Chapter 22

A/N: The video above does not belong to me. It belongs to the person who uploaded it on Youtube.

For those who might not know this couple they are referred to as NetJames. They both starred in the series "Bed Friends".

Man's POV

"Ohmygahd, I'm so glad you're back," Tay said when I phoned him to let him know that I had just landed at Narita. "I'm drowning with backlog. You need to help me out as soon as you get back to your office."

"Of course, I will," I promised. "See you tomorrow."

It felt eerily quiet at my condo. The reality of my being so far away from Ben hit me. I was tempted to call him but I knew that he would be asleep by this time.

I went to my fridge and took out a can of beer. I took a swig from it and set it down on the dining table.

I went to my room and took out a fresh change of clothes.

I went to the laundry area to drop my used clothes into the washing machine.

As was my habit before dropping my clothes into the washing machine, I checked out each pocket to make sure that I had not left any important receipts or paper bills that could get damaged during the laundry cycle.

I felt a piece of paper in one of my pants pockets. I took it out and realized that it was the piece of paper that the flight steward had handed to me on the plane.

He had written his full name and his contact number on it.

After I had started the laundry cycle I went over to my laptop and searched his name on one of the popular social media sites.

There was a short video of him being with someone with whom he was obviously romantically involved.

I shut down my laptop and tore up the piece of paper that the flight steward had given and dropped it into the trash bin beside my living room desk.

That scumbag of a player could play with other people but not with me.

As soon as my alarm rang the following morning I got out of bed and prepared to go to work.

As was my routine, I stopped by a coffee shop to get myself a quick breakfast.

There were already a few early risers sipping coffee or tea and munching on some pastries when I entered the coffee shop.

I ordered a cup of coffee with hazelnut cream and a packet of stevia. I chose a blueberry bagel, plain, no cream cheese on it.

I paid for my order and brought it to a corner table beside a glass wall where I could see cars and people passing by the shop, my back to the entrance so I could not see anyone coming in.

I was halfway through my cup of coffee when I heard someone say behind me, "Can I share your table?"

I looked around to see the flight steward I had met on the plane standing behind me with a cup of tea in his hand and a half wrapped croissant in the other.

I looked around the shop before I gave my answer. Indeed, all the other tables were occupied.

It would have been rude of me to decline his request so I nodded.

"Thanks," he said, setting down his cup and croissant on the table.

I took out my phone from my pocket and busied myself with it to indicate to him that I was not open to having any conversation with him.

For a moment the thought that he was stalking me entered my mind, but then again there was no way he could have found out where I lived or where I went to have breakfast on workdays.

As if he read my mind, he remarked, "I swear I'm not stalking you."

"Listen," I said, "I threw away the piece of paper that you gave me on the plane. I'm not interested in you, I'm not interested in having a conversation with you, so please let me finish my breakfast in peace."

A look of disappointment appeared on his face but I ignored it.

I quickly chewed and swallowed the last piece of my blueberry bagel and downed my coffee in a few gulps.

I stood up and left the table without excusing myself from him.

I was halfway out the door when I felt someone grab my wrist.

I violently tugged away my wrist from the flight attendant's grasp.

"I need to tell you something really important," he said.
