Third Person POV

"Yes, sir," Ben had responded to Man when Man went to Ben's office to personally request Ben to go up to his office as soon as Ben's meeting with the head of the housekeeping department ended.

Man had to personally go down to see Ben at Ben's office because for some reason Ben was not responding to his phone calls.

"Yes, sir" Ben had said to Man but Ben had no intention of going up to Man's office.

After Ben's meeting with the head of the housekeeping department ended, Ben called Tay the assistant manager and informed Tay that he was going down town to a supermarket to check out prices of their store brand laundry detergent because the quote given by their supplier seemed ridiculously high.

"Okay," Tay said to Ben. "Will you be back in time for lunch?"

"Most probably," Ben replied but Ben had no intention of spending his lunch hour at the hotel.

Ben had just boarded a bus that would take him down town when his phone started to ring.

The ringtone indicated that it was Man calling. Ben muted his phone. He had no intention of talking to Man until he got back to the hotel after lunch hour.

After the ringing ended, Ben heard a notification of a voicemail on his phone. Man had left a voice message but Ben was not inclined to listen to it.

Before going into the supermarket Ben visited some apartment buildings that indicated some vacant units.

Ben walked into one of the buildings that was closest to a bus stop.

Luck was with Ben when he was informed that there was a studio unit available for rent. It was a one area unit but equipped with a shower stall and toilet. And for a downtown location the rental was surprisingly affordable and within Ben's paycheck range.

Ben immediately signed a contract with the apartment manager and told the manager that he wanted to move in the very same evening.

Ben glanced at his watch. He still had an hour and a half to kill before he had to go back to the hotel.

Ben decided to have an early lunch since all he had for breakfast was a cup of jasmine tea at hotel basement cafeteria for employees.

He walked into a small noodle restaurant and ordered a bowl of tonkatsu ramen and an iced honey lemon fizz drink.

He lingered a while at the restaurant watching passersby through the glass wall before heading out to the supermarket to check out their store brand laundry detergent.

Sure enough, the prices were considerably lower than the prices that the suppliers had quoted to him.

Throughout Ben's transactions at the supermarket, his phone kept on ringing and kept on getting notifications of voicemail messages being left on his phone,

Ben continued to ignore his phone sounds as he walked out of the supermarket carrying a box that contained two gallons of liquid laundry detergent because more than two gallons would have been too much for him to carry on the bus.

While on the bus, Ben's phone sounded again but this time it was a generic ringtone.

It was Tay calling.

Ben swiped on his phone screen and before he could say a word, a frantic Tay spoke to him.

"Ben! Why are you not answering Man's calls?" Tay asked in a very concerned voice. "He is very worried over you!"

"Didn't you tell him that I was going to the supermarket downtown?" Ben replied calmly.

"Yes, but we were expecting you to be back for lunch! At least that was what you promised me!" Tay's voice still sounded frantic.

"I didn't promise that I would be back for lunch," Ben reasoned out. "All I answered was 'probably' when you asked if I was going to be back in time for lunch."

"But why aren't you responding to Man's phone calls?" Tay wanted to know.

"Because I assumed that you had told him where I was if he wanted to know," Ben replied. "Anyway I'm on my way back now. Please have one of the housekeepers meet me outside the hotel. These bottles of liquid laundry detergent are difficult to carry."

But it wasn't a housekeeper with a trolley who met Ben at the entrance of the hotel.
