I got cussed out for the cliffhanger last chapter. (*cough cough* CorrineSolomon *cough cough*)

So, I figured, what the heck?

Y'all are getting a double update!

*Avi POV*

After school, I rushed home quickly.

I was eager to get to the forest (which was behind my house), so that I could have a little free time before I did my homework.

I sped up, and it almost felt like I was already in one of my animal forms as I felt the wind rush across my face.

Suddenly, I slammed into something, and I fell to the ground, scraping my palms against the sidewalk in the process.

I looked up to see what--or who--I'd crashed into, but to my shock, there was nothing there.

I managed to get home, although I was a bit shaken by the experience.

My dad wasn't home yet, so I deposited my school supplies in my room and wrote a note in case he came home before I did.

Then I exited the house through the back door, kicking off my shoes as I did so.

As I raced into the woods, I slowly began to transform, until I was a brown wolf running through the trees.

I howled with delight as I got lost amid the trees and shadows.

Later, I rested in a tree, having transformed back and scaled the tree with ease.

I leaned against the tree, my eyes closing, and I drifted into a deep sleep.

I woke up quickly, however, when I heard a loud crack, and pain flared in both my legs.

I was on the ground, the broken branch beside me, and I saw that my legs were bent at an awkward angle.

I tried to get up, tried to shape-shift, but I fell back down again, a whimper of pain coming from my mouth.

"Help..." I called weakly, hoping that someone, anyone, would be able to hear me, "Help... Please..."

As the pain started to cloud my vision, I saw a boy running in my direction.

He knelt down next to me, and I felt a gentle touch on my legs, causing me to whimper again.

Then I felt a sudden warmth spreading along my legs, and the last thing I saw before my vision faded to black was the most beautiful pair of dark eyes I'd ever seen.
