Background

After our dine in, we went back outside and decided to walk around before reaching a park and sitting at one of the benches.

I was looking through my IPad and still saw that there were still clumps of ghosts around although they won't dare to show themselves. I could probably force them out, but considering what happened at Nasty Burger, I wanted to be prepared.

One at a time.

"You think we should ask the locals about the ghost attacks? They seem familiar with it, almost used to it..." Will mused. I grimaced at such a thought.

"If they are use to it, does that mean there are more loose souls around causing mayhem when they are not supposed to? The damn paperwork if that was actually true... as if Hades didn't have enough at his hands already," I groaned, rubbing my temple.

Will just smiled softly, before saying, "What are we going to do?"

"Well... before we do that, get ready for the life similar to a runaway because we are going to be here for a while and I have to find an empty place to call home for who knows how long," I said.

"What happened to hotels or renting a place?" Will asked.

"Finding an abandoned place and living there is actually much easier and free than doing that," I said.

"Is that what you do every mission?" Will asked.

"Yep, but you have no idea how comfy those places could be with some sprucing. So, base headquarters and then information gathering. I'm not going about this blind," I said, already getting up from the bench and Will just following me.

Eventually, we finally found an empty hotel building that after multiple ghost attacks were  happening years ago and thus closed down, but I feel no such thing. Might be rumors, maybe a few ghosts reside here but unlikely as well... according to the IPad, there doesn't seem to be it.

Eventually, we went to the first floor and occupied a double bed room after breaking the door down.

I was now looking through the IPad and frowned at the massive number of dots, before deciding to get my phone and scrolling through any news concerning ghost attacks at this small town. There aren't.

But why do people look like they are used to it? Maybe this stuff doesn't come out as news to others outside Amity Park and dismissed as ghost nonsense... yeah, that could be it.

As I have exhausted every resource I have and still left in confusion, I turned to Will and said, "OK, time for information gathering, and you are the one doing it because Gods know that no one wants to talk to me..."

"Hey, that's not true. You always just distance yourself from people. If you open up more, I'm sure people will take a liking to you," Will argued.

"While that may be true, you are far more approachable than me," I said.

"And one day, you will be far more approachable than me... but alright, I will do it. What am I supposed to ask anyway?" Will asked.

"Mostly about the ghost attacks, whether they are common here or not, and afterwards a little more about it..." I said.

"A little more about it...?" Will asked.

"Well... the ghosts have to come from somewhere and I'm sure they have a name for it, hopefully," I said.

"Yeah, but the name of where the ghosts came from is called the Underworld, right?" Will asked.

"Not this time. Those two ghosts... they did not register as escapees of the Underworld. Not only that, they are abnormal. Ghosts do not have powers to shoot lasers or transform into Meat Monsters..." I said.

"You've got a point. Afterwards, what are you going to do...?"

"After we know what we are potentially up against, around midnight, we should just go to the park and summon the ghosts so I could just toss them back to the Underworld..." I said.

"You can do that? Then why didn't you the first place?" Will asked.

"In broad daylight, you are kidding me. Also the fact that I rather be cautious before jumping headfirst into danger. Thank Gods for that or else I will be so overwhelmed by lasers and Meat Monsters."

"Well, guess you know what you are doing," Will said.

"Yeah, let's go out and ask random people about ghosts," I said.

"What's our excuse?" Will asked.

"We could say we are ghostbusters or ghost enthusiasts, your pick," I said.

"Ghostbusters. More professional," Will said.

"Good, then let's go," I said.

It didn't take a long time that we got out of the building and towards the park that we saw a bunch of teens walking around and just chit chatting.

Deciding to take the opportunity, Will smiled and walked toward them, as I followed and greeted them.

"Hey," Will said casually, "You locals in town?"

The group was actually three teens, one boy wearing a white shirt with red circle and jeans, another with a cap and glasses nerd, and finally a girl in all black.

The girl was also side eyeing me but I guess it's because I might display the same aura that she's portraying.

