Ch.14 Aoi
~Y/n pov~
Amane tugged on my arm.
"We may be able to make it to Aoi in time." He stated.
Aoi meant a lot to Nene so of course I was in.
I nodded and we shared a determined look.
Tsukasa had disappeared again. He did that a lot and then just came back as if nothing happened.
I'm a bit worried.
For someone reason, it feels like something really bad is going to happen soon.
Amane tugs my arm softly.
I look up and meet his eyes.
His eyes are filled with concern as he gazed at me with his golden eyes.
"Are you okay?" He frowned.
"Yeah. Sorry, I have a bad feeling." I sighed as I tried to clear my head.
Arms wrapped around my waist and I was lifted into the air.
I let out a small yelp and turned to Amane with a startled expression.
He just smiled and cradled me closer.
I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck as he held me.
"Let's go now." Amane spoke softly, his voice sounding warm.
I allowed myself to relax and rested my head on the crook of his neck, finding comfort in his warmth.
A few times I almost fell asleep because I was so relaxed.

We both ran faster as we heard a scream.
I came to a stop and noticed Aoi there.
We had found her.
She was sat on the floor staring at her hands in shock as they started to disappear.
Amane stopped beside me and spoke to Aoi to get her attention, "What are you doing?"
Her head snapped up as she looked at us with a mixture of shock and relief.
I pointed towards what looked to be a black whole swallowing up buildings, "That over there is a result of the severance from the human world. These boundaries are trying to destroy themselves."
Aoi seemed even more startled by the information as she stared at us wordlessly.
"Oh yeah, you'll probably want to stop sitting there." Amane pointed out, "Before you get swallowed up... you should hurry up and get out of here."
Aoi quickly jumped out and walked away from the spot, peering in the direction we were looking.
It was then she noticed the train and the station.
She opened her mouth and finally spoke in a meek voice, "Where is it going?"
"To the far shore. The next world." I stated.
Amane smiled and waved his hand dismissively, "But if you want to stay here and be destroyed along with your soul I won't stop you."
We both watched as Aoi scrambled towards the train and got on.
I let myself smile slightly in relief. Maybe she'll be okay.
"Let's go with her." I stated.
Amane was silent for a few seconds before nodding and smiling.
He leant forward and his face came closer to mine which made my breath hitch.
He laughed at her red face and tucked a stand of hair before my ear before kissing my forehead.
His lips lingered there for a few moments before he pulled away, "As long as I'm with you I don't care. I love you."
I smiled brightly as a warm feeling exploded in my chest.
I grabbed his hand and held it tightly, "I love you too."
Leaning forward, I pressed a kiss against his cheek, catching him off guard.
Amane's cheeks flushed as he looked away.
That made my smile grow brighter.
I gently tugged his hand and pulled him onto the train.
Aoi was still stood there looking around and she hadn't noticed us yet.
Amane had recovered and sent me a cute pout, "You caught me off guard!"
He whined cutely.
I plopped myself down in one of the seats and pulled him into my lap.
"You're so cute." I smiled at him.
Amane grumbled but his actions were saying the opposite of what he was telling me.
He curled up on my lap and snuggled his head into my neck, his arms wrapping around my waist and pulling me as close as he could.
There's a giddy feeling in my chest as I watched his cute actions.
I wrapped an arm around his waist tightly and rested my head against his.
My cheek was pressed against the top of his head as we both melted into the other's embrace.
If only Tsukasa hadn't just disappeared.
I miss him.
I noticed Aoi still looking lost.
"Come sit with us." I waved my hand in the air, catching her attention.
She hesitated before coming and sitting opposite us.
Amane sighed and turned to face the girl, still sat on my lap.
I readjusted my hold and wrapped both my arms around his waist to hold him in place as his back pressed against my chest.
He melted into my hold again before smiling cheerfully at Aoi.
"This is the last train. Great we could catch a ride, right?" Amane breaks the silence.
"About this train..." Aoi trailed off.
She looked so different to the cheerful girl I used to always see around school.
Her face was devoid of any emotion and her eyes blank.
"It's a one-way trip to the far shore. When we hit our final stop you'll become one of us." I explained.
Aoi looked down, "I see.. so I can no longer go back."
Amane looked out the window with a solemn look, "So, how was it? Your life I mean..."
Aoi stayed silent before she smiled brightly.
My eyes widened at the sudden change of expression.
"Is it okay if I talk about my love life?" Her smile dropped slightly and she smiled softly at us, "You two are really cute by the way."
We both froze for a second before regaining our senses.
"Go ahead." My voice came out softer as I urged her to speak.
"I had a childhood friend. He moved in next door when I was three." Aoi had a distant look on her face as she recalled the memories, "I didn't like him at first. The types of people that are naturally liked by others.. I've never been able to like people like that. Because I'm not like that at all."
She placed her hand on the window and stared out of it.
"Putting your all into everything, being upfront... I realised he was always the one with the biggest burden. He'd complain but he'd never stop doing it because he was a good person. I've always hated that part of him." A bittersweet smile made its way onto her face as she talked about him.
"It's him, isn't it?" I stated though the answer of who it was was obvious to us all now.
She nodded and tears built up in the corners of her eyes.
