Chapter 8
Hey, gurls!
I really, really, REALLY do not like school. It is boring!
Okay, that's my rant of the day.
Now, back to the book!
*Kevin POV*
Avi and I walked through the forest, him as a wolf and me completely invisible.
I had to admit, despite being used to years of loneliness, it felt nice to just be able to walk with someone for a change.
Even if that someone happened to be a wolf at the moment.
Penny for your thoughts? I heard from beside me.
My thoughts aren't even worth that much.
You tend to underestimate yourself, Kevin. That's not good for you.
It's not like anyone actually cares.
There was silence for a moment, then his response came a bit hesitantly:
I care.
I stopped walking quickly, turning to look at him.
His head turned to me, and I almost fainted at the intensity of his stare.
I do care, Kevin, he said, and I could hear the truth in his words.
I became visible again, sitting down at the base of a tree.
Avi sat next to me, then curled up against my leg, resting his head on my knee.
I gave him a look.
Comfortable?
He immediately started to move, but I laughed, resting my hand on his side.
That was a joke, you dork.
Oh, I'm a dork?
Did you hear me stuttering?
I heard a slight rumble of laughter from him, and he shifted closer to me.
I sighed, looking around at the trees and different patches of light on the ground.
Thank you, Avi.
He raised his head slightly, looking up at me curiously.
For what?
For seeing me, when no one else has.
Oh... You're welcome.
He laid his head back on my knee, and I smiled, lightly running my hand along his side.
I heard another slight rumble, but this one was of contentment.
Thanks. That feels nice.
You're welcome.

I walked back home quickly, hoping I'd be able to get there before my absense was noticed.
I sighed, remembering that moment in the woods with Avi.
Wishing it could've lasted longer.
Hoping I could see him again.
Eventually, I made it back, and I managed to sneak up to my room without my mom noticing.
Not that she noticed much, anyway.
Most of the time, she was too drunk to even remember to take a shower, or even go to the bathroom.
I collapsed on my bed, sighing in relief and sadness.
I looked up at the ceiling, then started concentrating, and the ceiling vanished, replaced by the night sky.
I looked up at the stars, recognizing the constellations, and even a few patterns I had created when I was younger.
The peace was shattered, however, when I heard a buzz coming from next to me.
I made the ceiling reappear, and I quickly picked up my phone, noticing a new message.
Avi: Hope you made it home safe. See you tomorrow?
I smiled, quickly typing a response.
Kevin: Of course.
A/N: This is starting to go more and more slowly.
IDK why.
But what do y'all think? Is it good so far?
Luv you all! *blows kisses*