Emos know emos and goths know goths. That's not my stereotype but I pull it off... what to do with that, you know? I just wear black and have a dark aura and I wear a skeleton ring, and people think I am emo or goth?!

OK, back then I may have emo tendencies of hating life a bit thanks to losing Bianca and my problems, but I'm not emo, not really.

My train of thought was broken when one of the locals spoke up.

"Yeah, and whose asking?" The boy in white shirt asked.

"I'm Will Solace and this is Nico di Angelo. We are ghostbusters just interested in this ghost town," Will said.

"You are not the only ones," the boy sighed, "Amity Park used to be a peaceful town before the ghost invasions about a year ago. Ever since, this place has really become a ghost town..."

"A year ago?" Will asked, "What happened?"

The boy hesitated... and then shrug, "It just happened. Once a ghost started haunting our school, and then after that, it seems more and more come here..."

My eyebrows pretty much just raised up, and this time I interjected, "And you guys are already used to it...?"

The girl shrugged and said, "Yeah. The ghost comes, wrecks havoc, stopped by the hero and then leaves. Could be worse, you know...?"

"Hero?" Will asked.

"Oh yeah... you are new. There's this ghost hero here that fights other ghosts and protects this town. His name is Danny Phantom and he's kind of our local superhero," the geeky boy spoke up.

"A ghost that fights other ghosts..." I muttered. This town is getting a little too strange to me...

"That's what it is... I'm sure you will see him in action and the you will know we are telling the truth," the girl said.

"We already did," Wil said, "We were at the diner and saw a ghost boy fighting some Meat Monster. I guess that boy is Danny Phantom..."

"Well, if you saw the ghost fighting a Meat Monster, then that's definitely Danny Phantom. But... you guys are ghostbusters, right? I would have thought that you would just rush in and bust the ghosts..." the boy in white shirt said.

"We didn't want to interfere yet... and seeing that ghost fight surprised us," I said.

"Really? Are you sure you are ghostbusters?" The boy asked.

"My father is one, and I help him out. But throughout the world, most ghosts just keep to themselves and the powers they have is possession, flight and intangibility. So this is my first time seeing ghosts shoot lasers and turning into Meat Monsters," I said dryly.

"Weird..." the girl said, hand in chin.

"Seriously, how are ghosts here so... powerful?" I straight up asked.

The trio looked at each other as the boy in white shirt said, "I don't really know... my parents are also ghostbusters, but they didn't really research that all the way through..."

This information did not help me.

"Oh... where do those ghost come from?"

"Huh? From a place called the Ghost Zone. For ghostbusters, you sure are clueless," the girl said, which was promptly ignored.

"Ghost Zone?" Will asked.

"It's a place that's a parallel dimension to the human realm and where all ghosts reside..." the boy in the white shirt said.

I frowned. That was not true, but in turn that means there are ghosts hiding in this Ghost Zone... maybe that's why they didn't register as loose souls out of the Underworld...

... This is out of my jurisdiction. I'm only going to deal with the souls that came out from the Doors of Death. Not any unknown ghosts which escape Hades' grasp and don't even register for my mission.

Also, I'm willing to turn a blind eye, if mentioning this to Hades would mean more paperwork.

"Well, if that's all, then we better get going," the boy in white shirt said.

I have a lot of questions but nothing coherent in my mind, so I simply said, "Yeah, that's all. See ya..."

The group knew that I was waiting for names just said theirs.

"Sam Manson," the girl said.

"Tucker Foley," the geeky boy said.

"Danny Fenton. See you guys 'round," the boy in white shirt said, and they left as they come.

Will was smiling at me for some reason, but the reason was found out as he said, "So you can be approachable, the way you just talked to them so naturally!"

"Hardy har har," I said, but I didn't look forward to engage any conversation this time... but my mind was wandering to those weird ghosts and new bare information.

The fact that the ghosts abnormality is common here makes me feel this is completely out of my league.

However, there are still souls needed to dispatch and even if they have strange powers... at least I know some information beforehand and also...

Do not underestimate the power of a demigod.