My eyebrows raised in surprise as she started showing more emotion.
This emotion was genuine for once... unlike all those other smiles she'd send people at school.
These emotions were genuine... the only emotion she's ever shown to be real.
"And I loved it too."
I smiled sadly.
If only things hadn't turned out this way.
It's so sad.
The train jolted as it suddenly stopped.
We all were flung to our feet.
I caught Aoi as she stumbled and almost fell.
"The train stopped." My breath hitched, "Why did it stop?"
My mind ran wild as I imagined all the possibilities.
There's no way... right?
~*~
"Long time no see. It's seems you're doing well. So I've run into you first."
Amane and I both turned to look at who had spoken.
Teru Minamoto...
He had a sadistic smirk as he stared down at us, his weapon clutched tightly in his hand.
I kept my composure.
"I was wondering why the train stopped. Did you come to look for Aoi?" I asked calmly.
"If you did come here looking for Aoi, then you're out of luck." Amane continued, "Come on, a defenceless little girl wandering around at a time like this? Did you really think she'd be okay?"
I noticed Akane stood slightly behind Teru.
They both had shocked expressions.
"She has the soul of a Kannagi. Supernaturals go wild for that." I stared at them nonchalantly as their faces displayed expressions of horror, "The guys on the train gobbled her up instantly."
"You son of a -!" Akane started.
Teru placed his hand on Akane's shoulder and cut him off, "Calm down. My anti-spirit amulet is still ringing. So Aoi should still be okay. It's a bluff, they're only trying to fluster you."
Amane transformed so he had his cloak and his knife.
I was already in my spirit form. I didn't have a weapon but I'd still put up a fight.
Actually, Tsukasa had helped me with that.
It wasn't that I didn't have a weapon, I could use the flowers as a weapon.
"Unless Aoi gives up her life, there's no other way that Yashiro can survive." Amane stated.
I bit my lip. I want Yashiro to survive and live a long life.
"I'll distract him. Go and find Aoi." Teru shouted, pushing Akane forward, "I'll catch up with you after I exorcise this evil apparition."
Amane shared a look with me before he moved to block Akane's path.
"As if I'd let you go!"
We both froze as Teru pressed his sword against Amane's neck.
Amane quickly moved his knife to push away the blade.
I pulled off the flower crown and transformed it into a vine of flowers.
I swung it towards Teru and it latched onto his leg.
My hand yanked backwards, making Teru fall.
Teru grabbed onto the vine and yanked at it back which made me trip.
His hand was bleeding because of the thorns but that didn't stop him from tearing it off his legs.
Teru quickly stood up and avoided the knife that Amane threw at him.
"You never quit." Teru stated, glaring at us both.
We both jumped out of the way when he swung his weapon at us.
I stared at Teru wide-eyed when he swung his weapon upwards and completely destroyed the roof.
"Now I can move around just as easily as you can."
The tables turned and Teru easily overpowered us.
I should've trained more so I could better wield my weapon.
Teru pinned me down under his foot.
I curled my body around Amane's to protect him.
Amane was staring up at me silently with wide, teary eyes.
I smiled sadly.
Was this the end? It seems like it.
At least I can protect Amane.
"You act so unconcerned about everything but in reality you have shockingly little composure. If I had known all of this would happen, I would've gotten rid of you a long time ago."
I yelped as he slashed at me with his weapon.
"I managed to hold myself back when Kou was around." Teru continued, "Even though the sight of you disgusted me."
Teru lifted his foot and then stomped down on me.
Amane curled closer to me as his tears fell.
He watched as I got beat up by Teru.
"Did you really think killing her would solve everything?" Teru narrowed his eyes at us and smirked.
He raised his leg and kicked me hard, "Why are you protecting that bastard?"
I ignored him and continued to shield Amane.
Amane whimpered and curled closer to me.
Teru brought his sword down and almost sliced me.
It sunk into the ground next to my head.
He leaned closer and whispered menacingly in my ear. (ゴゴゴゴ)
"What? No?" I managed to choke out, my voice no louder than a hoarse whisper.
"Are you serious?" Amane asked.
Teru backed away and smiled, "Who knows?"
His smile looked kind but I knew it was far from it.
I slowly sat up, holding Amane in my arms.
He rested his head on my chest and sniffled.
"It's time you disappeared." Teru raised his weapon in the air and got ready to cut us down.
I closed my eyes and prepared myself for death.
Or death for the second time I guess.
But it never came.
"Senpai, now!"
I opened my eyes and saw Kou stood in front of us.
He has blocked Teru's weapon.
I turned my head and saw Nene looking at us with a determined expression.
"Y/n." Nene smiled and pulled me into a tight hug.
She quickly released the hug and pulled me up, I was still holding onto Amane so he scrambled onto his feet and clutched onto my tightly.
"We're running away." Nene stated as she held my hand tightly.
She gave us one last determined look before turning and leading us off the train.

A/n so much has happened in the manga but I feel like it's left more questions than answers. What is even going on with Tsukasa and is it really him like what? I wasn't sure whether to include him or not since I'm so unsure of how it will all turn out. Though I'm glad there's finally enough content to write a chapter. Are you surprised? I hope so. Hopefully there'll be another chapter in a few months for you to read :)
