get now that it probably was play fighting but the last time Bret had to fight was when someone was trying to kill her. She pulled her hood tighter over her head and tucked her legs into her chest. Bret continued to fight. He bit down on Ryan's ear as a pup does, but his eyes tracked the movements in the room. He saw Amara comforting Zelly. He felt bad completely. He released Ryan transforming once more. Ryan jumped up and pinned Bret's human form on the ground but he pushed Ryan off.

"I win," Bret announced. He walked over and rubbed at Zelly's side to reassure her he was ok. Zelly grabbed his finger and hugged it, making Amara coo at her. Amara smiled at Bret and hand Zelly to him. Zelly nodded sensing his concern.

"I'm o-okay, just surprised," she said reassuringly.

"If you were ok with it then you wouldn't be so frightened." he curled his hand bringing her close to him. Ryan walked over appearing human once more seeing the sight.

"So, is this morsel sticking around or is all this for no reason?"

"Ryan, stop calling her 'morsel', she has a name," Amara said firmly. Zelly really wanted to stay with Bret, but she didn't want to burden him with looking out for her. She looked up a Bret, and then looked away again. Bret looked down at Zelly.

"Well um, I'm honestly not sure. She hasn't really shown interest in staying with me. Plus, not sure someone would want to live like this." To be honest he was worried about caring for someone else. He knew how he acted and how he was and he never really thought of himself as a caretaker. "I mean I have to have a pup eventually and she's a pretty good one already." he held her closer in a hug.

Zelly smiled and grasped handfuls of his shirt in a hug. Amara smiled at the sight. "Well, I think you both would make a good family," Amara said standing up, "Now, we should probably get out of your hair so you can have your dinner in peace."

Ryan was starting to object not getting the hint that they should leave so Bret and Zelly could figure this out. Amara coughed, trying to get his attention. She tilted her head towards the door.

Ryan sighed. "You know I am the Beta. You should be taking orders from me not the other way around," he remarked to his mate, but he still complied and left with his arm around her shoulder. Bret and Zelly were left alone.

"I do want to stay with you!" Zelly cried, sounding upset, "But I don't want to burden you with me."

"Oh," he held her close to his chest like in a hug, "Kid, you don't want to stay here. You'd be living in a shifter's home with a pack attached to it. Plus, I'm not really...kid-friendly." he said looking to the side. "Trust me you wouldn't be a burden."

"I don't care!... you're the first person that ever made me feel like I had a family... like I matter and wasn't a waste of space," Zelly whispered, starting to cry.

"Hey. You're ok." he patted her head with his finger. "If it means that much sure you can stick around kid. I'm just warning you know it's not really a kid-friendly surrounding around here. But I'll try my best."

"If you're referring to cuss words, I've heard a lot of them," Zelly smiled, "shall I list them for you?"

"No.no.no," he said quickly covering her mouth with his finger. What he was really referring to was his personality and shifter lifestyle. Being around giant wolves all the time. Having to hunt for food especially since he would have to change what he eats with her being...a food source. The how carefree and a jerk he was, but if she wasn't worried then let's see how it goes.
Zelly giggled and pushed his finger away.

"I was joking, I wouldn't cuss intentionally," she smiled, patting his finger and sighing, "I do get scared easily, but I can try to not be! And I'm not THAT much of a kid, I'm still a teenager," she reminded him.

"Yeah, we will see." he sighed he was skeptical but maybe this would work. "We will see kid." he rubbed her side once more. Zelly giggled and hugged his finger, giving him a silent thank you.
