Third Person POV

What were the odds, Net thought as he looked around the coffee shop looking for a place to sit and enjoy his breakfast of ham and cheese croissant and a hot cup of cinnamon flavored coffee.

As he walked towards the only remaining empty seat, his heart started to pound against his chest. What were the odds, he asked himself again.  Because there he was, the man of his dreams.

No, it wasn't the first time that he had seen Man Trisanu Soranon. Last month when he had checked in at the hotel for a three day stay, he had seen him step into the lobby with his briefcase in hand, looking handsome and dashing in his business suit.

Net could tell by the way that all the hotel employees bowed respectfully to him as he passed them by that he was a VIP in the hotel, and sure enough when he asked the lobby receptionist, he was told that he was the hotel's big kahuna and that his name was Man Trisanu Soranon.

Net liked to have flings and play around with anyone who flirted with him. He got to do that because his job as a flight steward gave him the opportunity to meet new people all the time.

But seeing Man on that day made all the people in his life melt away and Man just stood there, single-handedly grabbing his heart and keeping it captive.

He had wracked his brains for ways and means to get Man's attention but all his attempts had failed.

After he left the hotel, he had thought that he would never get to see him again.

But as luck would have it, he happened to be on the flight on Net's shift. Of course Net was not going to let this opportunity slip away. He wasn't really the one assigned to take over the table trolley of snacks and drinks but he had offered to take over the task from the attendant that had been assigned to do it.

Net had waited for Man to give him a call but none came.

So that was that. Net resigned himself to the fact that he might never see Man again.

Until today. This morning...

Net continued walking towards the table with the only other empty seat. He hoped that his voice wouldn't crack when he talked because of his tangled nerves.

Net took a deep breath ...

"Can I share your table?" Net asked, thanking the high heavens for the way he was able to keep his voice calm and even.

Net held his breath when Man did not answer right away. Instead he had looked around the coffee shop first before answering, "Okay."

"Thanks," Net said, carefully setting down his cup of coffee on the table.

Before Net could say anything else, he heard Man say, "Listen, I'm not interested in making a conversation with you, I'm not interested in you, so please let me finish my breakfast in peace."

Net's heart sank in disappointment. He watched as Man chewed on his bagel as fast as he could and take only a few sips of his coffee, creamed coffee, Net had noticed, before Man pushed his chair back and stood up, walking away from Net without a by your leave.

Net had to think fast. He knew that this was probably his very last chance with Man and if he let this golden opportunity pass him by, he was a big fool for letting it happen.

Net pushed back his own chair and stood from the table and walked quickly towards Man before he could reach the coffee shop exit.

With a firm determination, Net grabbed Man's wrist.

Man turned to see who it was and when he saw that it was Net, he roughly tugged away his wrist from Net's grasp.

"I have something really important to tell you," Net said desperately. It was the only thing that came to his mind to keep Man from leaving, perhaps for ever.

Man stopped in his tracks and waited, although impatience was written all over his face.

Net licked his lips that had suddenly gone dry before talking.

"I was a guest in your hotel last month," Net began. "I was there for a few days. I was there on a brief vacation. I was by myself... I saw you one morning when you walked into the lobby..."

"Cut to the chase," Man interrupted him.

"I tried to get in touch with you through your secretary..."

"Why?" Man interrupted him again.

"Because... because... I fell in love... I still am..."

Man pushed him away.

"Leave me alone, you cheater," said Man disdainfully.

"What makes you say that I'm a cheater?" Net asked.

"Don't pretend that you don't know," Man said before walking out of the coffee shop.
