Third Person POV
"We're here!" Sandra shrieked in excitement as the bus slowly made its way close to the white sand and the gleaming foaming sea.
As soon as the bus came to a stop, everybody scrambled out except for Ben who just kept staring out the window.
Bright stood up from his seat and said to Ben, "The bus driver is waiting for everyone to get off the bus and then he will be leaving and will come back to pick us up tomorrow morning."
Ben looked up at Bright with a startled expression. "I thought this was just a one day affair."
"No, my dear, we are all staying overnight here. It's only Saturday. We still have tomorrow Sunday to relax and enjoy our free time while we can and then on Monday we will be up to our necks with work again," Bright said, giving Ben an intent stare, waiting for Ben's reaction.
And Ben reacted indeed.
"I can't! I can't stay here until tomorrow!"
"Why, because Uncle Mango... Mandarin... whatever, did not give his permission?" Bright's voice sounded bitter.
"I don't need his permission to do anything," Ben said. "And please stop calling him Uncle Mandarin or whatever. Besides, since I didn't know that we have to stay overnight, I didn't bring a change of clothes."
"I brought extra clothes that you can borrow," Bright said.
Before Ben could reply to that, the bus driver told them that they had to get off the bus now so that he could leave for a different destination.
"Let's go," Bright said, taking Ben by the wrist. "I'll take care of all your needs."
Bright and Ben made their way down the bus.
They both stopped to inhale the fresh sea breeze before Bright led Ben to the beach house that the company had rented for Bright's work team to spend the night.
Everyone had already chosen rooms to leave their backpacks and duffel bags in, four persons in a room, except for the last room which was not big enough for four. Only two persons could stay in it and the rest of the group had reserved that room for their team leader, Bright.
"Come join us here!" Sandra said to Ben when she saw Ben and Bright walk inside the beach house.
"He's staying with me in the smaller room." Bright announced to Sandra.
"But there's space for one more person in the room that I'm staying," Sandra insisted.
"I'm gonna join Sandra's group," Ben moved away from Bright's side.
"No, you're not," Bright grabbed him by the wrist. "You're not allowed to mingle with the girls. I'm gonna get in trouble with the manager if he finds out that I allowed a man to sleep in the girl's room."
"Sorry, Sandra," Ben said to a frowning Sandra. "Company rules."
"Let's just drop off our stuff in the room first," Bright said to Ben. "And then I have to go and make sure that the caterer has brought the food that I ordered. Please come with me and help to make sure that everything is in order."
Ben nodded and walked with Bright to the dining area of the house where assorted food and drinks were being arranged on a long table.
Bright took out a piece of paper from his pocket and checked the list that he had written on it against the stuff that had been laid out on the long table. When he saw that everything was in order, he grabbed Ben's wrist.
"Let's go and join the others," said Bright.
Then Bright let go of Ben's wrist and started sprinting towards the sea.
"Race you to the water!" he said to Ben. "Winner will get to kiss the loser!"
First of all, because Bright had longer legs and because he had a head start on Ben, he got to the water first.
Ben stopped running and started walking slowly to the water where Bright was already splashing water at everyone close by.
"Come here, Ben!" he called out to Ben who had stopped to take off his sandals on the water's edge. "I'm waiting to claim my reward!"
