Chapter 12
Hey, gurls!
Sorry for not updating for a million forevers. Stuff's been kinda crazy lately.
Anywhoo, next chapter!
Oh, and... um... let's just say things are about to get extremely intense.
You've been warned.
*Kevin POV*
I kept walking, my eyes on the ground.
Avi walked beside me, not saying anything.
We walked in silence until we reached my house.
So..., Avi said silently, and I looked over at him.
So what?
May I come inside? You've seen the inside of my house.
I hesitated; I didn't want him to see just how messed up my life was.
However, before I could say anything, the front door opened, and a man stumbled out.
It was quite apparent that he was drunk, because he was swaying from side to side, like he was going to collapse at any moment.
"What're you lookin' at?" he slurred, and he stumbled towards me, but he fell forward.
I caught him before he could hit the ground, pressing two fingers to his forehead.
Be calm, I thought to him, Sleep.
His eyes closed, and his breathing evened slightly. I winced at the pain emitting from his mind.
Be calm...
Slowly but surely, the pain in his mind faded, and the muscles in his face relaxed. I felt the haze leave his mind completely.
I concentrated, and the man vanished as I sent him back to his house.
When I looked back up, Avi was staring at me with a confused look on his face.
"What was that?" he asked.
I looked away, embarrassed.
"That," I said, "was one of my mom's many 'friends'."
☆☆☆☆☆☆
As we walked inside, Mom called from the other room "Andrew?"
I walked in to see her on her bed.
There were bottles all over the floor, and judging by the look on Mom's face, I knew how most of them got empty.
"Mom?" I said cautiously, approaching her bed.
She looked up at me, and I was surprised to see tears in her eyes.
"Kevin?" she asked, "Kevin, is that you?"
I knelt beside her bed, putting a hand on her forehead, but I removed it just as quickly.
The memory of what had happened filled my mind, and I gasped at what I saw.
I had been wrong. She hadn't emptied most of the bottles...
She'd emptied all of them.
And one of them had contained something dangerous.
"Kevin, what's wrong?" I heard Avi say, but I couldn't answer; my throat felt like it had been sealed shut.
My mother was dying...
And I couldn't help her.
A/N: Well, that happened.
I'm not sure whether to hate myself for the bad writing, or the fact that things got bad so quickly.
IDK.
Anyway, hope you gurls don't hate me too much for that one.
Luv you all! *blows kisses*
