Chapter 7
Hey, gurls!
So, I'm bored.
And what better way to cure boredom than to write more?
So... yah. Let's just get going!
*Avi POV*
The next two weeks passed by quickly.
In that time, Melanie, Beyoncé, Tyler, Troye, and Todrick had also split up to find their own songs.
And Esther dropped Choir.
She explained that it was because she wasn't as talented as the rest of us.
"Besides," she'd said, "I've always admired business. Maybe one day, I'll be working in the world's most amazing company. Or maybe I could even be a manager for a music group."
In any case, now it was down to me, Scott, Mitch, and Kirstie.
At the current moment, we were at Scott's house, discussing options for songs.
"What about a song about aliens?" Scott asked.
"No," Mitch replied, "Katy Perry's already got her E.T. song."
"Mitch, that's the eighth idea that you've rejected."
"Because other people have already taken those ideas."
"Well, I don't hear you making any suggestions!"
"Knock it off, you two!" I said, cutting off their bickering, "We need to focus."
As we talked, I started to get the feeling that I was being watched again, and I had the feeling that it was Kevin.
I smiled slightly, hoping that he would know that I was glad he was around, even if he was invisible.
Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I gasped softly.
"Is everything okay, Avi?" Kirstie asked.
"Um, yeah," I said quickly, "Everything's fine."
I felt his hand leave my shoulder, and I frowned.
Why can't he just stay for a while, instead of vanishing?
Almost immediately after I thought that, I was startled by a response:
Because, normally, nobody cares as much as you do, Avi.
Kevin?
Yeah. Invisibly isn't the only thing I have.
Why didn't you talk to me sooner?
You were busy with your friends.
Still...
I heard a sigh beside me, almost as if he was upset with himself. The air shifted, and I could tell that he was moving away.
Please, don't leave. I don't care if you stay invisible. Just... please don't go.
I heard another sigh, and the presence beside me returned.
Alright.

After a while, I excused myself from the group, claiming I had homework I needed to do.
As I left the house, I heard a chuckle beside me.
Out of everyone I've seen, you are by far the most unusual.
"I could say the same about you," I said aloud, "Are you actually going to appear this time?"
There was a slight pause, and then I was joined on the sidewalk by the familiar dark-skinned boy.
"Sorry," he said in his soft wind-like voice, "I'm not used to being noticed by people."
"Really?" I asked, "What about your family?"
His eyes dropped to the ground, and I could immediately tell that I had reached a sensitive subject.
"Sorry," I said, "That's none of my business. How about we talk about something else?"
He nodded, giving me that slight smile.
"What classes are you in?" I asked him.
"None that you have," he replied, "except for Choir."
I was surprised.
"You sing?"
"Yeah, a little bit," he said, "I mostly focus on other things."
"Like what?" I asked.
"All sorts of things," he said, "I like writing and reading. But mostly..."
He trailed off, looking a bit embarrassed.
"What?" I asked, "You can tell me. I don't judge."
He looked over at me, studying me for a moment, then he nodded.
"I have this habit," he said, "I think it's called... beatboxing? Where you make sounds in time with music?"
"Yeah," I said, "That's beatboxing."
He nodded.
"Anyway," he continued, "like I said, it's just a habit, and I'm not entirely good at it."
"Oh, really?" I asked, "Can I hear?"
He stopped walking, and I quickly stopped as well, turning to face him.
The look in his eyes was of fear, as well as sadness.
"I-I-I..." he said, but he didn't seem like he was capable of saying anything else.
I examined him, saddened by the way he seemed to close in on himself, like a flower. A dark, delicate flower.
I gave him a gentle smile.
"Here," I said, "I'll help you."
Quickly, I started singing the first song that popped into my mind, a song called Misty Mountains from The Hobbit:
"Far over the misty mountains cold,
To dungeons deep and caverns old.
We must away, ere break of day
To find our long forgotten gold..."
As I sang, I suddenly heard a slight noise, as if the wind were blowing.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Kevin's mouth moving, and I knew it was him.
"The pines were roaring o-o-o-on the height.
The winds were moaning i-i-i-in the night.
The fire was red. It flaming, spread.
The trees like torches, blazed with light..."
At that point, I heard him clearly.
I almost stopped singing, I was so surprised. But I managed to keep going.
He sounded amazing. The sounds coming from his mouth were clearly not that of a human being, but instead, that of a being from another galaxy.
"Farewell, we call to hearth and hall.
The wind may blow, and rain may fall.
We must away ere break of day.
Far o'er the wood and mountain top."
A/N: Well, I don't know about y'all, but I think that went a lot better than I thought.
So, what do y'all think?
Also, when should Kevin meet the rest of the group?
Please comment. It helps, I promise.
Luv you all! *blows kisses*
